Common Questions and Answers about Difference between differin and retin a

differin

Avatar m tn do you think this is a good change or bad and why.im trying to uunderstand how the differin gel 0.3% not as strong as the retin a mico 0.1% i was on and minocycline 100 mg daily to 40 mg a day oracea for only redness and not pimples would help ?seems like it would make it worse..please explain...
Avatar n tn 20% of Accutane patients require a second or third course. You must wait 8 weeks between courses since acne can continue to clear during this time. If Retin-A does cause irritation try a gentler synthetic topical retinoid such as Differin (adapalene 0.1%) as this is very effective and generally well tolerated. See the Acne forum for more advice. Eloise.
Avatar n tn Hello, Do not use any alpha hydroxy acid products (those containing glycolic or lactic acid), salicylic acid products, retinoids (Retin A, Renova, Differin and Tazorac) and other topical acne medications such as benzoyl peroxide for 72 hours after the treatment. Also any scarubbing or acne soaps should be avoided for atleast 1 week after the miscrodermabrasion procedure.
Avatar n tn I get normal pimples tho but these come once in a while and theyre different and they start out as a small bruise and i can kind of feel a lump underneath but they stay there and manifest for longer and when they finally do pop theres alot of dark blood and pus and it always leaves a worse scar than my normal pimples. Shot in the dark if you reply but did you ever find out what it was or a solution for you?
Avatar m tn ve been off retin A for 3 weeks and my skin has become much more crepey and thin looking. It looks awful and I am praying she is right that it will eventually rebuild itself and look better. Is she right, will the crepey skin get better and plump up once my lipids rebuild? Or have I caused permanent damage?
Avatar f tn Extremely sensitive skin- adverse reactions to salicylic acid and anything higher than a 2% benzoyl peroxide. Have tried differin, retin-a, duac, also natural solutions such as tea tree oil, lemon, honey, coconut, eggs, yogurt, witch hazel. Also have tried systems such as proactiv and muriad to no avail. Have completely overhauled my diet- hardly any sugar, no white/ refined starches, very little dairy, no red meat, lots of veggies, lots of water. No caffine, little to no alcohol.
Avatar f tn Angebelle, thanks for your reply. That is good news about the Retin-A. I am going to a dermatologist in a few weeks, and and am going to ask for it. I always thought it was only for acne, so wish I knew sooner! I appreciate your descriptions about your Mom's skin. In the meantime, I will use my Vichy, which is highly rated, but as you say, is not prescription strength.. Thanks, so glad I am not smoking. If anyone has any comments on smoking damage and retinol, I'd appreciate it!!
Avatar n tn So if you find anything that helps the forhead acne let me know!! For a bit I used Nivea face wash and cream and it helps a little.
Avatar n tn My daughter developed drug-induced autoimmune hepatitis after taking Solodyn for her acne. After a liver biopsy and a nine month course of prednisone she is much better and, hopefully, the autoimmune hepatitis has reversed. What did finally work for her is IPL (intense pulsed light) laser treatments. She had the treatments in May and her face is still, for the most part, clear of acne. And, it is drug free!
Avatar m tn It had a white tip and was a little painful if you pushed on it. I messed with it a little bit, and the next day it had swollen up and was warm, like an infection. Since then, I have been using Abreva and Differin on it. The Differin makes the largest difference – it reduces the size significantly. When it first showed up, it looked a lot like this picture: http://www.adamjbc.f2s.com/dlc/test/Photo-0171.jpg.
197575 tn?1215532624 Is there a difference between a complex nodule and a complex cystic nodule? I know complex means both solid and cystic. My friend's ultrasound call it a complex cystic nodule. Thanks.
948202 tn?1245941816 Hello. I have been using retin-a 3 times a week and sulfacetamide 3 times a week (alternating each night). I just so happened to start reading the information for retin-a and it says, "if you have recently used products containing sulfur....use tretinoin with caution." Do i have something to be worried about?
1155893 tn?1263018015 Hey, My dermo gave me Retin A cream to go along with my accutane. She said it would help clear up some of the dark spots I had on my skin from the acne. Will this help? What is this stuff usually used for ?
Avatar m tn I am confused, as retin A cream is said to cause the skin to thin, and applying the cream is supposed to generate collegen which I though thickened the skin. Could you pleas explain? thank you.

Avatar n tn my chin has really darkened in the past year and it is embarassing as it looks like i have a beard. i have tried retin-A which has not seemed to make any difference. please could u suggest something?
Avatar n tn Hi- I know that within the first few weeks of using Differin it is normal to have some irritation, redness, and peeling of the skin, but I have about 5 bright red patches on my skin after using this topical. When in the light I notice that on these patches there seems to be a top layer of thin skin. The Differin has subsided my breakouts nicely, but I am still left with these very noticeable red spots all over my face and I am absolutely freaking out.
Avatar f tn I heard that broken capillaries caused by retin a doesnt go away fully. Retin a causes vascularization which is dark circles under the eyes. Retin a thins the skin and exposes veins under the eye. This has to be treated with laser treatments because apparently it doesnt go away. I dont understand the use of Retin A. It worsens the skin wrinkles, acne, thin skin, dark circles....and then after 6 months or years of use..."you hope" that itll get better...
203342 tn?1328737207 Does anyone know what the difference is between a Nutritionist and a Dietitian is? I tried to get my insurance to refer me to dietitian but they won't cover it. Then a friend recommended I talk to a Nutritionist. I've been having gastro problems the last couple of years. They're not sure if I have Crohn's or what. I do have the inflammation and diarrhea. And have had ulcers in the past. I can't seem to eat ANYTHING anymore. Everything upsets my stomach, even healthy foods.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Retin A about an year now, and my skin has improved a lot. So, when I started I had this ugly period as expected. But, recently I feel, I am going through the same ugly period, and my skin looks darker every time I use Retin A. So, should I stop it or is it just another ugly period that will go away, after some time?
Avatar f tn Im not a doctor, however i have taken Differin and i would advise taking it constantly until the prescription runs out. Once it runs out, assess your skin- do you really need to keep taking it?? If this answer is a yes, refill the prescription and keep taking the Differin(In relation to taking it "permanently", i recommend doing this self- assessment everytime you fill the prescription, no matter how long you have been using it).
