the diflucan has helped immensely and cleared it up completely. the HSV culture hasn't come backk yet though. Since diflucan worked, can I rule out herpes?
ve had for 2 months (this is my 3rd antibiotic in the last 2 months) and I have developed a very red rash starting right below the opening of my vagina, the skin beside it(kinda the start of my ver inner butt cheek), all the way up to my anus. The rash is itchy and sore (esp on my anus). It looks like a severe diaper rash. I've seen this type of rash on a friends child who had an external yeast infection. Is this possible that this is what I have?
Yes, yeast can and does cause a rash and itching/burning sensation. Typically the areas affected are the groin area and under the breasts. Sometimes under the belly if there is a bit of extra "fluff". Nystatin powder of Tegretol shampoo can work very well in these areas. Diflucan is a great drug for treating yeast that's "everywhere".
Colonoscopy won't cause yeast or GI problems, but is often done because of pre-existing GI problems.

I went thru this painful bleeding rash on my arms and legs for years..ugh its just awful. Went to every skin Dr and they were stumped..well I just had thyroid surgery to remmove toxic nodule and half my thyroid...guess what? The rash is finally clearing up all by it self now! Yaaaaay! Tell you Dr about it and insist you get your thyroid treated..myself I recomend the surgery over the radiation. A litter more painful but much safer esp for those of us with thyroid rash!
i saw the dr and he told me it was probably another prostate infection, possibly some urethritis, and a yeast infection! ARRGG!! he gave me more cipro and some diflucan. i took them both (1 diflucan) and took cipro for 10 days. symptoms in testicles and prostate felt better, but urethra was still hurting and uncomfortable mostly at night. my penis skin peeled like crazy, and the bumps got mostly better.

My GP recently dx'd me w/double ear infection & put me on Omnicef (I am an SJS survivor so antibiotics are a dangerous area for me as I developed SJS after taking Bactrim.. for an ear infection, no less!
He told me to take Diflucan once to re stabilize my digestive system and take acidopholus once daily. He also directed me to buy monstat topical cream to apply three times a day and selsun blue to apply once daily for 20 minutes, wow! I am not noticing anything getting better and was wondering how long before I should notice anything changing. My stomach cramps have subsided but not the infection on my penis tip.

I've been in considerable pain the past nearly 4 weeks now so I thought I would upload my question here. Its the first time I've used a site like this but looking for possible answers or a guide in the right direction. [I'll try to provide background and details of symptoms to current]
On the 16th of January I was sexually assaulted while in America by a man orally and anal. I'm a 24 year old gay male and have normally very good health.
My first outbreak (genital HSV-1) has lasted over 6 weeks also. I've been on Valtrex the entire time and have also tried Diflucan because the doctor thought that perhaps the symptoms were dragging on for so long due to a yeast infection. Two rounds of Diflucan provided no relief. I haven't experienced open sores; only clear bumps, a rash, cracks, swollen lymph nodes, itching and tenderness. I have also been tested for all other STDs and am negative for anything other than HSV-1.
After several treatments of Diflucan and Nitrix cream the discharge stopped but I still have pinching and itching externally on the labial area and the rectal area. There is no visible rash, just this relentless pinching and itching. My OB gave me a pap and said she screened for all the high risk HPVs. Could she still be missing something?
She recommended a gyn doctor that is good with diseases but he is no longer at the hospital she sent me too. I am constantly getting creams and diflucan for the yeast infections. I feel that my gyn is not meeting my need. I do not want to live on the creams and diflucan. I heard about a gyn on the radio that I would like to go to. I will make an appointment with her.
I never took diflucan long term. I will get two diflucans at one time.
Since i was confused on the Urethritis I convinced myself I had a yeast infection and on July 9th I took 150 MGS of Diflucan. My burning and discomfort in my genital region have gotten better, but since July 10th I have developed a couple of rashes on my back(right side) one is bit higher towards the middle and the other is down low. I never get rashes and now I am now freaking since getting this rash has got me thinking it is ARS, but I have no other symptoms, but occasional hot flashes.
The skin needs to go through some healing time and natural skin shedding time before the appearance will completely go away. Add a probiotic and cut back on sugar and processed flour foods and beer to get your body back to normal so you don't keep growing this stuff. And any time you use topical or oral antifungal, use the entire course. Don't stop early.
I took the second dose of Diflucan and made an appointment with a gyno. She did a full examination, and again I asked her about herpes. She said she did not see any blisters inside or outside the genital area. Diagnosed me with BV and said that the second round of Diflucan should clear it up. Meanwhile, I went to got tested for STD's-- results all negative.
