There is also Elavil a low dose tricyclic antidepressant that takes away pain if you have alot of pain and drugs like ditropan xl which relax the bladder and cut down on frequency/urgency/some discomfort and pain. I think a combination of these drugs usually gives people quite a bit of relief and also following the IC diet which you'll find at that website too. I don't think I have IC but probably overactive bladder and the ditropan xl has helped alot!
I did have some urgency issues, but not too bad. About a week after I stopped the Ditropan, I was stroking in the sauna again and when I orgasmed, I shot some ***! I was elated, as I had expected to never produce ejaculate from my penis again, even though I had read somewhere that it was possible. I have since *** "normally" two more times, but there have been other instances with I had dry cums. This is usually when my erections are not as hard as they should be.
I have had total bladdure failure and have taken Detrol and Ditropan with no good result. I am seeing the ururologist tomorrow and am worried that he will chalk this up to MS and tell me to live with it. Have any of you experienced this? Are there other remedies out there for this? I dont want to live with this, making me very upset. I appreciate it and thanks.
After 3 days I told the doctor I could not stand the pain not to even say days of urine over flowing diapers and pads and change clothes and sheets. The nurse in the outpatient asked the doctor to order a B & O supository. It is belladona and opium. They save my from wanted to screem and yell from the pain. The Ditropan do help with the spasm but keeps your mouth so dry that it makes me sick. I was also told to drink a gallon of water a day. Just make sure you take the ditropan on time.
The second issue is your wife’s urination problem. The drug she’s taking, Ditropan, should be relieving her symptoms and is not associated with any orgasm problems. However, even though the drug is working, she may still be inhibiting herself because of fears of urinating when she gets close to orgasm. So why not suggest putting a rubber sheet on the bed, or having sex in the shower. Or get creative and figure out other places where if she leaks a bit, so what?

If you were my patient, I would advise you that there shouldn't be any contraindication to taking Ibuprofen, Acetominophen or Aleve with those two medications.

Yes, I know that Toprol XL is the brand name extended release version of metoprolol. However, there is a generic equivalent called metoprolol er, which I assume his doctor gave him. I have read many posts on this forum where users indicate that switching from Toprol XL to metoprolol er still report having problems. The generics are not always as good as the brand name ones.
Does anyone take NSAID's with their Beta Blocker? I take Toprol XL and it said there is a moderate drug interaction.
Dear Di: I have taken toprol xl for about 12 years and have not had a problem with it.. The XL stands for extended life.. it is not all released at once in your system..So I would say the reason you cant take it just when you have a problem is that your body does not get the full effect immediately.. You have to take it and build it up as I understand it.. dunno not a dr...but thats the way Ive always understood it.. basically its a very safe medication to take... hope this helps.. .
I take the toprol xl and I use the generic and it cost me roughly $20 and I take 125mg twice a day. but you must make sure it is the generic for toprol xl because there is metoprolol succinate which is the generic for toprol xl and metoprolol tartrate which is the generic for lopressor. They both work in two different ways so they can not be interchanged at the same dose. I asked this question before toprol xl became a generic.
HI, Your problem sounds like overactive bladder. This is a bladder problem that is driven by urgency. The constant urge to void causes you to urinate frequently, usually causes you to get up at night to void, and about a third of patients have urge incontinence. It's not uncommon to see patients complain of this problem happening life long. The other problem that can cause your symptoms is Interstitial Cystitis (IC).
On Aug. 16, 08 I took my 3yr old daughter in because she said her pee hurts. After doing a urinalysis it showed that she had an elevated wbc so they put her on amoxicillen she remained on that for 10 days. On the 7th day of the amox. she went back to have a repeat urinalysis when those test results came back it showed that the amox. wasn't working. So the Dr. prescribed Septra on Aug.25th She remained on that for 10 days. On the fourth day off the Septra the "bad pee" was back.
My dr, said she looked it up in her book, and Wellbutrin XL 150mg, is only prescribed for SAD and to quit smoking. She did not want to prescribe the XL at all no mater what I said. She prescribed me Regular Wellbutrin 100mg twice per day. I do not want the regular wellbutrin as it will make me shakey, and I will not follow through with taking 2 pills per day...
