I did take a course of antibiotics for three weeks in mid-August to early September including Doxycycline. Two questions, is it typical for oral candidiasis to be tough to clear up? Second, if I tested negative for HIV after oral thrush appeared, do I need to test again?

Beginning yesterday I've developed an allergic reaction, some sort of infection, herpes or candidiasis, I really have no idea. I first noticed it due to dry lips yesterday, but it looks like it may have been at the back of my throat already?
About 6 weeks ago my girlfriend had a yeast infection which I also contracted off her, we both had it in the genital regions. We went to the doctors and were issued a cream to use.
I also have this problem along with bad sinus swelling and white stuff on my toungue and a vaginal yeast infection. I've had the cream, oral nystatin and diflucan and none helped at all! I'm also ver gassy bloated and constipated all the tim and tired. Dloes is sound like systematic candida?? My doctors think I'm nuts!
Fluconazole (Diflucan) is an antifungal medication used to treat serious fungal or yeast infections such as vaginal candidiasis, thrush and/or oral thrush, peritonitis which is an inflammation of the lining of the stomach, urinary tract infections and a few other fungal/yeast based issues. This medication works by killing the fungus or yeast or preventing it's growth.
The uneasiness that I have been going through for almost 1 year ,is due to candidiasis or GERD or hypersensitive esophagus or any other hidden immune problem?
Can the candidiasis be there even if I don't have any immune problems (as confirmed in my complete immune test)?
I got to know from my dentist that I have been developing a cross wisdom tooth before I got into all these esophageal issues but I did not remove it yet though I was asked to do so.
I've had a white coated tongue for over 2 years, coating is mostly central and worse at back. It's not an overly thick coating. Along with this I have a pea sized solid white area near front of tongue and a 1cm long rectangular solid red area towards back but near side.
Some other symptoms:
- skin feels warm touch especially from noon onwards and usually neck, ears, chest areas.
- minor post nasal drip which comes and goes
Otherwise feel pretty good.
Oral Candidiasis does not only occur if you have HIV... there are other reasons for Oral Candidiasis.. see below.. also you are right you don't want to self diagnose yourself, you're only going to drive yourself insane.
I recently got really sick and was coughing up A LOT of flem and i ended up getting Oral candidiasis.
What was your risk?

Diabetics with poorly controlled diabetes.
As a side effect of medication, most commonly having taken antibiotics.
Hello. Thank you for your reply. I was treated about a week ago for yeast infection and Dr. gave me Diflucan and vaginal cream. One week later now and still no relief. I am also experiencing terrible low back pain all along the lower back, like aching, not stabbing. I do not have blood in urine. I was tested for Trich, ghonorria, clamidia, and other std's and tests come back normal. I do have a slight pungent vaginal odor too. This morning I was having bladder pain and vaginal pain.
However, the vast majority of people with thrush (or other forms of candidiasis) do not have HIV and their immune systems are entirely normal. I once had oral candidiasis myself. Having thrush is not, in itself, a strong indicator of HIV infeciton.
Perhaps most important, HIV test results overrule all other considerations in deciding whether or not someone is infected, as long as testing is done sufficiently long after the last possible exposure.
Had unprotected vaginal sex with sex worker on 9-Feb. Noticed 2 or 3 oral candidiasis on 3-Mar (22 days) accompanied with tired, vomiting and muscle pain. Feel worried and go for a HIV test which using Ab/Ag Combo (ECLIA) on 4-Mar (23 days) the result is NOT DETECTED!
1. How accurate is the result on Day 22-23 / 3 Weeks with HIV Ab/Ag Combo (ECLIA)?

Hi all. Was looking for some help if poss. I have had oral trush i think for nearly 3 weeks now and cant seem to clear it up. I have being using Daktarin oral gel maybe i am using it wrong. It brushes of not all but most and is back by morning. But when I drink alchoel its crazy my tongue it completly white. Any body else have had this probem and what did they do to clear it.
I've had yellow discharge and burning when I pee for a year now. I've been tested for STI's they came back negative. I was just retested for chylmidia and ghonnera also negative! I'm scared because they told me at the gyno all it is is yeast but I've been through so many Diflucans with no relief! I do take alot of antibiotics because I get sinus infections alot. Could this cause a yeast infection so bad that Diflucan is not working? I now have to go to a specialist.
I agree with the tests that have been done thus far, and would exclude major GI causes of your symptoms.
A referral to a speech pathologist would be helpful. A modified barium swallow can be done to evaluate the swallowing mechanism.
Otherwise, medications can be considered to help with any esophageal dysmotility. This can include calcium channel blockers or injection with Botulinum toxin.
Another GI opinion can be considered, preferably at a major academic medical center.
Your description is not consistent with candidiasis. If your are highly motivated, go to the library and review any oral pathology or oral medicine textbook, your'll be able to see picture of.fordyce's granule.
White throat patches could also be a symptom of any STD, including Syphilis, but symptoms for Syphilis take more than 5 days represent from what I understand. It could also be Tonsillitis, or Candidiasis. Candidiasis is common in AIDS patients, but it takes years to develop AIDS after becoming HIV positive and Candidiasis can happen to anyone who isn't HIV/AIDS infected as well.
I have been having irritation in the vulva area for 6 days now. It started with me noticing a slight itching and little white bumps. These bumps went away within a day and were completely painless. However, the itching remained (I was on my period so I couldn't tell if there was discharge). I used anti-yeast infection cream on the skin as i thought it might be thrush related. The doctor said it doesn't look like classical herpes but there was no yest present internally either.
I went to my doctor and he thought it was geographic tongue. He also gave me nystatin just in case it was candidiasis. Took the nystatin for 6 days now and most of the spots have cleared up. Now im freaking out thinking it really was candidiasis :(

We all harbor candida in our bodies to a lesser or greater extent. Overgrowth in the mouth can create a condition called thrush. (Can you find out if your friend had thrush?) Systemic candidiasis is more rare and more problematic. I doubt that you can "catch" systemic candidiasis in the normal sense of that word. But if you are concerned, or show signs of candidiasis, please see your doctor.
