Avatar f tn The vitamins are for your health. The baby will take what it need from you weather you have enough for yourself or not. The vitamins are to ensure that you are getting enough.
Avatar f tn DHA is very recomended by doctors. I bought dha vitamins for pregnant women separately from my regular vitamins.
Avatar f tn The ada recommended dose for pregnant women is 600mg. There is no need to try to aim for the highest as long as you are meeting that threshold. It is a water soluable vitamin amd you will only pee out any excess anyway.

773801 tn?1244520679 The doctor will tell you to take prenatal vitamins and DHA which is Omega 3 which promotes healthy brain development and eyes and nervous system. What they fail to tell you that if you are taking these daily that you need to stop taking them at the end of your pregnancy because it prevents you from going into labor. Omega 3 are used to help prevent preterm labor, PMS menstral cramps in non pregnant women and relieve joint and prevent inflammation.
Avatar f tn Yeah you need to take them now, women take thembefore they fall pregnant if ttc, but if unplanned you should take them as soon as you find out
Avatar f tn DHA is a kind of Omega 3 fatty acid (which is usually DHA+EPA) Omega 3 s are considered really beneficial for our brain and general health..and considered really good for fertility.. they're found in fatty fish or you can take them as supplements..
Avatar f tn They're all good. Ask the pharmacist which they recommend. I take the cheaper brand, and it's just as good as the more expensive one. Some women find the prenatal pills make them feel sick, so you might have to experiment with which ones work best for you. In addition to my prenatals, I take Omega3 too, because I'm not eating all that much fish right now.
961574 tn?1520648103 Most prenatal vitamins will have the exact same amount of all the vitamins that a pregnant women needs. The vitamin needs to have 800mg of folic acid. I choose over the counter because I’ve been ttcing for some time and it all gets expensive from vitamins, opk tests, and hpt tests. Just make sure you are getting the correct vitamins that the dr. orders.
657586 tn?1224587947 s with at least 450mg of DHA, the form responsible for brain, nervous system, and eye development. DHA is ESSENTIAL for these things. As long as you are taking High quality fish oil which is low in mercury or eating fish that are low in mercury then all is fine! Eat away for the health and development of your baby!
Avatar f tn m taking the prescription vitafol-ob+dha which is $55 and I was taking bellybar before and during the earlier part of pregnancy which has almost 2x the amount of vitamins but no dha for $13 is it safe to switch back? Is there something else that I am overlooking?
Avatar f tn Yes. Start now. They even tell women trying to conceive to start... seeing that you're already pregnant.. start now!!!!
1281900 tn?1320336402 Vegetarian sources of DHA come from seaweed. DHA is essential for the proper functioning of our brains as adults, and for the development of our nervous system and visual abilities during the first 6 months of life. In addition, omega-3 fatty acids are part of a healthy diet that helps lower risk of heart disease. Our bodies naturally produce small amounts of DHA, but we must get the amounts we need from our diet or supplements.
Avatar m tn no it is not harmful it is a must, but the quality and concentration of epa and dha must be very high at 2-3g daily (fish oil quantity is not useful check epa/dha), most products are scam with very low dha/epa so useless.
984847 tn?1253732146 Baby aspirin can actually help with implantation for some women and also prevent possible blood clots to the placenta later on. I was also told to start taking baby aspirin after my first miscarriage by my RE...just as a precaution. I was also taking fish oil. And yes, you can start taking them on a daily basis now. I'm now 19 weeks pregnant and I'm still taking baby aspirin (although, I'm no longer taking fish oil, as my prenatal has DHA). Best of luck to you!
566175 tn?1278430472 I am looking for a good prenatal, with DHA and a stool softener. I am interested in hearing what all you girls take and any feedback. Thanks!
1192727 tn?1282735542 It is found in cold water fatty fish and fish oil supplements, along with eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Vegetarian sources of DHA come from seaweed. DHA is essential for the proper functioning of our brains as adults, and for the development of our nervous system and visual abilities during the first 6 months of life. Avatar f tn Neevo DHA has the metholated folate in it that is good for women who have MTHFR gene mutations and it had the DHA in it too. It is by prescription only and is easy on your tummy.
7062279 tn?1388370086 DHA is in fish oil, and it's for baby's brain development. Some women don't like fish, or won't eat it because they're afraid of the mercury content, but the DHA in capsure form is mercury free, and has a lot of really good benefits for you and baby (if you weren't getting DHA from the pills, or from eating lots of fish, baby would just take the DHA in your body and use that, but you use it too, so you'd be in short supply).
668044 tn?1225913014 I have been taking the Enfamil DHA supplements for pregnant and nursing mothers. I think it is a good idea to take them if you aren't sure you are getting enough omega- 3 in your diet.
Avatar f tn If you would prefer to err on the side of caution, you can always look for supplements that are made specifically for pregnant women.
776572 tn?1360290739 Hey There, Wondering if people have a good recommendation for a high quality, natural prenatal? I was taking Trimedesyn, which looked good to me as it had a lot of extras that most prenatals are lacking (like dhas, probiotics (although i wonder if they are still active considering the product is not refrigerated) and more, and yet my doc said the vitamin a was a bit high at 5,000 ius. I've since switched to SISU's prenatal but wonder if you ladies might have a good recommendation?
415867 tn?1323365503 I just did some reading online. They say NOT to do it during the first trimester but after that it's better than going tanning in the sun or in a tanning bed. They say on the American Pregnancy Org. Website that it is the safer option for pregnant women. So I would probably cancel the appt for this month and wait until you're out of your first trimester to test it. They say it is because they all contain DHA, whether it be spray on or the creams or foams they sell in the stores.
