Avatar f tn I had to stop while pregnant bc I was getting so nauseous I could barely handle my prenatals let alone adding in my fish oil and vit D. If they are making you sick maybe up your fish consumption. I never took fish oil with any of my three pregnancies but I eat wild salmon at least once a week and either tilapia or cod once a week. May times I eat salmon more than once but buying wild fish gets expensive so we dont as much as we would like.
Avatar f tn Flax oil isn't equivalent to fish oil. While both contain omega 3 oils, the oils they contain are quite different. The reason your shrink recommended fish oil is it's high quantity of EPA and DHA. DHA in particular is essential for proper brain function. Some people do feel lessened depression with a high dose of fish oil daily. I don't know about anxiety. Make sure you buy one from a good company that uses clean fish; I prefer Nordic Naturals.
Avatar m tn Rainbow light complete prenatal & Nordic Naturals Prenatal dha!
Avatar m tn You might also not be eating enough sources of HDL, but you can just increase your fish oil or krill oil or hemp seed oil or flax seed oil -- there are other sources of omega 3 oils, though only fish that eat seaweed have a good level of DHA.
Avatar f tn and a little upset stomach. Is this possible from fish oil??? I take the fish oil with food .. and the bowel reaction is later/delayed.. but this is not normal for me. I am taking about 1 1/2 tsp daily. I am going to stop for a few days, and cut back to 1 tsp daily and see if it helps. Anyone else have this reaction... or am I a wierdo.. ( dumb question.. I am a wierdo).?? Thanks again for any input.
1355431 tn?1369975306 ve ever been in has Source Naturals fish oil on the shelf, but they always have Nordic Naturals and Carlson, plus some cheaper oils and now New Chapter, which is even more expensive but has low dosages because they use a very expensive lower heat process. It's all good.
1225070 tn?1344709174 DHA comes from a source that is known as being pretty clean and doesn't give you the anti-coagulant problems (thining of the blood) that sometimes you run into with fish oil, so I think DHA omega 3s are okay to take with a baby aspirin unlike regular fish oils. You can find is at any drug store next to the over the counter prenatal vitamins. I actually ordered mine from drugstore.com. Plus DHA is great for the baby once you are pregnant!!
Avatar f tn Cod liver oil isn't the best fish oil for inflammation or for omega 3 oils. It comes in gel caps, which you don't taste at all. Nordic Naturals is a very good brand for omega 3 rich fish oil.
518994 tn?1212242047 Another problem - - most fish oil supplement manufacturers do NOT reveal the concentrations of EPA and DHA in their products, and these are the omega-3's we actually need to know for appropriate dosing. We work with a company called Nordic Naturals, and I use their pet-specific liquid omega-3 product. We refer to dosing guidelines that have come from oncology, and we dose to the DHA at 30 mg/kg/day. ********************************* Here is that reference: nordicnaturals.
Avatar f tn The doctor was amazed with his muscle tone. I credit these results to taking these prenatals as well as Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA.
377493 tn?1356502149 Hey Amanda, yes fish oil supplements are proven very beneficial to both pregnant and breastfeeding women. I just started taking fish oil pills, studies show that they are most effective in the last 3 months of pregnancy for your baby's brain, vision and coordination, and up to 2yrs after that. It also helps prevent preterm labor and high blood pressure in expecting Moms, among other things.
Avatar m tn com/industry-home by this website it is possible to monitor contamination of fish oil products, while fish oil supplements are probably less contaminated and safer than plain fresh fish, not all brands are the same i post this especially about my suggestion about puritans and solgar on past posts, which are not listed here and you can only think bad about them if they dont list there it is not lead contamination but Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) the main problem of many brands http://www.
Avatar m tn Nordic Naturals is the best I know, but still, there's no body of water in the world free of mercury. It's everywhere.
Avatar n tn I answered on your other post, but do want to say none of the brands you're taking are the best quality. You want fish oil sourced from clean fish. Buying bargain brands can be problematic with supplements.
Avatar m tn Something to think about. Nordic Naturals makes a fine fish oil not made of krill, with a dedicated fishery in clean waters off Scandanavia. New Chapter makes the purest fish oil because they don't purify it, meaning you get more than just the omega 3 oils, but that means you get less of the omega 3 oils and have to take more of them, and they are expensive.
374933 tn?1291081784 I have graves and thyroid eye diease and flaxseed oil works better for me than fish oil. I take it everyday and it seems to help, also staying hydrated is really important. And if I am good not drinking helps...but sometimes you just need the wine.
Avatar f tn I work at a health food store and New Chapter is by far the best brand of vitamin you can buy its made from all whole foods so you can take on an empty stomache and it has probiotics in it which are great for any stomache ir digestive issues you might experience through out your pregnancy.
Avatar f tn The mother then suffers the ill effects of having low levels. I supplement with Nordic Naturals Algae Omega. It is non GMO, mercury free, and gives you no unpleasant fish burps. I started supplementing with this as soon as I found out I was pregnant as a preventative, so both baby and myself have as much as we need. I hope this helps! I hope you enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!
Avatar f tn You need to take a DHA supplement as well for your babies brain and nervous system development. One good option is Nordic naturals prenatal DHA.
Avatar f tn ve got is great for overall essential fatty acids, especially for women with hormone problems, but for cholesterol the Omega 3 oils are the best. These are found in fish oil, hemp oil, and flax oil primarily. The garlic and parsley is probably more of a waste of money, but it certainly won't harm you. Garlic works best combined with other nutrients, so a cholesterol lowering formula would be better than garlic by itself. Exercise and dietary changes are also necessary.

Avatar m tn Yes! Try to find some high strength fish oil with D3. Nordic Naturals has a good combo, also some magnesium. It's helped me immensely with mood and energy levels.
Avatar m tn You need to be careful about the company that produces the fish oil pill regarding their source of fish. This is due to polution in many ocean sources and also due to including fish that might be a source of mercury contamination. Regarding the dosage, Nordic Naturals have some formulas for kids. I belive that you want the combination formula with Omega 3-6-9, but I am not an expert.
Avatar m tn 000iu of d3 daily, resveratrol liposomes from maxhealthlabs and fish oil with dha+epa 2,5-3g (very few brands have this content).fish oil with no pollutants pcb are few nordic naturals is one of them study what i did and copy it as religiously as you can http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn The first time I tried fish oil it gave me terrible fish burps. Ick! Last year I tried Nature Made which has the USP seal. No fish burps but no help with the arrhythmias either. Unfortunately (I say this because I don't like taking pills anyway), my cardio put me on Diltiazem a month ago because of some chest pain and upcoming surgery (I sailed through that). It's been most helpful but I still grimace and rebel each morning when I take it. LOL Dr. Oz is a character, isn't he?
Avatar n tn If it were me, I would probably avoid the Salmon oil and use a different kind of fish oil. Carlson had a great one and I can tolerate it well, I have all kinds of allergies, but, this is good for me to take.
