This is my first post in this community. Following an approximately 8 month (and counting) history of recurrent petechiae, my doctor finally referred me to a hematologist for further evaluation. The hematologist listened to my concerns and told me that she wanted to test me for von Willebrand disease, but she expected the testing to come back negative as I "should have other symptoms besides petechiae if it's von Willebrand's.
My doctor suspects I might have Von Willebrand and has referred me to see a hematologist and do some blood work. She said "We should test to see if you have it and if you can then have kids".
As you might understand, that was unsettling for me.
Is there a chance that VW or any other blood disorder for that matter could cause sterility or infertility?

Google von Willebrand. It's a disorder that causes the blood to not clot very quickly, so little injuries turn into bigger bruises than you expect. As I understand it, it's treatable my medication.

In april my TSH was up to 20 and my doctor decided to keep the medicin on 75 mcg, due to more testing for a possible Von Willebrand disease. There has been more then six weeks for my TSH to stabilize. During the testing for Von Willebrand (ofcourse with other things measured as well) my TSH went up from 20 to 23 and then to 15, 18 and once collapsed to 1,8. Two weeks later is was 23 again. Since january I was taking 75 mcg (and that's five months ago).
If you are concerned about your von Willebrand disease (-please correct me if I misinterpret what you are writing when you say vwb -- von Willebrand disease is usually listed as vWD, so maybe I have it wrong) - if it is von Willebrand disease you are talking about, it seems like excessive bleeding at the period is more a problem with vWD than not having a period when expected. Unless you have vWD type 3, there is not considered to be an unusual risk of bleeding in the joints, etc.
The platelet count suggests against that - unless the count is normal but the platelet function is not (ie, von-willebrand). The thyroid levels are normal for age. Would work with her pediatrician to get to the underlying cause and she may need additional labs and possibly hematology consult.
My husband has been diagnosed with von Willebrand disease. My youngest son has symptoms and labwork that suggest the same. I have never had easy bruising overall, I do have heavy menstrual bleeding but always attributed that to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

My Endo wants me to do a biopsy, but I am concerned as I have Von Willenbrands Factor VIII deficiency, and had a bleeding problem in July from a deep tooth scaling (which probably was made worse by going to a dental surgeoun after who probably dug deeper) and I ended up on Amacar for 10 days and two rounds of Desmopressin IVs. In the past, I have had a couple of needle biopsies in the breast with no problems. I will contact my hemotologist, but was also looking for another opinion.
My father had a brain tumor removed and now has to take a nasal spray called Desmopressin. His endocranologist only wants him to use it one time a day, but the problem is he goes to the bathroom sometimes every 15 minutes!!!! He is also on 1/2 mg of Dexamethasone and that's part of the problem. Sometimes he takes two puffs a day but the doctor doesn't want him to do that daily.
t mention in your question what medication you were taking. Commonly central DI is treated with desmopressin. Desmopressin works by limiting the amount of water passed in the urine.
I don't know why you would suddenly notice a decrease in your symptoms after 34 years. I would recommend making an appointment with your regular doctor to see what might be causing this. Until you can be seen, it is important that you remain aware of your fluid intake and output.
