dha

Avatar f tn The FDA says that it is safer to have DHA from a non fish source. I say the DHA is straight from the fish and not good to take! I would not take it or stop. I take the one Enfimil makes and it is I think $11 a month from Walmart and it is from a none fish source. I would tell your ob you wnat another one if you don't want that one!
Avatar f tn I am vegan (no animal products) & I take Prenatal One by Rainbow Light. I began taking them at 6wks & In my first trimester they made me very nauseous. I switched to taking them in the evenings & that helped a lot! I also take a supplement from wholefoods for DHA omega-3's that is completely fish free - it's from algae.
Avatar n tn You might want to look into a DHA/EPA supplement. Dr Fuhrman says most women that suffer from this related to pregnancy is due to low levels of DHA /EPA. Baby takes what they need and sometimes you are left depleted. A good one is Nordic Naturals marine algae EPA /DHA it is non gmo, and mercury free.hope this helps you!
1281900 tn?1320336402 Vegetarian sources of DHA come from seaweed. DHA is essential for the proper functioning of our brains as adults, and for the development of our nervous system and visual abilities during the first 6 months of life. In addition, omega-3 fatty acids are part of a healthy diet that helps lower risk of heart disease. Our bodies naturally produce small amounts of DHA, but we must get the amounts we need from our diet or supplements.
Avatar f tn i don't remember my research on this fully, but i do recall that plant derived ALA's are not biologically equivalent to marine derived DHA. i take fish oil supplementation for DHA. the only concern there is impurities like mercury present in the fish oil - there are brands that make DHA capsules that have been purified for this purpose. some brands will even go as far to source their oils from the purest fish and highest standards, so that purification isn't even necessary.
Avatar f tn Many things can give you brain fog. I had 2 bouts of brain fogs that lasted about 1-2 months each along with balance issues. Check your b12 levels. Otherwise you can supplement on b12 without checking as its not known to have any side effects, the chewable version. You can also take vitamin D3 and algae based DHA, that's also what i took and worked for me.
Avatar f tn The mother then suffers the ill effects of having low levels. I supplement with Nordic Naturals Algae Omega. It is non GMO, mercury free, and gives you no unpleasant fish burps. I started supplementing with this as soon as I found out I was pregnant as a preventative, so both baby and myself have as much as we need. I hope this helps! I hope you enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!
668044 tn?1225913014 I take One A Day Prenatal with DHA/EPA. The box (for $13) comes with one bottle of 30 prenatals and a bottle of 30 DHA/EPA pills. I have been taking them together through my pregnancy. My OB recommended them if the ones she prescribed didn't work out (they gave me a stomach ache so I went with One A Day). I have heard nothing but good things! I recommend them!

Avatar f tn Dr. Fuhrman says this is more common in women when their EPA and DHA levels are lower, and if you didn't supplement these during pregnancy your levels could be low, baby takes what they need for brain development. I supplement with Nordic Naturals Algae Omega,it's mercury free. You can check out his website online. Hope it helps. Take care, God loves you and cares for you!
1276890 tn?1271027818 s Oil with DHA is a completely vegan source (made with red algae) and it tastes great, not fishy! My kids and I take it in our smoothie and my husband just takes it on a spoon. It is awesome stuff. Other than that, off the top I would say avacados and nuts have good oils.

Despite existing research supporting Spirulina's health and healing properties, detractors claim that these are frequently overstated by Spirulina advocates. Conversely, Spirulina advocates have accused health food detractors of dismissing all such claims without acknowledging this research.
Avatar f tn How many iu is ur supplement? My Dr recommended 1000iu but I've been reading that I should be taking more. I'm also starting to think that my son is also Vitamin D deficient and perhaps I should give him Vitamin D supplement as well, but I'm going to request a blood test from his pediatrician first, but I'm almost positive that he is since I am. I'm a little worried about the long term effects of being vitamin D deficient.
Avatar f tn I was having the same problem.
