Common Questions and Answers about Diabetic living in australia

diabetes

Avatar n tn I am 62 and quite healthy. I am a type 2 diabetic and smoke. Recently while I was driving in Jakarta and saw a banner promoting heart CT scan. I took this chance and did the scan. I was told by the local doctor my calcium score was 252. She wanted me to see a Cardiologist as soon as possible. The next day I did see the local Cardiologist. He did a normal stress test ( without ECHO) and said I was OK and requested me to take a baby Asprin daily.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have any names of docs in Canada who deal with AD. We were vacationing in Australia, both got bit by jellyfish. I had AD for 3 months and it went away. He still has it after 2 years. He was healthy, young 35 yr old with no health issues. It's crazy, I could make a movie out of our experience. Any help is appreciated.
605252 tn?1220112165 One problem with diabetes is that when the body goes into a high sugar situation, the body draws excessive water from the blood, causing dehydration. The dehydration, in turn, causes blood to clot in tiny vessels. This can cause stroke. It is important for a diabetic to remain hydrated. That being said, you need an evaluation NOT at a diabetic clinic but at a stroke specialty center. The symptoms you describe are clearly neurological in nature.
Avatar f tn In Australia there are around 28,000 people living with HIV,In the UK it's just under 100,000.Over a 1,000 people are diagnosed with HIV in Australia every year and the numbers are rising and the reason for this is that ARV's are keeping people alive and healthy and because HIV is not a death sentence anymore people have become more complacent, especially young people.

Avatar n tn Exercises hypoglycemia in non-diabetic subjects by Jf. Burn,M. Dumortier, C.Fedoa, J Mercer. Insulin tranports glucose to the muscle cells for utilization. You can exercise all you want but if insulin is not present in the recipe then the whole thing is an exercise in futility. The medical community advises physical activity such as walking, mowing the lawn, dancing, gardening, etc which is better than just sitting in front of the television and becoming fat.

5727805 tn?1378193052 My sister in law is newly pregnant and not originally from Australia. I am a new zealander so don't know much about Australian birth care. But are midwives used?? Or do you see the doctor? She is An Australian permanent resident. Here in NZ is it simple, you just contact a midwife and go from there. Is it that simple in Australia?
