Avatar f tn I'm 11 weeks pregnant with my 1st child. Just had my first prenatal visit over a week ago. Doc said he wanted me start omega pills & handed me a flyer with different brand name options. The one that stood out was Nordic Naturals. I went to their website, click the pregnancy tab & reviewed the options for pregnancy which were Cod liver oil & Prenatal DHA. My best friend who already has a child told me the cod liver oil was the best so I decided to buy it.

611184 tn?1222039645 ~ 25-30 years ago, I read an article that recommended taking the Omega-3 fish oils first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and avoid any other consumptions for 30 minutes...this suggestion was based on the fact that this kept the O3 from going through the digestive system process; and straight to the areas of the body that benefitted from the supplement. I take a tablespoon each morning and so far it's working..
1095404 tn?1333992839 i just went to an acupuncturist for fertility and she recommended fish oil - in particular cod liver oil. She said it is good for producing healthy follicles as well. I just added that to the other vitamins i'm taking. crossing my fingers!
Avatar m tn Your condition can be treated with a combination SSRIs (prescription medications that block reuptake of serotonin), anesthetic ointments (not very recommended as they can alter sexual sensation in your partner, and natural supplements of cod liver oil or fish liver oil capsules that contain DHA and mediate an increase in the levels of serotonin in the brain.
Avatar n tn Country Life or Carlson Labs offer vitamin A from CLO. Try 10,000 IU of A and start with 1 teaspoon of cod liver oil, the EPA and DHA will also help. Carlson Labs has CLO with 400 and 500 mg of EPA and DHA per teaspoon. Consider working up to 1 teaspoon CLO 2 times per day. With the A from CLO and the actual CLO, you should notice immediate improvement in the tics as well as reduced hyperactivity/ anxiety. The most important food to avoid is gluten (barley, wheat and rye.
Avatar f tn Cod liver oil isn't the same as fish oil. Whole other ball of wax. Fish oil doesn't need to be refrigerated if it's in gel caps, but in liquid it should be, though not until it's opened. Flax oil should be kept refrigerated, but if it's in gel caps it doesn't need to be refrigerated until the bottle is opened. If it's just liquid, then it needs to be refrigerated all the way down the line, from manufacturer to retailer and in your home.
Avatar f tn I take a liquid calcium and cod liver oil. Just make sure you.don't overdo the vit A it can cause birth defects. All 3 I take have vit A in them but still safe I think it's 10,000iu for the upper limit.
Avatar f tn Some people recommend a dose of between 1000mg of EPA with 500mg of DHA in Omega 3 and a dose of 1000mg of Cod liver oil. Vitamin C between 500mg and 1000mg. This should not only improve the depression but also help with the joints. However always consult with your doctor if you are currently taking medication or ask for advice with a local health store on recommended doses and drug interactions( if any).
Avatar f tn Hi there......what are your views regarding giving Cod liver oil to help treat ADD symptoms. I have read that Cod liver oil can have serious side effects.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info. I am now taking children's chewable and one folic acid a day. As I'm afraid to even take fish oil or eat cod. But love tunafish and can eat it! And not to mention I'm only 6 weeks. Thanks Mama's!
Avatar f tn No, cod liver oil should be avoided. You can get fish oil (that's not from liver) which is great for you and baby.
Avatar n tn Standard cod liver oil is *extremely* high in vitamin A, and there is some chance that taking excess vitamin A--over a teaspoon per day--will increase the effectiveness of coumadin, putting patients at even greater risk for bleeding. Same goes for the Omega-3s in cod liver oil. You can read about it here (or wikipedia, etc): http://www.livestrong.
Avatar f tn Cod liver oil contains vitamin D! Are you then taking to much D? Cod liver is more likely to contain contaminants. Cod liver oil contains vitamin A and D they are fat soluble that being said they can cause toxicity in excessive amounts. Primrose oil contains omega 6 and if you google foods containing omega 6 then I will guess you are consuming way to much omega 6 to omega 3. You didn't state what your diet consists of. Your multi. might contain all the vitamins that you stated.
Avatar m tn Is it related to Cod Liver oil pills? By reading the contents of both supplements there are two things in common one is Vitamin A and other is Vitamin D. I was surprised to know that the Multi Vitamin contained 5000 iu of vitamin A and 400 iu of vitamin D .. that is exactly double to the amount found in Cod Liver Oil. Could it be Vitamin A or D? Confused?
535822 tn?1443976780 For regular use, fish oil is much safer and higher in DHA and EPA than cod liver oil, which is more appropriate for stomach problems or skin problems or dry eyes, things that you usually would only use it as long as needed.
Avatar f tn Thoughts on cod liver oil to induce labor?

1772456 tn?1314123096 we did but both are not suitable for a damaged liver, cod liver oil has toxic metals in it and too much vit A, both are higly toxic for the liver because it has more vit a and metals than dha,epa (omega3) and vit d one of the first options i investigated for vit d and the worst choice for liver diases coconut oil, this may be partially useful to damage hbsag but i have no idea if it can reach measurable levels of action on hbsag (hbsag is mainly made of cholesterol).
Avatar n tn d stay stick with your allergist, get all of your shots diligently, and use the cod liver oil tablets in conjunction for your food allergies. It might not work for everyone's food allergies, but it did for mine.
Avatar m tn it is ok to take cod liver oil, we always thought vit a in cod liver oil could be toxic but this is another lie from drug makers, researchers reported on a vit k2 video we just posted that it is only synthetic vit A to be toxic and not the natural one in any case keep monitoring both d3 serum levels, calcium and ast-alt, we have no way to tell if cod liver oil d3 or d3 supplements is best...
Avatar m tn A great trick to ease the syringing process is to put several drops of plain cooking oil or baby oil (who knows, maybe cod-liver oil would work too!?) in your ear in the evening, then lie on your side for about 20 minutes, then do the other ear. During this time I will shift my head slightly now and then until I feel the oil trickling and tickling deep into my ear (though I don't always feel it). Put cotton in your ears to hold the oil in.
