Avatar m tn Hi all! I had a heart attack and was diagnosed with diabetes almost a year ago that turned my life upside down. Since the attack and quadruple bypass surgery I've lost my house, car, and can no longer do the work I've been doing for the last 30years b/c of the physical requirements. I've applied for and been denied Disability and don't know where to turn. My challenge now is being able to the afford my medicine needed every month of about $150.
Avatar f tn Without having read the info suggested above, I have a couple of suggestions: (1) If you are taking medications for other conditions, such as high blood pressure and/or cholesterol, research the side effects in those medications for the possibility that they are causing the high sugar numbers. Discuss changing the meds with your doctor to see if the sugar numbers decrease. (2) Before going on insulin in any form, register with a diabetes education program.

But Romney has offered few details about what exactly he would cut to achieve his goal.
Avatar n tn Dear Soraya, You can help your aunt by finding out if they qualify for any public assistance programs. Public assistance programs typically work through some sort of income qualification. In other words your income has to be below a certain level in order for you to qualify. The income level varies by state & it is not clear as to where (in what state) your aunt lives.
Avatar f tn If this is not the case with your daughter, seek another practicioner or a diabetes center that has a complete program of education and assistance.

Avatar f tn For whatever reasons, I'm now on the mailing list for Hopkins' sessions on MS education. There are 4 programs scheduled, mid-August to end of October, and they sound great. One, about CCSVI, is called "On the Internet: Treatments for MS--Hype or Hope?" This one will also deal with LDN, Vitamin D and diet. I'll do my best to attend all four programs, and report back to the forum. Luckily for me, they're being held at a hotel only 15 minutes from me.

You're still very young and you still have your future ahead of you. You've been very strong so far, you're almost finish with high school so don't give up.

1140218 tn?1316141276 It sounds like your mother in law needs a lot more education and guidance in treating her diabetes. This is what is called basal insulin which provides the background insulin 24 hours that people without diabetes have produced by their pancreas.
Avatar f tn Hello, can you contact the supplier of your pump and insulin? Sometimes they have programs for people who are struggling. Walmart also sells generic insulins for lower pricing, which may be an option. Hope you are able to work something out.
Avatar n tn Moving probably not an option for you. Florida has some really good voucher programs for special education (I think anyone with a diagnosis of certain things including autism and as long as they've been in the school system for a year with their IEP). Teacher unions hate the school choice and school voucher movement. If you can't afford private school, can you afford to stay home and homeschool?
Avatar m tn Part of the problems we are having in this country, I believe, stems from the formal education we have, or don't have. Basically the public education system we have has not changed over the last century, so what changes would you make if you could and if added cost is involved how would you pay for it.
