During af I got bisoprolol (not good, stopped), Digoxin and Dilmin (not good, stopped). Digoxin and atenolol were left until I got Multaq a week before electric cardioversion. Atenolol has been very good for me to prevent tachycardia for tens of years. Most betablockers are not good for me. Calcium blockers are not good either, eg. Verapamil is forbidden. I don't know Crestor and Cartia. Do you know to what group of medicines they belong? Now I have been without af over nine months.

I have an appointment with my Cardio tomorrow, and I plan on talking to him about getting my off of Digoxin, With my last post in the community and everyone's response to me being on digoxin, I really don't want to be on it. Is amiodarone as safe a drug as digoxin or linoxin for A-fib as far as long term side affects are concerned?

Beacuse I also have heart problems, the neurologist and cardiologist got together and prescribed DIGOXIN. Altho I have not see anything on the INET about the use of digoxin in auto neuropathy, I don't know why not. It made a tremendous difference in my pulse, bp, and even in decreasing stomache nausea and constipation (stomache is also controlled by vagal nerve). I felt almost normal. Digoxin is the only drug I know of on the market which strengthens the vagal nerve.

The medication that may be causing you the low heart rate can be the beta blocker and/or digoxin. Did you stop taking digoxin?

One on December 6, 2008 (240 bpm for @ 9 minutes, another 5 minutes to get down to 120 bpm) and then she was put on medication, Digoxin 0.125 mg). Dear Doctor I am writing this from India My Son was diagnosied (provisional diagnosis) of Viral Myocarditis when he was 2 weeks old and he was in ICU for 2 weeks (in Dec 2005) . When his condition became stabe he was discharged and was on medication - Carnitine, Lasix & Digoxin. When he was 1 year old, echo revealed improved EF of 45-50% and Doctor stopped Lasix.

my great friend is a 90 year old lady. she has had swelling of the legs and some heart problems. Recently in hospital she was on iron, perindopril, spironolactone, atorvastatin, thyroxine, temazepam, parracotamel when discharged from hospital. The degree to which your heart rhythm will improve with medications depends on what the heart rhythm is. Some extra beats are resistant to medications whereas other decrease significantly. That is probably the best I can say without knowing what the heart rhythm abnormality is. I hope this helps.

I'm 76 years old was diagnosed with CHF in February of 2009. I am being treated by a good cardiologist. My ejection rate is 34% and I hope increasing all the time. It was 20% in February at my initial diagnosis. I'm taking carvedilol, lisinopril, digoxin, medication for my cholesterol and diabetes 2 and also aspirin and cod liver oil . I would like to continue with my exercise program and don't know if it's allowed. It's not hard, just walking.

Digoxin can increase contractions and sometimes used if there is heart muscle damage. If the heart is enlarged causing low EF, then afterload can be reduced with medication such as coreg and vessel dilation, etc.

My husband went into a fib on Friday and they put him on it. He converted while in the ER and was told to take it in addition to his beta blocker. They had given him a pretty large dose of it while in the ER and he took 3 doses of the pill...he started feeling pretty bad. He went to his regular cardiologist today and he ran a blood test to check for toxicity and took him off of it. It sounds like a very nasty drug...thanks for the info. I get intermittent runs of Afib or SVT lasting anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Digoxin treatment greatly reduced the number of episodes I have, but haven't eliminated them entirely. Hello. My name is patient. I have a question. My Doctor has given me heart stents, and those heart stents have failed and were repaired. They gave me to my family doctor to moniter my cholesterol. They said one was slightly high and the other was OK. They stopped me on Lipitor. 8 years later I had to have triple bipass surgery diagnosed by the same heart doctor.
