Dha in indoor tanning lotion

Common Questions and Answers about Dha in indoor tanning lotion

dha

412873 tn?1329174455 The FDA previously approved the use of DHA as an ingredient in tanning products but strictly for topical application only. Spray tanning directly exposes you to DHA because you can inhale it and it will be applied to your face, near the eyes, nose and lip area. The dangers of DHA ingestion are largely unknown.
Avatar f tn I have started Indoor Tanning for pain control for severe fibromyalgia and let me tell you all IT WORKS!!! I am on tons of meds, exercise etc. etc. but still have severe pain. The effects of the deep over all heat from the tanning lights last throughout most of day. It is wonderful. I know people say tanning is bad...but when you suffer every day w/ no relief the benefits outweigh the risks. I do 3x a week for 10-20 minutes. I am 58 years old.
Avatar n tn Hi, I started indoor tanning about 3 months ago and I've had wonderful results so far. My psoriasis and eczema have cleared up, I have more energy, and my skin feels better than ever. My wounds and cuts heal much faster than before. Before tanning, I'd tried all the creams and lotions, went to several dermatologists, and it didn't help. Recently I read about the risks involved, like melanoma and other cancer.
Avatar n tn Sunless tanning arose in response to links between sun exposure and skin cancer discovered in the 1960s, along with other alternatives to natural sun tanning such as the use of a sunbed or tanning bed. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective products available are sunless tanning or self tanning lotions that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient.
Avatar f tn I was using an indoor tanning salon for 10 days but stopped right before I was 4so weeks because I thought I might be pregnant. I have been taking prenatals for almost 4 months. I am wondering if the tanning could have a negative impact on the pregnancy?
467126 tn?1283144858 There is no safety data on sunless tanning in pregnancy and I tell my patients to avoid chemical tanning at the very least in the first trimester, when the majority of fetal organ formation occurs. But don't forget that fetal neurologic and brain development continues throughout pregnancy (and beyond)!
Avatar n tn We have had a very big campaign in Australia to try to ban indoor tanning. A girl died from a melanoma caused by indoor tanning. Many of the salons have closed do to not knowing the ramifications of it. If you go to a salon make sure they know the rules and regulations on how long etc you should be doing it. Quite honestly it is a dangerous thing as the UV rays are up to 100% stronger than the outdoor sun. So do take care!!! This is regardless of any thyroid or other problem!
Avatar f tn Does anyone else use it?? Everywhere I've read says that the self tanning lotion is safe because it doesn't absorb into the blood stream only top layer of skin. But no no to spray and fake baking.
Avatar f tn how long after you give birth do you have to wait to go tanning in a tanning bed ?
176495 tn?1301280412 sorry buddy. only indoor tanning ever messed with my sight. i have had doctor's put me on those 2 things at the same time though. never heard that it was a danger. live and learn. i hope you find a simple solution. oh, one other thing made my vision worse. passing the age of 40! lol.
Avatar m tn Hello, According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective products available are sunless- or self-tanning lotions that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. Another popular form of sunless tanning is the bronzer. These powders and moisturizers, once applied, create a tan that can easily be removed with soap and water. More like make-up, these products tint or stain your skin only until they are washed off.
Avatar n tn No not safe.:/ your body temp is not suppossed to go over 100 so be careful with the tanning, dont get to hot.
Avatar n tn I think it is possible to develop allergies to things you were not previously allergic to. But it could also be the tanning lotion. You might as well check the ingredients against the ingredients in your old lotion. If possible, switch back to your old tanning lotion to rule out that as the cause of the allergic reaction.
Avatar f tn So just recently I started going tanning again & I started to see a small rash on my shoulders. Then I started seeing white spots on my stomache all over, & just recently I got more of the little bumps right below my breasts. I asked the tanning place and they said it was because of the tanning lotion I use ( bombshell & its tingly. ) they also said it was because I haven't tanned in awhile.
7122105 tn?1407103099 Any ideas on what's the best self tanning lotion to use...that actually works? I'm used to using tanning beds every summer, but since being preggers probably shouldn't do that. What have you ladies used to get a little tan during pregnancy?
1126418 tn?1326165992 From a landmark study confirming that exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light (radiation from the sun or tanning machines) is the most common cause of melanoma to the proposed tax on the use of indoor tanning beds, there are a host of reasons to give up tanning. We hope you’ll keep them in mind in the new year. For the whole article: http://www.skincancer.org/five-great-reasons-to-give-up-uv-tanning-in-2010.

376148 tn?1309899577 i have asked and researched in tanning is bad while breastfeeding and it isnt...but what about lotion!! Will it go into my breastmilk and wil it harm my baby??
Avatar f tn I just use regular lotion on dry areas elbows/knees/ankles and my hands first, then apply the lotion. It smells very summery, like really good tanning lotion.
2102940 tn?1333643102 I've been tanning for prom and after tanning in a bronzing bed several hours later I started hurting on my side. I looked at my side and notice a red rash or burn spot the size of a baseball. It was painful not itchy but hurt. I took some IB for pain and put some cream on the area for the inflammation and went to bed. Got up this morning and the pain has stopped and the spot is all red. Doesn't itch or hurt it's just on my skin and ugly.
Avatar f tn Is it safe to lay in the sun as long as you stay hydrated? Also, is using tanning lotion while you're outside safe? I am currently 32w1d.
Avatar f tn Experts say much safer than tanning in a tanning booth anyway. I use St. Tropez when I need a little color. It's the best non orange tanning mousse I have found.
Avatar f tn It could just be a hormonal thing that changes in every woman from time to time...
