Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me Sertraline 25mg on top of my existing med. The first day I took Sertraline I got stomach upset and diarrhea; reduced to 12.5mg now. I m suffering side-effects like I'm having a fever(fatigue, sweaty, chills at times). On top of that, my menstruation's cramp is exceptionally bad this time, not sure it was affected by Sertraline. I am not sure this med would help me anymore. Hope someone could induce more positive effects about Sertraline.
Avatar n tn ll see new warnings not to combine tamoxifen with certain SSRIs..paroxetine, fluoxetine, and sertraline. .... Women have a higher risk of breast cancer recurrence if they take tamoxifen along with paroxetine, fluoxetine, or sertraline... but NOT citalopram, escitalopram, or fluvoxamine. .....About 30% of women on tamoxifen also take an SSRI for depression or hot flashes. FDA will add new warnings..
Avatar f tn Hi, I am wondering if anyone knows the difference between apo-sertraline and pms-sertraline? I can't afford to purchase my prescription for pms-sertraline, my mom takes the apo version and gets her prescriptions for free under gov't funding. If there's a difference, I obviously won't take her meds but if it's the same thing I don't see the harm. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Is it normal to feel so physically fatigued and I’ll with anxiety and depression? Why did sertraline stop working after 3 years? Will ssri ever work for me again?

Avatar f tn Some common SSRIs include fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine and sertraline. The study listed other pharmacologic treatments for skin picking, such as inositol, clomipramine, doxepin, inositol, lamotrigine, olanzapine, naltrexone and riluzole. In addition, the study suggested that the prescription medication worked best if combined with cognitive-behavioral therapy. Read more: http://www.livestrong.
Avatar f tn Are the symptoms I am experiencing a side effect of sertraline? I am on day 16 of taking 50mg sertraline after switching from cymbalta to try and find a saferdrug to try for pregnancy. Week one I was emotional but that settled down and week two was manageable and i felt generally calmer. However by day 14 anxiety smptoms worsened and i am feeling flushed in the face and tingly in arms and waking early feeling unable to cope with nerves and sweating. Should I stick it out?
Avatar f tn Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.
Avatar m tn I had my first episode when I was 22 , and the second 4 years later, after a similar occasion. I then started fluoxetine 20 mg, which worked miraculously, with no side effects whatsoever. However, after quitting, I always seemed to get depression back, so I went back on it.I also tried therapy, with no results. After a few years my doctor switched me to Sertraline, and for the first time , I began to get tremor, an annoying peri-oral sensation with some mild jaw tremor and severe bruxism.
Avatar f tn I read that anxiety and stuttering are not directly linked and that it might be due to sertraline. Will this go away or will I just have to get on with it, and will this anxiety go away eventually or is it the sertraline causing it? Any ideas would be great please.
897400 tn?1303329148 It has equivalent antidepressant efficacy to several classical antidepressant agents (amitriptyline, clomipramine, imipramine, mianserin) and the SSRIs fluoxetine (in most patients), paroxetine and sertraline. Comparison with maprotiline indicated superior efficacy for tianeptine but dothiepin appeared superior in another study. Extended treatment with tianeptine decreases the incidence of relapse/recurrence of depression.
Avatar f tn i want to avoid being on anything that means I have to avoid foods, i have very little appetite due to my eating disorder and being on sertraline, I need medication that doesn't limit my diet EVEN MORE, as it makes things a bit tricky.
1305597 tn?1275336446 citalopram (celexa), fluoxetine (prozac), sertraline (zoloft). Another medication that is sometimes added to SSRI in the treatment of depression is bupropion (welbutrin) and it has even been shown to cause a small weight loss over the first few months (it suppresses the appetite). However, if the eating disorder you are is either anorexia or bulimia this is not an option because during clinical trails bupropion caused a slightly increased rate of new seizures in those two eating disorders.
1063764 tn?1272821064 be an interaction between melatonin and Prozac (fluoxetine). Some evidence comes from animal studies, but how these relate to humans is still unresolved (as far as I know; I been out of the loop for a couple years. In animal studies, melatonin does decrease levels of fluoxetine, but the significance of this is in question. A molecule related to fluoxetine, fluvoxamine (Luvox) naturally increases blood levels of melatonin.
Avatar f tn I was on Sertraline for quite a while, and know that it can cause heart problems, and you have to be regularly checked. It did not cause me any problems in that way. I was then put on Effexor because I was told it had less side effects. It does however cause weight gain. It is difficult for you to know what to do. You can try the paroxetine and see how you go. I don't have any other suggestions.
Avatar f tn These medications are also used to treat Trichotillomania and OCD and include clomipramine, fluoxetine (prozac), sertraline, paroxetine, fluvoxamine, citalopram, escitalopram, nefazodone and venlafaxine. These new generation antidepressants - the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors - are really safe. I'm on them myself. You can also try some behaviour therapy like habit reversal training and with Exposure and Response Prevention which some nail biters find helpful. Hope that helps!
Avatar m tn I'm a 30yr old male. I was on Sertraline approx 10 years ago for depression and it seemed to work until a crash. For one reason or another over the years, my treatment has changed several times. It is 2011 and i have found my way back to sertraline. I am currently taking 10mg of buspirone 2x day and 15mg of mirtazapine for major depression and generalized anxiety. I have been feeling constantly tired, apathetic and despondent.
1910757 tn?1348683319 The depression was triggered by a stressful situation at college, which also caused me a lot of stress and anxiety. At first I was put on Fluoxetine, Clonazepam (0,25 during the day if I ever felt very anxious) and Zolpidem at night, since I was having trouble sleeping. I also decided to postpone college for one semester in order to get some rest.

Avatar m tn An analysis of eight clinical studies which investigated the effects of taking EPA and/or DHA from fish oil with various anti-depressants (including SSRI drugs such as fluoxetine and sertraline and tricyclic drugs such as amitriptyline) found that, overall, there appeared to be additive benefit, especially from EPA in doses of about 1,000 mg — 2,000 mg per day, concluding, "EPA-rich omega-3 fish oil may be recommended for the adjunctive treatment of major depressive disorder.

Avatar m tn Hi Nick, In short, anything is possible and many meds mixing together certainly make it harder to know what is doing what. Norvasc appears to be for blood pressure normally and a list of drug interactions can be found here : http://www.rxlist.com/norvasc-drug.htm. I claim no knowledge except of what site to look at for this info. Much of it I wouldn't follow either but it will hopefully mean something to you.
197575 tn?1215532624 Is there a difference between a complex nodule and a complex cystic nodule? I know complex means both solid and cystic. My friend's ultrasound call it a complex cystic nodule. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Most likely the psychiatrist would turn to one of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, such as the ones you listed (though probably not Paxil). In addition to Zoloft (sertraline), citalopram and fluoxetine are possibilities. Anxiety disorders are very treatable, with a combination of medication and cognitive-behavioral treatment.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I'm in the uk and have suffered with anxiety and a phobia of thunderstorms, I take fluoxetine and gabapentin, this anxiety is now out of hand as it's just been said that we are due for severe thunderstorms in two days time.
Avatar m tn Wow, you have certainly had it rough. Most folks don't have any problems withdrawing from sertraline following the schedule that you followed. One tricky thing about stopping these medications is that there are at least three things that can happen that are difficult - 1.
527657 tn?1214051850 My heart was fluttering and I just felt numb and tingly. Im back on the paxil now that i know works and i can sleep and no side effects. thanks for your reply.
