Macrobid at 38 weeks and had the baby come out fine?
The antibiotics in the penicillin family can cause vaginal yeast infections and diarrhea in women by affecting the normal vaginal and colon bacteria. The better drug would be macrodantin 100mg at night if your cultures are sensitive to it. Long term cipro is also not good because it will cause antibiotic resistent bacteria to eventually grow. Since you are structurally normal and there is no obvious focus of infection long term antibiotic suppression may be your only answer.
Does the antibiotic macrobid used to treat uti's decrease the effectiveness of birth control? Because I'm on the pill and I shouldn't get my period for another week and I've been bleeding.. This makes me nervous because while taking macrobid I had sex without a condom, he pulled out, but I know that's not always a safe alternative either.
I know that during early pregnancy bleeding isn't uncommon. I'm scared out of my mind..
VE BEEN BLEEDING SINCE THE 3RD AND IM STILL BLEEDING BUT NOT ALOT LIKE I WAS YESTERDAY AND THE DAYS BEFORE BUT THE BLEEDING HAS LIGHTENED. I was prescribed this at the er.. my first prenatal appointment is on the 19th, by when I'll be done with this macrobid.. I guess suffering through it is the only way..
I use to take macrodantin and cipro and I would clear. Now the macrodantin is not effective and I needed to take cipro with doxy for 21 days and that seemed to finally clear. I have had a test for gc or ngu and it was negative. I do not have pain when i urinate so I feel that it may not be a UTI but PID. Any idea's on what to do?
I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this? It is getting rather annoying and saddens me cause it feels like i cant do anymore what i like to. If anyone has had the same thing happen, please let me know im not alone... s an inflammatory response. And it gets better when the uti is healed and enough time passes for normalization. The antibiotics kill off bacteria causing the uti which then reduces inflammation. So, I'd say this is a real possibility. I know you posted a link which I opened and read. I guess they are studying it but it does appear to be pretty rare. If you look at that data, it's like 2 patients being looked at in one study and 20 out of 7,500 patients in another for .

PS -- I neglected to say that Macrodantin is the brand name of generic nitrofurantoin, which is the name used in the information above.
I do I have been using one called Megael-Dena and I am very satisfied because after my last antibiotic treatment I had a lot of complications in my bowel function. I had "antibiotic phobia" and I never thought I would ever take antibiotics again until I had tonsillitis and I told my doctor that antibiotics made me very sick. He suggested this probiotic with penicillin and I didn't experience the same symptoms over again and for that I am thankful.
m a ftm too currently 27wk and around 22wks I had went to my doc complaining about the same thing burning after urinating and the test came bak negative for a uti but the pain did not go away so I went bak a few days later and sure enuff it was a uti so they prescribed me macrobid and I was fine for about a week after but then I had to go bak to the hospital becus all the pain came bak.

You should notice the expiry date of the tablet Macrobid and then take it only under medical supervision after consulting your doctor. Macrobid has some side effects and should be taken only after a doctor’s prescription.

Was in the ER weekend before last. Diagnosed me with a UTI, and put me on Macrobid 100mg BID. Got a call yesterday, they said my culture reads that the bacteria in my urine is resistant to Macrobid. So apparently they didn't do a Culture and Sensitivity test when I was in the ER like they should have. I had to pay $50 for the Macrobid that I took, that didn't and wouldn't do diddly-squat for my "UTI". I think I was misdiagnosed and mistrated with the Macrobid.
yes I have been to the doctor and told that they are UTI's...and my husband has good hygiene so I don't think that's the problem...perhaps I am just more prone to getting them! And I'm not familiar with a macrobid...what is that?
The only thing I was ever told I could take for it since I was pregnant was Macrobid. You should call your doctor tomorrow and ask about the Macrobid. Also try drinking cranberry juice, or if you can't stand it (i can't) try the OTC cranberry pills, they should help just the same as the juice. I forget exactly how its supposed to help but it does.
