Avatar m tn I have 20 years and I have HIV positive person. I drink medicines already 4 months. I use drugs Truvada and Efavirenz Teva. Please tell me how to code your disease treated? Whether you are at injection instead of pills?
Avatar n tn Are there still any evidence of efavirenz teratogenicity in human studies especially on the neuro tube defect
Avatar f tn 1 hours ago I had protected sex with a sex worker which ended with a failed condom(punched) and then hour later i went to consult doctor and he prescribed EFAVIRENZ and LAMZID.AM I STIL SAFE?
Avatar m tn Since that time, he is receiving HAART with lamivudine-zidovudine-efavirenz twice daily, but he told me that there are some days ( at maximun 3) that he does not take the pills, but most days of the month he is adhering to the treatment. His current viral load is 39,000 copies/ml. When I realized of him diagnosis, I went to a doctor who gave me profilaxis about 18 hours post-exposure with lamivudine-zidovudine.
Avatar n tn I am an HIV + male. 43 on truvada/ efavirenz for 2 year with a count of minus 20(undetectable). I was penetrated twice last week where the condom broke and was NOT replaced. The "top" partner is aware of my hiv status. What are the chances of infection for him and apart from testing what should be done? I am otherwise very healthy, no cuts, blood or aparent bruising was detected. I am freaking out for him.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know if having your Gallbladder removed slows down your metabolism? or does it speed it up? What have you experienced?
Avatar f tn If you really want to kick-start your metabolism, you may also try dividing your meals up into smaller portions that you eat more often throughout the day. Every time you eat, it helps your metabolism rise, so as strange as it may sound, eating frequently can help you lose weight or maintain a healthy weight. Take care!

1397290 tn?1357777871 Calorie-intake should be according to your physical activity. 2800-3000 is quite a lot, which if you don't gain of it, you should perhaps seek professional aid.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently put me on a combination of drugs for PEP, the drugs are lamzid and efavirenz and have very serious side effects. My exposure was licking/sucking a nipple of a non-pregnant HIV positive person. No milk came or blood came out but just had an after taste in my mouth. The act was for 2-3 seconds. What are my chances of getting HIV and are the reported cases of infection in adults, cause I know with babies you can.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question. Since you are under care with PEP drugs, that doctor or clinic really ought to be the primary source of information about your risk, follow-up plans, etc. Therefore, my comments are brief. Based on HIV infected persons' sexual histories of when and how they were infected, a CDC study calculated a risk of 1 HIV infection for every 10,000 episodes or performing fellatio on infected partners.
181575 tn?1250198786 Someone asked me about Atripla today. I figure I put my comments here. Atripla is a drug used to treat HIV. It actually consists of 3 drugs, emtricitabine and tenofovir (which also works against HBV) and efavirenz (doesn't work against HBV). Combination treatment is common practice for HIV so they combine multiple drugs into 1 pill. Of course Atripla is NOT an FDA approved therapy for HBV.
Avatar m tn m now under retro-viral treatment (Abacavir, 3TC Lamiduvina, and Efavirenz TM as known in my country), healthy, fit, high CD4 count, undetectable viral load. Recently, I met a person, we kissed and we practiced oral sex on each other. Eventhough I know my condition, and have always tried to avoid people practice fellation on me, he insisted and at the end I agreed. Now, I am really concerned about him. Could he have been infected? Should I tell him to test for HIV?
863555 tn?1239133228 Before, instead of lopinarvir/retonavir I used efavirenz, which made me high. Nice for party or sex, but otherwise pretty annoying. It turned out my HIV is resistant to efavirenz.
Avatar m tn The last couple years I have been watching myself so closely. I have noticed that hypo mania causes me to eat a lot and depressive states I hardly eat for days. I weight the same in my 40's as I did in my mid teens, most of the time. I normally weigh about 180 and am pretty fit, but months of mania in India lead to extreme situations that landed me at 130 pounds. I am trying to see if my appetite changes and then my mood, or if my mood affects my appetite.
Avatar n tn I have trouble gaining weight because i have a super fast metabolism. I way 102 (wich is a good weight for my age) and i eat ALOT. My friends make fun of me for being skinny, i mean my legs look so skinny that my little brother mad fun of me which REALLY hurt my feelings. I am also nicknamed pencil because I DON'T have "curves" or "hips" and my ankles and calfs are super skinny.I hate being called that.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure to whom you are addressing your question. I haven't done a lot of research on the subject, but since hypothyroidism does affect metabolism, I'd guess that alcohol metabolism would be altered, just as food metabolism is altered.
Panda I used to walk on my breaks where I worked several years ago, but since I got let go, I just can't seem to get back into the routine. I'm a yo-yo dieter and am constantly trying to lose weight. How can I rev up my metabolism? I've gone to Weight Watchers and love their program(s), but right now I'm not financially able to attend and my weight has crept up to 195 (again). I also need to do exercises that fit my health issues (bladder leakage; 25 lb weight limit, etc).
Avatar f tn Talk to doctor he said my metabolism has slowed due to the med, as well as low estrogen, Any advice? weight is at stand still even with exercise and moderate food intake, water.
Avatar n tn m assuming my carnitine miracle has something to do with fat and/or sugar metabolism, and that whatever malfunction I have is probably outside the resources of my HMO. My question is if there's any reason to follow up with a doctor to try to find out what's going on, or should I just be happy that I apparently have my life back. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Metabolism is another way of thinking about the rate at which calories are burned. Heavier people interestingly have higher metabolisms than smaller people do, because they require more calories over the course of a day to maintain their body's functions. I generally don't recommend supplements to increase one's metabolism, but small amounts of caffeine as well as catechins contained in green tea will boost metabolism a bit.
Avatar m tn Thanks for posting. Her issue doesn't seem to be related to any of those things. She has been eating healthy, exercising, etc. Just had a physical and no thyroid issues, bloodwork normal. As expected, the doctor had trouble believing the story.
