Differin and blackheads

Common Questions and Answers about Differin and blackheads

differin

Avatar n tn See your doctor for a topical retinoid called Differin (adapalene 0.1%). This is very good at dealing with blackheads and acne. Do not try to remove the blackheads by squeezing as this can spread bacteria under the skin causing more breakouts. It can also delay healing and lead to secondary infection. A good face wash for oily skin is Estee Lauder's Sparkling Clean. Washing alone will not heal acne or blackheads so do ask your doctor about Differin.
Avatar m tn i also wash face with mild cleanser and apply moisturizer, after apply moisturizer on my nose still becomes more oily. I went to see the dermatologist and he given me the differin cream, differin also make my nose oily and did not stop the oil production, which is also not helping, i very hopeless right now. please help with my oily nose.
Avatar n tn I bought a pack of those Biore Pore Nose Strips and attempted to get the blackheads out of my nose for a cleaner and clearer look after all these years. When trying to peel it off after it had adhesed(dried), I noticed that it was extremely difficult to the point where my eyes began tearing. Eventually towards the end of the peeling off I had enough and just sort of forced it off.
Avatar n tn I have really oily skin, lots of white and blackheads and acne scarring (dark spots) resulted from these pimples. I was prescribed the same treatment that had worked so well before (minus the Doryx) but of course it didnt work one bit this time. I was then prescribed Differin and Finacea..no results Abt two months ago, I was prescribed Solodyn, I use neutrogena creamy wash, Retin-A and some hydroquinone for the dark spots. The solodyn make me break out in a HEAP of HIVES !!
Avatar f tn just blackheads on the nose and occasional little pimples here and there.
Avatar m tn PLEASE nobody give me advice to exfoliate, or use a certain soap, or eat a certain food, or sleep more, or hang upside-down....or any other common-sensical, mundane, foolish, witch-craft-ish, herbal...or otherwise foolish advice or something that I obviously would have thought of. this has been going on for half of my 28 yr life...
Avatar n tn Is it normal to have such a reaction and if so, how can I help this heal, and how long will it probably take? By the way, I stopped applying the Differin when I got the reaction. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Im not a doctor, however i have taken Differin and i would advise taking it constantly until the prescription runs out. Once it runs out, assess your skin- do you really need to keep taking it?? If this answer is a yes, refill the prescription and keep taking the Differin(In relation to taking it "permanently", i recommend doing this self- assessment everytime you fill the prescription, no matter how long you have been using it).
Avatar m tn he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....i was reading the paper that comes with oracea~doxycycline and it says it doesnt kill bacteria now im getting worried because minocycline does kill bacteria now im worried i will break out more from the oracea.it says its for rosacea but doest oracea work to kill acne to or no?and the differin gel 0.3% isnt this not as strong drying to dry up pimples as retin a micro 0.1%?
Avatar m tn Thank you I have gone ahead and ordered the Paulas Choice 2% BHA lotion which is supposed to be great for blackheads, pores and blemishes, so will see how this goes.. Hopefully this should do the trick,.
Avatar n tn My acne rarely got bad, but I almost always seem to have a few zits, few ingrown hairs, few blackheads, and a few inflamed whiteheads. I do have periods when I am pretty clear, but this usually only lasts a few days. My dermatologist decided it was time to give accutane a try. I did a 7 month course and reached the target cumulative dose of 120 mg/kg. I did not have much of an initial breakout, was pretty much clear for months 3 to 6. Near the end of my course I started to get a few zits.
Avatar f tn Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
Avatar m tn I am really hoping that persistent blackheads that have been there for years is the root problem and that by getting rid of them, the bumps go away too. After using that blackhead serum, I see some blackheads coming to the top of the skin and can see that there are literally blackheads all over underneath the bumps.
Avatar n tn t go through the day without looking in the mirror and noticing the horrible blackheads all over my nose. Right now I use water and a dead skin cell remover that helps get rid of them, but is not working strongly enough. Basically, I use warm water first to open up the pores then I use the dead skin cell remover and try to wash them out as best as I can. Afterwords, I will use cold water and splash it over my face for about 5 minutes.
Avatar f tn A lot of clean eating, little to no milk, dairy, no commercial cleaners, no commercal laundry detergents, I could go on and on. I did it for asthma and health and the clear skin came along with. Castor oil is amazing on your skin, it pulls them right out! Look up castor oil cleaning for your skin. Wish I found this stuff before years of worthless toxic rxs!
Avatar f tn I have little bumps on the inner thigh and down my legs a bit and i pop them and they have a little white thing in the middle and they leave a scar. If I don't pop them they get bigger and hurt and when i pop them when they're big they have several little round white things hooked together. What are they? My husband and I have never had other partners and he doesn't have them. I got them when I got pregnant and hoped they would go away once I had my son. They didn't.
Avatar f tn He did recently start using Proactive again, and he washes with a soft facial brush and Cetaphil lotion, and the blackheads do look better, but are still very much there. What do you think of the Clarisonic face brush one poster suggested? I read quite a number of reviews on it, and most people seem to think it works wonders. Thank you again for taking the time...
Avatar f tn So for years now I've been getting blackheads and boils in a rather embarassing part of my body, my bottom. They are where the skin of the cheeks rub together. They pretty much never drain and they always turn up. It's very embarassing and I was wondering if other people had it/ if it is normal and if there is any way to get rid of them. I keep that area very clean but they turn up regardless.
1393946 tn?1280190408 I think you should see a dermatologist. If the blackheads are coming back, their are ointments and creams that are less abrasive that you could try. If your skin is discolored, it is probably from whatever chemical they used during the facial. Either way, I think you need to see an actual dermatologist to get treatment. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Eight years ago I had a rash around my lip that I treated with a steroid cream, which then caused Perioral Dermatitis. My dermatologist gave my minocyline for 1 month and metro cream which completely cleared it up. Three months ago the dermatitis came back, I was not using any steriod cream at the time, but I believe it flared because of a new concealer I was using to cover a little redness around my nose.
1847035 tn?1327274923 Smells veryyyy minty though my eyes water sometimes if i leave it on to long ( more then 5 minutes ) because the smell is so strong, for big pimples i just take a dab and leave it on overnight, i know it sounds crazy and ridiculous but it really works! Also blackheads take a bobbypin and rub it down on them and they usually come out! Ik ik both weird things.
Avatar f tn I have small little white pimples under my skin ( it feels grainy) and small blackheads even sometimes on my sholders. is retin-a micro going to work . my doctor recommended it, but he didn't give me any toner or moisturizer to use and retin-a makes my skin feel dry. and he even didn't seem to care much so, now i am wondering if it is gonna work :-( and what products to use to keep my pores clean. to prevent more blackheads.
Avatar n tn Yeah, they are definitely blackheads. My husband gets them on his inner thighs, too. If you squeeze them, they'll come out and go away.
1632818 tn?1299941302 She told me to buy some cetaphil cleanser and gave me a sample, and then she prescribed me differin which she said was for my "acne". I found this strange since I only had one pimple on my chin, and that's about as bad as it ever gets (and I wasn't bothered by having a pimple). I clarified that my problem was that my skin was sensitive, sore and feels like its burning after washing, and asked if differin would dry out my skin.
Avatar f tn I get zits and blackheads in that area and stubborn blackheads in the corners of my mouth. So stinking annoying.
