Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test enough

elisa-test

Avatar n tn That is way I got my 5 week elisa and came back negative. I have the same question as you do, how precise is this test? What are the statistics or probabilities?
Avatar m tn Hi experts here . I had an unprotected sex with a girl , one of my friends . it's about 85 days ago , and I have an Elisa antibody test today , it's negative . I was so happy at that moment , but someone told me that the rapid is only 99.8% conclusive because the reagent itself ; and even the Elisa is only 99.9% , and one should test twice and with different method for conclusive . I cannot go to the hospital until next week because of my job and I feel really badly . Is it true ?
Avatar m tn if you cant accept your 3 month test...you wont accept your 6 month test.
Avatar m tn before a week i took hiv test and it came negative.but the test name is eclia and not elisa. is eclia is more accurate than elisa? since i got negative i am safe and i need not worry about it or do i need to test once again? please answer me in detail.
Avatar m tn Your elisa is looking for antibodies and it makes no difference to your test results even if you did all those above things.
Avatar m tn Third or fourth generation ELISA antibody test alone is enough and conclusive, when done after 3 months mark. WB test is ordered mostly when ELISA comes positive.
Avatar m tn No need for re-testing, PCR test is a good test, they say a 45 day pcr test is good enough let alone a 3 month test, you are fine
Avatar n tn I had an unprotected oral sex with a s/w 4 weeks back. I got the HIV 1 & 2 - ELISA test today and the result came "Negative". Is this result conclusive enough to say that I am not infected? The lab assistant himself tells that this is not conclusive till 3 months! Is it so? Please let me know.
Avatar f tn No 168 days can be conclusive..... because old elisa test can't detect antibobies in 3 months..... so the test at 6 months can be conclusive.... if you are immuno compramised (i.e diabetic, t.b. vitamin deficiency.
Avatar f tn my doctor is said to me to give pcr-rt (quantitative) test? what is pcr? I am very worried.
Avatar m tn There is a lot of new tests but elisa is just the type of test, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation of elisas, and there continue to be a lot of research for new tests, the newest teste tend to be rapid test accurate as elsia tests, there has been also improvement also in the NAAT tests, and some labs are trying to come up with a new 5th generation rapid test (PCR+Antibody+p24) but is not ready yet.
Avatar m tn So in short less then a month or during ARS, PCR RNA tests is best (9 -11 days after the exposure) but after a month a PCR DNA test would be best, but at this point an Elisa test would work just as good and without the risk of false positive which would make most people here go crazy. 6. RNA PCR is for early detection, test at the 14 th day after the exposure backed up by an antibody test at the 12th week is good enough to rule out HIV.
Avatar m tn Teak, please please answer this for me. If I was to take a FINAL antibody test at 6 months which one would you take? HIV 1/O/2 by ICMA or HIV 1/O/2 by ELISA?
Avatar m tn 2) The clinic told me the test I had done (the one I am going mark as the conclusive test) was a Unigold 3rd Generation, 5th generation elisa - would this be an advanced enough test for this to be negative? It is also worth of mention I had the Labcorp DNA PCR test done 20 days outside of exposure. I went the 12 weeks, because Teak and others on this board recommend it.
Avatar f tn During that time I got tested for other STDs includding HIV. The third generation ELISA test came out negative. My question is, is 6 months enough time for the test to be conclusive?? I was glad the results were negative, but I've heard from two doctors that it can take up to a year. So now I've become paranoid. Am I still at risk?
Avatar n tn The WB test is used to confirm your sero-status after a reactive ELISA test taken at the three month mark. It is not used to determine your sero status @ 4 weeks. The cut off point from which you can be sure of your HIV status is three months. Tests taken before then cannot be considered reliable.
Avatar m tn I took an ELISA test for HIV (MEIA 4° Generation), at 3 years of my possible exposure. Was so scarred to do it, that I didn't take it. It came back as non reactive, is that enough to determine I'm not infected? Or should I repeat it to confirm the negative result? I read about a sensitivity of 99,5% can this affect a test taken outside the window period? Thank you!
Avatar m tn That time i did not know exactly Hiv is transmitted.( I was not at a risk at all as i learnt earlier) and i did an Elisa test here in Greece- Athens in a lab. The microbiologist told me that i had to repeat it at 9 months!!!!! She told me that she worked as well in a hospital ( Aids unit) here in Athens and that in 9 months its conclusive. I called the AIDS phone line in Greece and told me that the Elisa test in Greek hospitals is 2 months conclusive!!! Different views.
Avatar f tn t run any test and I had an ulcer in my mouth. It was a rapid blood test not an Elisa. I think he may have confused it with a stomach ulcer.
