My daughter has been batteling UTI's for 2 years now. I am at my wits end with the doctors but it is hard to switch because there are no other pediatric nephrologists/urologists unless we drive almost 2 hours. We are already traveling 1 hour. It all started 2 years ago, She had about 8-9 Uti's within a 15 month period. She was given every type of antibiotic- bactrum, macrobid, macrodantin ect, ect. Always the same result, the infection would return within a month or so.
The antibiotics in the penicillin family can cause vaginal yeast infections and diarrhea in women by affecting the normal vaginal and colon bacteria. The better drug would be macrodantin 100mg at night if your cultures are sensitive to it. Long term cipro is also not good because it will cause antibiotic resistent bacteria to eventually grow. Since you are structurally normal and there is no obvious focus of infection long term antibiotic suppression may be your only answer.
Hi.. has anyone else taken macrobid for uti?? Is it normal to feel horribly sick with it? How did you all deal with the nausea? My doc gave me reglan but it doesn't seem to be helping and I'm hardly half way with macrobid.. I've been non functional while taking it and it's getting worse every day.
Any advise on dealing with it will be appreciated..
She said at the end of urinating it kind of tingles and there was some presure and pain in her bladder area, but no burning.. Just tingling and pressure/pain in her bladder area.. So anyway she went to the doctor and they said she had a uti, and gave her macrobid. She said they were also doing a urine culture, but its been two weeks and she has not mentioned any results.. In a case of yeast in the genitals, over the counter products like Monistat and canesten work well and you will begin to notice a difference after about one week. For the bowel, you need to eat a lot of yhogurt, as well as acidohilis. You might even need to get prescription from a doctor. Well Idk about any of u but I get uti's when I get pregnant and this is my 3rd pregnancy I'm in and due in about 6 weeks and every time I get prescribed keflex and both my girls are fine and so is my son.
I saw PCP again 2 days ago for hip pain (injury over 1 yr ago) plus continued issues in my legs that I believe are a side effect of the UTI and Macrobid.
I continue to have nerve pain upper legs, muscle dysfunction upper leg, intermittent sudden bloating lower legs with intermittent ice cold feet (hot upper legs.) I still feel like I am on the cusp of recurrent UTI.
yes I have been to the doctor and told that they are UTI's...and my husband has good hygiene so I don't think that's the problem...perhaps I am just more prone to getting them! And I'm not familiar with a macrobid...what is that?

I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this? It is getting rather annoying and saddens me cause it feels like i cant do anymore what i like to. If anyone has had the same thing happen, please let me know im not alone... How can the weakness and numbness be stopped.

This usally happens when we have frequent sex (a couple of times daily) or prolong vaginal sex. I use to take macrodantin and cipro and I would clear. Now the macrodantin is not effective and I needed to take cipro with doxy for 21 days and that seemed to finally clear. I have had a test for gc or ngu and it was negative. I do not have pain when i urinate so I feel that it may not be a UTI but PID. Any idea's on what to do?

I was proscribed it. I habe two different drs and im.being induced monday. And it DIRECTLY states dont use it 37 weeks or later or close to delivery. .. im scared and this pregnancy is so freaking hard on me. Im getting to the point of giving up. And i dont want to cause my boy and family need me to fight.
Are you taking macrobid for a uri? I think what is also very often the case with what appears to be spotting during treatment is that the uti in itself can cause what appears to be spotting or a period. https://drhouse.com/can-a-uti-cause-bleeding-like-a-period/ In those cases, it's an inflammatory response. And it gets better when the uti is healed and enough time passes for normalization. The antibiotics kill off bacteria causing the uti which then reduces inflammation.
around the 5th day I noticed I had hightened anxiety in the middle of the day and night where I just started to panic and thinking about my future and just kind of feeling hopeless out of the blue. Then last night and today I have been struggling with the worst anxiety and depression at random moments, unlike anything I have ever had. Luckily I am finished with it at this point but is this normal to have these strange anxiety/panic moments while on an antibiotic?
