These include poor circulation, neuropathy (nerve pain), muscle damage, at worst even ulcers that do not heal. See a podiatrist is a good start. Avatar f tn This is not a question but a comment (forgive me, I am new to this forum.) I tried to comment on this, but it keeps taking me to the question section. For the person whose uncle was diagnosed at 73 with Cystic Fibrosis: believe it, and help him buy a juicer. He has a mild case and different mutation (may not have even been documented yet.) Carrot/orange or carrot/apple at least twice a day and he will be ok, with the strong antibiotics that are now available.

Avatar f tn Helen, I would go back to the doctor already to be seen and not wait the five days. Wound management in persons with diabetes is critical to prevent complications. The treatment if the wound should be very agressive to make sure this heals. Please also work hard to control your blood sugar very well (ideally below 140 at all times), to help the healing process. Let us know how you go.
Avatar f tn My three year old son drinks a lot, uses the restroom quite frequently, and says he's really tired a lot here recently. What is a normal blood sugar for someone his age? And could he possibly have diabetes? He has a family history of both type 1 & 2 diabetes on both sides. He isn't losing any weight and plays as normal.
Avatar f tn ADA also recommends HBA1C of 7 as acceptable for persons with diabetes, which is nearly double of non-diabetics, who will have a HBA1C in the range of 4.3- 4.6. Avatar f tn As you know your diabetes condition could affect other organs in your body. If you are in any doubt see your G.P, and investigate. The kidneys primary function is to maintain the fluid balance in the body and to excrete unwanted soluble chemicals. Whilst doing this the kidney conserves other important constituents circulating in the blood stream. Healthy people do pass small amounts of protein in the urine, if an elevated level is detected this should be investigated by your G.P.

Avatar m tn s research team may decide to only study persons with infection known to be present 3 months or more. The test may in fact detect everyone infected for 6 weeks or even less. But since they have only studied those infected for 3 months or more, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires them to say a negative result may not be reliable until 3 months have passed. For the antibody tests, the last issue is the most confusing.
Avatar n tn Hi, Truely normal blood sugar in adults will be close to 83 and will not vary much at all from this point, and definitely under 100 nearly all the time. In children it may be a bit lower, but probably not lower than 70. Fasting levels 99 - 125 are considered prediabetic Fasting levels > 126 are considered diabetic. 2 hours after eating numbers should not be above 120, and numbers above 140 will be considered diabetic.

Avatar f tn Most primary care doctors are not clued in on diabetes care and treatment. This is where an Endocrinologist, a diabetes specialist, comes into play. If push comes to shove where she needs to hear from an expert get her to one.
Avatar n tn Type 1(juvenile) diabetes is most often diagnosed in childhood, but young adults and seniors can develop type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes occurs when the persons pancreas stops producing insulin, resulting in the rise of blood sugar. Because Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmunine disease (like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis), the person's own immune system destroys the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas.
