Common Questions and Answers about High dha tanning lotion

dha

412873 tn?1329174455 Sunless tanning products may contain anywhere between 1 to 15 percent DHA; the higher the DHA level, the darker the tan produced. Manufacturers of sunless tan products claim that DHA is a simple carbohydrate sugar solution but a toxicologist who investigated the harmful effects of tanning beds disagrees. Even the FDA has not approved the use of DHA in spray tan booths. The FDA previously approved the use of DHA as an ingredient in tanning products but strictly for topical application only.
Avatar m tn Hello, According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective products available are sunless- or self-tanning lotions that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. Another popular form of sunless tanning is the bronzer. These powders and moisturizers, once applied, create a tan that can easily be removed with soap and water. More like make-up, these products tint or stain your skin only until they are washed off.
467126 tn?1283144858 Pregnancy and tanning is always a touchy subject. Some salon owners don’t allow it, while others think it’s completely fine—in fact, many female salon owners say they tanned throughout their own pregnancies. What I hadn’t heard before was a question regarding the safety of sunless tanning while pregnant.
415867 tn?1323365503 However, if you use a fake tan spray or a spray-tanning booth, then you may inhale some of the DHA or erythrulose. We don’t know how it will affect you or your baby if you inhale the chemicals. To be on the safe side during pregnancy, try to stick with fake tans that you can apply by rubbing, not spraying. If you do want to use a spray, make sure the room is well aired. Also protect your eyes and lips with barrier cream or petroleum jelly.
Avatar f tn Does anyone else use it?? Everywhere I've read says that the self tanning lotion is safe because it doesn't absorb into the blood stream only top layer of skin. But no no to spray and fake baking.
Avatar n tn No not safe.:/ your body temp is not suppossed to go over 100 so be careful with the tanning, dont get to hot.
Avatar n tn I think it is possible to develop allergies to things you were not previously allergic to. But it could also be the tanning lotion. You might as well check the ingredients against the ingredients in your old lotion. If possible, switch back to your old tanning lotion to rule out that as the cause of the allergic reaction.
Avatar f tn I talked to one of my friends that used to work at a tanning bed and uses the same tanning lotion as me. The same thing happened to her & said it was some kind of fungis, there was a type of lotion that you can buy to help get rid of this. I never bought the lotion but the bumps stopped coming after tanning but I still get the white spots.
7122105 tn?1407103099 Any ideas on what's the best self tanning lotion to use...that actually works? I'm used to using tanning beds every summer, but since being preggers probably shouldn't do that. What have you ladies used to get a little tan during pregnancy?
1730786 tn?1310092814 Hi all, So I have tanned before and I have fairly sensitive skin with lots of freckles, but usually after I continue tanning in the bed and slowly building up my time, my skin gets use to the UV rays. It takes time but I can usually get there. Until now.. It all started a few months ago when I was trying to build up a base tan before summer and after about a week or so of tanning I noticed that I was getting this rash looking thing on my chest.
Avatar f tn Just use a tanning lotion out of a bottle. Spray tans are dangerous because Drs don't know what inhaling the tanning solution will do to baby and tanning beds are extremely dangerous in pregnancy.
1025521 tn?1252507728 I recentley startes tanning in a tanning bed, approxamately a couple weeks after I started a rash started below my knees and down my shins. I tanned last summer as well and the same thing but not as bad. The rash begins as little red spots, but this time it has got a little worse. They are irregular shaped red spots or welts/ blemishes, slightly poofy and raised but not extremely.
Avatar f tn t looked on the internet yet but If you could find it It will help. There was a tanning lotion that was actually for sun spots. It covered them well, Another thing was getting a mystic tan, ( a spray on tan) It may be fake but that covered some of mine. I am however going to look for that lotion again.
Avatar f tn I just use regular lotion on dry areas elbows/knees/ankles and my hands first, then apply the lotion. It smells very summery, like really good tanning lotion.
Avatar f tn Tanning salons are a no no , tanning beds are harmful to the baby.
376148 tn?1309899577 i have asked and researched in tanning is bad while breastfeeding and it isnt...but what about lotion!! Will it go into my breastmilk and wil it harm my baby??
Avatar f tn Is it safe to lay in the sun as long as you stay hydrated? Also, is using tanning lotion while you're outside safe? I am currently 32w1d.
Avatar f tn Does anyone use bronzer or gradual tanning lotion? Im so pale and i think a splash of color will make me look a little more healthy. Are these safe to use?
Avatar f tn Its perfectly safe but I'd definitely wash my boobs off before breastfeeding if ur using tanning lotion.
Avatar f tn My doctor specifically said not to tan because it raises your internal body temperature but ive heard some ladies are told its fine. Sunless tanning lotion is fine and spray tanning is fine but they usually recommend like a nose plug for spray tanning since you're breathing in the tan!
Avatar f tn I laid out in the sun with my first daughter. With tingle tanning lotion and everything. And let me say i was pregnant through the whole summer. As long as you dont stay out in the sun like for long period of time causing your baby to get really hot inside. I think youll be fine.
Avatar f tn What is the lowest SAFEST SPF level in tanning lotion for pregnant women?
Avatar f tn Thx.ladies.
11970398 tn?1443134602 I am in New York too and the first time last week I was out in the sun I got a rash on my chest!!!! I usually tan so I was freaked out... Gold bond powder worked to make it go away just don't forget spf next time!
Avatar n tn I mean regular lotion, not the tanning lotion.
Avatar f tn I thought about it and read an article that said it could be harmful for the baby. Being tan isn't worth the risk just in case the article is corrected.
