Avatar f tn Well, my 50-something Mom swears by Retin-A. She was a sun-worshipper for many years and because of her sensitive fair skin, she has sun damage. She's been using prescription strength Retin-A for several years on her face and there is a very noticeable difference in the condition of her skin on her face vs. her neck or decolletage where it isn't applied. I have complimented her facial skin on a few occasions and she always says it's because of Retin-A.
Avatar n tn I suspect it is too harsh as complaints about increased wrinkles from retin A are just a google away. It sounds like it's just too drying. The last thing you want is to be pulling at your eyes because they feel tight and itchy. Maybe try something with vitamin C. That seems to soften fine lines well, but do not get it in your eyes because it has enough acid to cause a burning sensation.

Avatar f tn Hello there, I am very worried that I may have accidentally harmed my baby without realizing it. I have used retin A for years for acne and wrinkles all over my face, and on my back and chest. I have used .1%. I found out at about 3 weeks pregnant that it can cause birth defects. I have stopped using it of course, but I am so scared. Studies on the internet say many different things. I welcome any thoughts for my situation. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Hello, Do not use any alpha hydroxy acid products (those containing glycolic or lactic acid), salicylic acid products, retinoids (Retin A, Renova, Differin and Tazorac) and other topical acne medications such as benzoyl peroxide for 72 hours after the treatment. Also any scarubbing or acne soaps should be avoided for atleast 1 week after the miscrodermabrasion procedure.
Avatar n tn Treatment is either with oral or topical antibiotics (to kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin), topical retinoids (such as Differin or Retin-A), or anti-androgens (female patients only). If standard treatments result in failure or relapse your GP can refer you to a dermatologist for Roaccutane (oral Isotretinoin), the most powerful acne treatment available. What acne medication are you currently using? Retin-A will clear acne and heal the bruise-like scars you describe. Eloise.
Avatar f tn Other treatment methods include prescription acid creams or peels, stronger retinoids such as Retin A, Botox( botulinum toxin) ,non invasive or carbon dioxide laser and a surgical facelift. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn A related discussion, retin-a after accutane was started.
Avatar m tn My esthetician said this was caused by the dehydration. So I went to a different dermatologist whose solution was to stop using retin A for a while and use Oil of Olay on my skin. I was quite upset that I waited 2 1/2 months to be given the same advice my mother would have given me. My esthetician told me it would take 12-18 weeks to rebuild the lipids I'd destroyed and that my skin would look worse before looking better.
Avatar f tn is there a cream or anything at all that helps reduce the wrinkles and stretch marks on stomach? I've been using a dermal roller at least once in two weeks. I see improvements but I need a stronger cream.
Avatar f tn Over one year my skin has become a bag of wrinkles - my facem my arms my legs - basically all over. THis is very depressing as I seem to be withering much faster than all my contemporaries. Yet I have always been conscientious about exercising and eating the right foods. Can anyone shed any light on this or is there no solution to this deterioration? ... I am 54.
Avatar n tn no results Abt two months ago, I was prescribed Solodyn, I use neutrogena creamy wash, Retin-A and some hydroquinone for the dark spots. The solodyn make me break out in a HEAP of HIVES !! so I stopped taking it about 3 weeks ago and now I have been prescribe Bactrim? It seems that antibiotics are the ONLY thing that cure my acne since I have really oily skin. The topicals dry it out in the beginning, and I only apply a little, but then my sebaceous glands quickly make up for the lack of oil.
Avatar f tn The newest treatment for age spots is an alpha hydroxy acid gel or beta hydroxy acid gel. Retin-A cream, alpha hydroxyacid peels, and liquid nitrogen therapy are other options. I hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.

Avatar m tn t understand what I was talking about, or they asked if I wanted a prescription for retin A. I have a feeling like it may be sun damage from when I was younger, however when you are young aren't most kids out in the sun all day? Why don't they have the same problem as me then? And if it was sun damage, it is kind of extreme for a 19 year old to get the visible effects, as sun damage is more cumulative and tends to show up when you are in your 30's.
1155893 tn?1263018015 I used Retin-A last year. This only works if you are using it long term. It helps your skin to let go of dead skin cells so they don't clog your pores. And helps get rid of damaged areas. From what I understand, it makes way for new skin. It worked quite well for me, until I had to stop because I'm trying to start a family. But as soon as it is safe to, I will be using it again to get rid of scarring from hives on my face.
948202 tn?1245941816 Hello. I have been using retin-a 3 times a week and sulfacetamide 3 times a week (alternating each night). I just so happened to start reading the information for retin-a and it says, "if you have recently used products containing sulfur....use tretinoin with caution." Do i have something to be worried about?
Avatar m tn I doubt that Retin A will have any effect on the skin below the brow. It is ideal for very fine lines like those around the eyes or in the cheeks.
Avatar f tn Extremely sensitive skin- adverse reactions to salicylic acid and anything higher than a 2% benzoyl peroxide. Have tried differin, retin-a, duac, also natural solutions such as tea tree oil, lemon, honey, coconut, eggs, yogurt, witch hazel. Also have tried systems such as proactiv and muriad to no avail. Have completely overhauled my diet- hardly any sugar, no white/ refined starches, very little dairy, no red meat, lots of veggies, lots of water. No caffine, little to no alcohol.
Avatar m tn Maybe your dermatologist should consider switching you to a lower concentration of Retin-A, or to a different treatment altogether if your dryness is still tough to handle. Best. Dr.
Avatar n tn t done much for me either. But have you tried low percentage retin-a cream? This may be a solution for you. Applied at night, the thin layer of cream can do wonders in a matter of weeks, and over several months, there's a big improvement. I've used it as an acne treatment, and my 50+ age mother uses it for acne, wrinkles, and overall skin appearance. She looks fabulous for her age!
Avatar f tn I have used a generic version of Retin-A for about 2 months and I love how my skin looks... now. In the beginning it peeled as though I had a serious sunburn. It was sensitive and burned when I applied any moisturizer. I also went through a period of intense acne ( I do not have acne issues in general). After three weeks all of these symptoms decreased and now my skin glows. I have very few break outs and when I do they clear up very quickly. The peeling has stop and so has the burning.
Avatar n tn I got Differin from the doctor and used it for 6 months with no results. Is he to young to start to serious ritual? He is adopted and his birth mom has very serious acne. He is very worried about all these pimples. He started getting them at nine. The doctor told me they aren't really acne but I forgot what he called them so I could look them up.
Avatar f tn Dear doctor! How long can I use Differin (adaferin, adapalene)?
Avatar m tn I have been taking Retin A about an year now, and my skin has improved a lot. So, when I started I had this ugly period as expected. But, recently I feel, I am going through the same ugly period, and my skin looks darker every time I use Retin A. So, should I stop it or is it just another ugly period that will go away, after some time?
