Common Questions and Answers about Dha supplement pills

dha

Avatar f tn It will provide you and your developing baby with the essential nitrients. Personally I use garden of life prenatals. You need to take a DHA supplement as well for your babies brain and nervous system development. One good option is Nordic naturals prenatal DHA.
Avatar f tn I like nature made with DHA but I don't think the brand is very important I just bought Safeway brand with DHA it has 2 pills system and it was way more affordable.
Avatar f tn I take a food based vitamin. You can take them on empty stomach and they have never made me sick. They are a little spend but I find its worth it for my baby.
907968 tn?1292622204 It was discovered that many pills are actually a waste of time. Look on the bottle of your pills to see how much EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) they contain in each capsule. These oils are good for the heart and brain, and you need 500mg daily for a healthy heart and 1000mg for the brain. Some pills are 1000mg, but only contain 240mg of the essential oils per pill. So, you really need to take 4 of them a day.
Avatar f tn DHA is Chain Amino Fatty Acids - Healthy Oil/Fat that support brain growth and function. AKA Omega 3 and Omega 6. Avatar f tn i don't remember my research on this fully, but i do recall that plant derived ALA's are not biologically equivalent to marine derived DHA. i take fish oil supplementation for DHA. the only concern there is impurities like mercury present in the fish oil - there are brands that make DHA capsules that have been purified for this purpose. some brands will even go as far to source their oils from the purest fish and highest standards, so that purification isn't even necessary.
Avatar n tn I forgot to take my prenatal vitamins last night and I had my first day free of nausea. The minute I took the pills this evening I went back to my nausea and morning sickness. Anyone have recommendations for super sensitive mamas? The brand I'm taking is Rainbow Light Prenatal One.
Avatar n tn I am on a presciption prenatal, presciption folic acid supplement, was told to take 4 1000mg pills of fish oil daily. Fish oil is high in EPA and DHA... both aid in brain and neurological development. But, if you do take fish oil... is MUST be Norwegian salmon oil and have a statement on the label that says it has been regularly tested using AOAC protocols. Not all fish oil is good...
1123156 tn?1338863369 Lipil ....DHA supplement for pregnant women.........anyone else take these? I just want to make sure im on the right track. I'm going to see the obgyn tomorrow..........cannot wait!!!!
Avatar f tn So I Bought prenatal pills and they don't have dha. So when I had my 1st Dr appt at 5 weeks he said buy dha prenatal so I have been taking them. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and a few days ago I ran out so I been taking the prenatal pills without dha until I get paid. But I'm wondering is it even a big deal which pills i take since I'm out of 1st trimester?
Avatar f tn If I take the one with no DHA is it ok to takr Advocare Omega Plex supplement on the side? Or should I take the vitamin with DHA and take iron on the side? These have me confused!
Avatar f tn I was told if I take them I also have to supplement iron &' a little more dha as well as calcium, but I do prefer them to pills because I can't take pills too well
Avatar f tn Yeah you need to take them now, women take thembefore they fall pregnant if ttc, but if unplanned you should take them as soon as you find out
Avatar f tn ve been taking folic acid, vit D and iron separately on my own but was given a supplement that had the 3 in one... I was wondering whether the prenatal wasn't meant to contain more vitamins and minerals? What are you guys taking at the moment?
7585726 tn?1397871765 If am taking prenatal pills do I still need to take iron & folic acid pills?

566175 tn?1278430472 I am looking for a good prenatal, with DHA and a stool softener. I am interested in hearing what all you girls take and any feedback. Thanks!

10533493 tn?1411088519 I can't take prenatal pills because I gag , and I don't know what to take ?
Avatar f tn Plenty of folic acid, iron, some calcium though I take a supplement just in case, a good dose of DHA which is good for brain development. Pills are a little big, so if you have a lot of morning sickness might not work for you, but mine was pretty mild so I do okay getting them down with a lot of water.
Avatar f tn Hello and thanks for this service! Is it more beneficial to take an "omega 3 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement" or an "omega 3, 6 &9 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement"? I'm a bit confused as to which would be of the optimum benefit to purchase. Thanks for your time and expertise!
1109996 tn?1267012897 Like cocacolapanda said... the prescription vitamins have higher levels of each item. My primary care doctor said that the ones over the counter work just as well, but most don't contain as much iron and folic acid. I get my prescription covered, but before that, I used the plain old women's one a day with a added 800mg of folic acid.
