I too have DI but i take desmopressin and hydrocortizone daily. I found if I break the 20mg desmopressin into quarters I do better. The 5mg just didn't seem to work for me. I take it morning and night and other than a 10lb weight gain I have not had any side affects. If I don't take enough I feel fatigued and if I take to much my weight goes up but when the dose was decreased the bulk of the weight came off.

today the consultant gave me tablets called desmopressin acetate. i understand they reduce urine amounts. will try but cant see them working well.

Is there a medication for Diabetes Insipidus other than Desmopressin? The headaches as a side affect are dibilitating.

DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). Anyways if you have it, there is a medication called DDAVP (or desmopressin) that can help so that you are not attached to a drinking fountain and toilet all of the time. It has to be used very cautiously at first as you can risk becoming overhyfrated. I find that especially at night it really helps. Otherwise I wake up every hour to pee and drink. Thus I get very disturbed sleep.. The medication comes is a pill form, nasal spray and injection.
if because of any reason some blood or sexual liquid of her(i know it is unusual but with accepting this) entered to this deodorant spray in the past and the virus og hiv remain in it and then after she sprayed it the viruses entere to my body(for example from a small hurt in my skin) and infect me. is there any risk of hiv?
They make it in a pill form and a nasal spray. i do better on the pill. But others swear by the spray! Then you can add it to the day as well if you need to. One thing that will help your doc is to measure your input and output for a few days. Mine was over 10 liters at it's worse and I was having to get up to drink and pee every 1/2 hour at night time!!!! How is one to sleep and recover without help?
If still the symptoms persist then medical treatment with desmopressin, imipramine and anticholinergics can be tried.

5 hours before bedtime and was put on desmopressin .2mg nightly over the last year with no success. Her primary doctor added another medication and said to check back in 3 months. Her primary physician said that we should hold back on going to see a urologist. I was wondering if you can give me advise in what to do. HOW do you go about taking to your doctor and demanding a referral to a a specialist as a urologist with out being mean?

Hey everyone I'm 27 weeks and I want to get spray tanned next week for my baby shower. I know online it says not to because it soaks in your skin and the chemicals aren't safe.
