Avatar m tn He performed surgery on my nose with a laser to clear the blockage caused by the deviated septum. After I healed from the surgery, I could breathe slightly better, but I still suffered from blockage caused by swollen turbinates. I went back to the doctor and he basically told me that he had done everything he could and that I shouldn't have used so much cocaine.
Avatar m tn I finally saw an ENT and he saw I have a deviated septum and enlarged turbinates and concha bellus. My ENT wants to correct the septum and reduce turbinates and remove concha belluse sinuses.. I chose to only have my turbinates reduces with local anesthetic, I think it still puts me to sleep and he's going to reduce turbinates using heated catherisation.. I'm a little nervous to have this down because I've heard of empty nose syndrome and also potential sideffects..
Avatar m tn ive been having sinus problems for months now i finally got results of my can scan and i dont know exactly what was said by heart..but i have a deviated septum, enlarged turbinates, puse is my left maxillary sinus, and i think she said an air pocket also..so im suppose to get surgery done in april..the 3 listed are septoplasty, endoscopic sinus, and turbinectomy..i have no problem with any of these except what i read about the turbinectomy when it comes to empty nose syndrome..
Avatar m tn i have a dust allergy and i know thats what caused all my problems so my question is with all these problems could these things make my allergies even worse then normal like does it make me more sensitive causing sneezing and stuff like does the deviated septum and the enlarged turbinates just make things worse i know it sounds confusing and obvious what im asking but maybe someone wil lget what im saying
Avatar n tn I had surgery to straighten a deviated septum, straighten the nose, and open it up some, but the turbinates were apparently left intact - this at age 17. Had the runny nose and congestion before. That was improved afterward and I had 5 or so good years, then the opposite problem of tooo-dry nose-sinuses started to set in and it's been beating me up for about 25 years now.
Avatar f tn I had existing obstructed breathing issues prior due to enlarged turbinates and a supposed deviated septum, in which I had a surgery done 4 years back. Fast forward now I have had a multitude of symptoms due to the anxiety but now im thinking my obstructed breathing is possibly due to a nasal problem and not so much having to do with anxiety.
Avatar m tn m actually still puzzled as to why my congestion will return even after using my Neti-pot? Is this usual with enlarged turbinates/deviated septum that the swelling would return after irrigation? Thank you for your reply!
Avatar m tn I finally visited a ENT for my allergies and he noticed I have a deviated septum and large turbinates. Is it normal to breath from one nostril at a time with the other cometly blocked or is that an indication of imflamation in the sinuses. I do get alot of nasle poping everymorning and its like good relief when they pop. I can never have both nostriles cometley open. My symptoms are dizzyness, sneezing the minute I walk outdoors and hedachs in the temples. and top part of the head.
Avatar m tn Accidentally nose middle bone deviated in right side nose and turbinates surgery and please help me for this case. This discussion is related to nose injury to child.
538090 tn?1213808112 My husband had surgery for his deviated septum along with turbine reduction. It seems he broke his nose in highschool, while playing basketball, and didn't realize it. The tissue grew too much inside his nose and started to cause him to have several sinus infections over the years. The congestion your are getting may be due to the affected tissue swelling because of your flu or bronchitis. The surgery will help clear your breathing passage and give you some relief.
Avatar m tn m sure you could imagine the awful smells there! I even had a deviated septum and enlarged turbinates and was stuffy most of the time, but I could still smell every scent as though my face was right in it. Anyway, 2 weeks ago I had surgery to repair my septum and reduce my turbinates so I could breathe through my nose again, and since then I haven't been able to smell much.

Avatar f tn Hi guys.. so my heart goes out to everyone who'se dealing with these symptoms.. because they are enough to really disable someone.. this has been going on for over 3 years now and it's just gotten severely worse this past year.. I just saw an ENT because of the constant pressure/fullness with both ears, nose is constantly clogged.. and sometimes it switches.. ENT only told me I had a deviated septum and that he didn't beleive in surgery..
Avatar f tn I had a deviated septum and reduction of turbinates 11 days ago. Yesterday I went out to run some errands, I live in California and the sun was quite hot. At night I noticed a semi round tan spot on my nose. Is this something that appeared as a result of the sun exposure to the tender skin? or will it go away soon? Please help, I am concern.
Avatar f tn Do you have allergies, a deviated septum, or enlarged turbinates? These are issues that your your doctor can address. Dr. Mehregan's comment is also right on the mark. Most people who are chronic mouth breathers have jaw structures that aggravates tongue collapse, especially when you're on your back, and especially if you're in deep sleep, due to muscle relaxation.
1560171 tn?1330122177 the spot where it hurts is the muscle that moves when i open my mouth, i have also been clenching down my jaw lately...i do have sinus problems too and i have a deviated septum and enlarged turbinates which cause my nose to feel blocked a lot.i do have tinnitus as well, wondering if it all could be related to my tmj. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn About 3 weeks ago I had Endo surgery. They repaired a deviated septum, left ethmoidectomy, bilateral reduction of all turbinates, and sphenoidotomy. My doctor said that recovery time (return to work) would be about a week. I'm now 3 days short of 3 weeks and still have huge parts of the day that I'm in pain. The worst part is the weekly debriding. It knock me down to bedridden for at least 48hours.
Avatar f tn I also have an enlarged turbinate with a deviated septum. Every time I catch a cold I get a sinus infection, I go on antibiotics take decongestats night and day with ibuprofin and it always comes back. It seems to have gotten worse this month. My entire head was throbbing with neck pain and facial swelling. I have to lay on my right side at night to be able to breath out of my left nostrile. My ENT said I need to have the deviated septum fixed with surgery and have the turbinate coterised.
Avatar f tn Septoplasty for deviated septum and coblation of the turbinates My teenage son had this as outpatient surgery two days ago. Day one was pretty rough, so keep current on those painkillers. His doctor's advice; use bags of frozen peas instead of ice packs - they mold to the face better. The cold really helps. He also told me to get an over the counter spray called "simply saline" to spray right in the nose to keep it moist.
Avatar n tn The septoplasty or rhinoplasty for deviated nasal septum (DNS) will help you to relieve your symptoms. I suggest you to consult ENT surgeon for further management. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn Problem of congested nose - I saw a doctor for my nose blocking problem. He told it as Rhinosis. Fluzep and Ibuprofen tablets were given. After few days I saw an ENT. He has done Endoscopic Rhinoscopy. He told the problem is - Hypertrophic Turbinates & Deviated Nasal Septum. He asked me to stop other medicine and gave me Aerius Tablet and Avamys Spray.
Avatar f tn No allergies (had 2 times skin tests) and sinus issues (as far as I know). My turbinates were enlarged during the nights only, during the days, when I am up, I can breathe. When I am laying down always one of my sides is clogged. So, 4 weeks after the coblation I feel pretty much the same- always one of my nostrils is stuffed during the night. When I am up, I am o.k. as before. Can someone with experience (with coblation) tell me if it is normal 4 weeks after the procedure?
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, the most common cause for sinusitis is Deviated nasal septum (DNS). This condition leads to obstruction and breathing difficulty. This can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches. Other possibilities are laryngeal web, asthma, any structural abnormalities in the nasal passage such as nasal polyps, hypertrophied turbinates etc. You need to undergo detailed examination of nose and radiography of the sinuses to rule out existing sinusitis.
Avatar n tn What is more, I went to an ENT just weeks ago in 2018, had a CT scan of the sinuses done, and the ENT tells me that the result is that I have a deviated septum, AGAIN, and will need a repeat surgery for that and to shave down the turbinates. This is ridiculous. I cannot have a septoplasty every 10 years, and furthermore, it accomplished nothing and relieved none of my symptoms the first time! I feel like these forums are pretty useless as well.
Avatar n tn I too had the septoplasty due to a deviated septum about 4 weeks ago in addition to the coblation. I'm breathing much better now, just dealing with seasonal allergies. Luckily it hasn't caused major or uncomfortable stuffiness. Vaccaro after the surgery were you able to breathe freely out of both nostrils? I feel that one side is not as clear as the other, but I believe it is b/c it was the most problematic.
