Avatar m tn Maybe your dermatologist should consider switching you to a lower concentration of Retin-A, or to a different treatment altogether if your dryness is still tough to handle. Best. Dr.
Avatar n tn Hello, Do not use any alpha hydroxy acid products (those containing glycolic or lactic acid), salicylic acid products, retinoids (Retin A, Renova, Differin and Tazorac) and other topical acne medications such as benzoyl peroxide for 72 hours after the treatment. Also any scarubbing or acne soaps should be avoided for atleast 1 week after the miscrodermabrasion procedure.
Avatar f tn Hello, It can be due to blackheads or whiteheads. It is a yellowish or blackish bump or plug on the skin and is a type of acne vulgaris. It is caused by excess oils that have accumulated in the sebaceous gland's duct. Cleanse the area thoroughly and apply a good mild exfoliating scrub on that. Apply a medicated cream or gel containing resorcinol, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. This helps is soaking the oil and helps in peeling away the blackheads.
Avatar n tn Treatment is either with oral or topical antibiotics (to kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin), topical retinoids (such as Differin or Retin-A), or anti-androgens (female patients only). If standard treatments result in failure or relapse your GP can refer you to a dermatologist for Roaccutane (oral Isotretinoin), the most powerful acne treatment available. What acne medication are you currently using? Retin-A will clear acne and heal the bruise-like scars you describe. Eloise.
Avatar m tn Toronto is too far away, can you cross the border to the Detroit suburbs for the day? That's close by! : ) I haven't heard of Swedish Skin, but I've heard that apple cider vinegar contains natural alpha hydroxy acids to detoxify skin and help the pH balance. If your dermatologist recommended to use the retin-a micro gel everyday, follow through with it. But if he/she didn't tell you already, the retin-a micro gel shouldn't be used with other treatments in combination.
Avatar m tn im guessing my skin is sensitive since i use retin a micro 0.1%.do you think the skin will grow back on my nose?its been about 5 days and it still doesnt look good.is there anything i can put on it without taking the skin off again that will make the skin grow faster?
Avatar m tn about an hour later I took a shower and the skin on my nose was really raw from picking at the pimple I also use retin a micro 0.1% on my nose to cause i been getting some pimples there.well anyway the water from the shower took a layer of skin right of my nose where I picked at the pimple.now I have this big red spot on the middle of my nose.
Avatar n tn no results Abt two months ago, I was prescribed Solodyn, I use neutrogena creamy wash, Retin-A and some hydroquinone for the dark spots. The solodyn make me break out in a HEAP of HIVES !! so I stopped taking it about 3 weeks ago and now I have been prescribe Bactrim? It seems that antibiotics are the ONLY thing that cure my acne since I have really oily skin. The topicals dry it out in the beginning, and I only apply a little, but then my sebaceous glands quickly make up for the lack of oil.
Avatar m tn • Skin gets very irritated when I’m in dry heat, whether in a car or a house. I get a burning, irritated sensation when I’m outdoors or near a window from the UV Rays - even on a cloudy day. • I get more pain and burning if I blush or when my temperature is up. • Tears make my face sting (possibly from salt in tears) • Skin is becoming more and more irritated as time goes on, yet I’m putting nothing on it anymore – just rinsing with water.
Avatar n tn I started using Retin-A Micro which is a medicine with .04% tretinoin, and while I did experience some side-effects which space_ghost specified, I continued to ignore the itching and applied the medicine daily...the spots have already began to clear up and the red/itching has decreased as well. As with all medicine, individual results vary.
Avatar n tn I am Using Retin-a-Micro-but it does not seem to be helping. can it be from a lack of vitamins or minerals?
382218 tn?1341181487 titanium dioxide, plus more in my moisturizer and makeup, and I never leave the house without it on, yes even during Canadian winter. ;) And because I use skin care products like AHA, BHA and Retin-A Micro, that increase cell turnover and stimulate collagen, again he felt that with this routine I ought to be avoiding this particular ravage of aging. Then bingo, light goes on, he knows I have MS and asked if I'd ever been treated with corticosteroids.
948202 tn?1245941816 Hello. I have been using retin-a 3 times a week and sulfacetamide 3 times a week (alternating each night). I just so happened to start reading the information for retin-a and it says, "if you have recently used products containing sulfur....use tretinoin with caution." Do i have something to be worried about?
Avatar m tn I am confused, as retin A cream is said to cause the skin to thin, and applying the cream is supposed to generate collegen which I though thickened the skin. Could you pleas explain? thank you.
Avatar f tn Extremely sensitive skin- adverse reactions to salicylic acid and anything higher than a 2% benzoyl peroxide. Have tried differin, retin-a, duac, also natural solutions such as tea tree oil, lemon, honey, coconut, eggs, yogurt, witch hazel. Also have tried systems such as proactiv and muriad to no avail. Have completely overhauled my diet- hardly any sugar, no white/ refined starches, very little dairy, no red meat, lots of veggies, lots of water. No caffine, little to no alcohol.
Avatar m tn But, recently I feel, I am going through the same ugly period, and my skin looks darker every time I use Retin A. So, should I stop it or is it just another ugly period that will go away, after some time?
Avatar n tn ve got medication prescribed to me by a previous dermatologist visit. Do you think Clindamycin Phosphate 1% or/and Retin-A-Micro would help with this problem? Oh and refering to your previous answer, when you say 'this is temporary', does that mean once I've gone to an esthetician, this will no longer be a problem or will it still flare up now and then? Thanks in advance doctor. I really appreciate the advice you give.
Avatar f tn Im not a doctor, however i have taken Differin and i would advise taking it constantly until the prescription runs out. Once it runs out, assess your skin- do you really need to keep taking it?? If this answer is a yes, refill the prescription and keep taking the Differin(In relation to taking it "permanently", i recommend doing this self- assessment everytime you fill the prescription, no matter how long you have been using it).
Avatar n tn ve been to the dermatologist office and they perscribed me with centaphil cleanser (soap free), benzoyl peroxide 5%, retin-a micro 0.04% and antibacterial pills. Its been a week since I started using these products ball all it seems to do is leave my skin burning while I wash it. I'm gussing it's a chemical burn but I'm not sure. I was also diagnosed with hypersensitive skin.
Avatar f tn Hello there, I am very worried that I may have accidentally harmed my baby without realizing it. I have used retin A for years for acne and wrinkles all over my face, and on my back and chest. I have used .1%. I found out at about 3 weeks pregnant that it can cause birth defects. I have stopped using it of course, but I am so scared. Studies on the internet say many different things. I welcome any thoughts for my situation. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
Avatar f tn Angebelle, thanks for your reply. That is good news about the Retin-A. I am going to a dermatologist in a few weeks, and and am going to ask for it. I always thought it was only for acne, so wish I knew sooner! I appreciate your descriptions about your Mom's skin. In the meantime, I will use my Vichy, which is highly rated, but as you say, is not prescription strength.. Thanks, so glad I am not smoking. If anyone has any comments on smoking damage and retinol, I'd appreciate it!!
