1564404 tn?1295154236 You definitely have an eating disorder. There is something called non specific, where you niether fit exactly into a catergory.Purging is not good for you ,EVER. NO matter how often , its so bad for your body and teeth. I have suffered from bulimia and I know its a struggle. MY advice is to not restrict yoursefl to 300 cal a day or anything under1200-1500. Your body will go into starvation mode and retain more water and food and in the long run it will make you fatter and unhealthy.
823968 tn?1245061618 When my anorexica/bulimia were both acting up at the same time, i was on 1200 cal. meal plan, but i could eat whatever i wanted on it. Know i'm getting a new plan on Mon. very restricted. Eating 4-5 times a day, with mostly fruits, veggies, and chicken, cutting out maccarroni, starches, carbs, almost all together. Really your meal plan has to be something you agree to. Not something so overwhelming that your afraid to start it.
Avatar f tn My favorite things to snack on are pretzels with hummus, grapes, popcorn, pineapple chunks, deviled eggs, and then chicken noodle soup is always nice. (You can even get can pineapple and put it in the freezer for an hour or so.. frozen pineapple is delicious!) tuna with crackers, etc.. Do you cook? You should look on pinterest for healthy food/snack ideas. I dealt with bulimia 7years ago and always hated the shame that came with it.. I feel for you and pray you get control of it. For me..

1560494 tn?1294843840 I believe that digestive problems are linked to bulima. I have read this somewhere. I also have suffered from bulimia for many years, and have been diagnosed with Irritable Boweld Disease, but now I have come to realize that my digestive problems are from my bulimia. I have messed up my body so much that I have to take something everyday in order to go to the bathroom, if I don't I will go days without.

Avatar f tn For some, vomiting becomes a goal in itself, and the person will binge in order to vomit or will vomit after eating a small amount of food. Individuals with Bulimia may use a variety of methods to induce vomiting, including the use of fingers or instruments to stimulate the gag reflex. Frequently, individuals become adept at inducing vomiting and are eventually able to vomit at will. Other types of purging behaviors include excessive use of laxatives and diuretics.

Avatar f tn I need a partner that understands this: I I am looking for a committed, honest, relying, mature and goal-oriented person who is looking for a partner in the quest of getting cured from this absolutely heart-braking and exhausting bulimia. I have had bulimia since I was 15(now i'm 21), and I really want this to happen, but I need a support. In change, I would do the same for you. Are you up for it ?
554703 tn?1227497870 Eating disorders can impact all of the body's organs. As an example, a person with an eating disorder may experience electrolyte imbalances. Electrolytes are essential to the production of the body's "natural electricity". Among many things, appropriate levels help to ensure healthy kidneys and heart, blood sugar levels and the delivery of oxygen to the cells.
Avatar n tn I am recovering from bulimia, and have been for about three months now. I was bulimic for 7 years (I started at age 16), and only ceased for two healthy pregnancies. I didn't realize all the harm I was causing to my body. I really don't know much about it, but I guess I am curious if my body will ever get back to normal. How long, if ever, will it take for your metabolism to return to normal? Is it possible to get cancer from throat damage?
Avatar m tn Today is my first day of starting a healthy lifestyle and quitting bulimia ! Any pointers ?
Avatar f tn I think with a nutrionist, a meal plan, an excersise plan, and a theripist that specializes in eating disorders you can RECOVER. I understand that your afraid by eating again, and not vommiting that you'll gain weight, and try to understand if your underweight you will gain some weight to be healthy. A meal plan may also make you initally gain weigh but in the long term you will loose that weight if you stay commited to your meal plan, and moderated excersise.

Avatar n tn When people feel occasionally sick after eating, they may throw up or try to, to rid their body of the harmful food. It's not forceful, but more like a "get me to the bathroom or I'll spew all over you." If you're doing it all the time, and you can control when you throw it up (like you can make it to the bathroom and stick your finger down your throat to make yourself throw it up) then it's something deeper. It could be in your head. It could be an eating disorder.

Can u give me ideas wat to do or is it cause im still sick which is affecting me?
Avatar f tn Hi Star, I don't know if this is helpful for you, but I completely stopped making myself throw up when I found out that it could literally make my heart stop at any time. You don't need to have a "serious eating disorder" in order to die from bulimia. When you throw up, you lose a large amount of electrolytes all at once, which is what controls your heartbeat. People who die from bulimia die because their electrolyte balance gets thrown off very quickly, and their heart stops.
Avatar f tn Dear Tessy2, I would contact your insurance company directly and ask for the eating disorder treatment programs on their panel. You could then call each of their contracted facilities. If interested in any of the programs, have the treatment program intake department run an insurance verification to determine your financial responsibility.
992712 tn?1249567618 After I realized that I could eat the things I wanted so badly when i was starving without gaining weight, I was hooked. I stopped eating just for appearances and started binging secretly. From then on, bulimia became my addiction. The whole too-good-to-be-true mentality wore off after a few months, and ever since then my disorder has made me miserable. Anyways, sorry for the super long message!

Avatar n tn Glad to help or even listen if you need me to. It is important that you try to quit being bulimia as it causes so many health problems over time. Your life is as important as anyone elses or more. I think if you have had your liver enzymes done and electrolytes (sodium, possium etc.) and anything else the doctor wants to add. Try to keep hydrated. Bulimia will cause your enamel on your teeth to disappear too.
1143266 tn?1262038596 I am entering recovery from bulimia. It has been 2 1/2 days so far with no binge or purging episodes. So far I am doing well. It is by no means easy, but I am managing. The only thing is now I get random headaches. I am eating normal sized meals regularly, so I don't get it...Is this like a withdraw symptom from bulimia? Will it go away as my recovery moves along? Thanks for your time.
Avatar n tn This cycle of binge eating, bulimia etc are normal in an eating disorder. A person overeats, then feels guilty, throws up food, and tries to stay off food. A positive frame of mind is very important for treatment. If you have the will, you'll find the way. Join support groups to keep yourself motivated. Take up yoga for that will help you. Join any good center in your area. Apart from this, you need proper diagnosis and treatment without which success is not possible.
Avatar m tn Bulimia can have a lot to do with anything and everything, and is unique to each person, yet there are a lot of similarities. Studies do indicate that there are a lot of people who suffer from bulimia who have had sexual abuse, however there are bulimics out there who have not been sexually abused. Often eating disorders can revolve around control, fear, and self-loathing, which after sexual abuse can be triggered in a person.
