Avatar m tn Hi all, This is my first post in this community. Following an approximately 8 month (and counting) history of recurrent petechiae, my doctor finally referred me to a hematologist for further evaluation. The hematologist listened to my concerns and told me that she wanted to test me for von Willebrand disease, but she expected the testing to come back negative as I "should have other symptoms besides petechiae if it's von Willebrand's.
Avatar f tn My doctor suspects I might have Von Willebrand and has referred me to see a hematologist and do some blood work. She said "We should test to see if you have it and if you can then have kids". As you might understand, that was unsettling for me. Is there a chance that VW or any other blood disorder for that matter could cause sterility or infertility?

You can buy multivitamin in the Natural Food stre without sugar and other chemical additives and just give it to your child after breakfast. You will se tremendous difference. The first week I gave him multivitamin he was fine and beaming with health. Hope this helps. Hugs,Sunes.
Avatar n tn s Disease by itself will not cause a decreased libido. However, Antihemophilic factor-von Willebrand factor complex, if has been used in your case to decrease the vaginal bleeding could be the cause of decreased libido. Prolonged vaginal bleed can be traumatic and weakening. This could be a cause of decreased libido. The other possibility is that you have vaginal dryness.
Avatar n tn He ordererd a few tests for me which were negative for Von Willebrand but my APTT stayed high and my TSH was stil 0,022 and that's when he orderd me to lower the medication. During all that time my menstruation stopped completely (my gynaecologist ordered some test too and says that I'm now postmenopauzal). This all happened in january 2009. My Ft4 and my T3 *they don't measure the Ft3 in the Netherlads on a regulary base* was normal with sometimes a minor going up or down.
Avatar f tn 2 time activated 33 sec and prothrombin time-INR of 1.1 and PT of 11.4. Her LYMPH was 39.6 and MID 8.5 Gran 51.9 and PLT 326 K/uL. Is there any chance that even know this bloodwork was ok, that she could have ITP or some type of platelet disorder?
Avatar m tn If you are concerned about your von Willebrand disease (-please correct me if I misinterpret what you are writing when you say vwb -- von Willebrand disease is usually listed as vWD, so maybe I have it wrong) - if it is von Willebrand disease you are talking about, it seems like excessive bleeding at the period is more a problem with vWD than not having a period when expected. Unless you have vWD type 3, there is not considered to be an unusual risk of bleeding in the joints, etc.
Avatar f tn Here is an excerpt from an article I found on easy bruising. “ People tend to bruise more easily as they age because blood vessels become weaker and the skin thins. Easy bruising may also run in families, so people whose relatives bruise easily may notice that they do as well. It can be difficult for a person to assess whether they have more bruises than usual or bruise more easily than most other people.
Avatar f tn My husband has been diagnosed with von Willebrand disease. My youngest son has symptoms and labwork that suggest the same. I have never had easy bruising overall, I do have heavy menstrual bleeding but always attributed that to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
Avatar n tn i found it he had /has von willebrand disorder.
1432434 tn?1283358025 Hi Londres70, The surgery is intended to be laproscopic, but there is a 50/50 change I will have to be cut again along my c sec and hysterectomy line AGAIN due the size of cyst and what may be seen once inside and due to the fact that I bleed out during my c sec in 03 and my hyst in 08. 1035400 tn?1351541684 I was put on Lovenox after my pulmonary embolisms. The two tests they did for the Lupus Anticoagulants were only 3 weeks apart. They have retested me a dozen or more times since then, and the tests have all been negative. It was explained to me that you have to have two positive test that have been done more than six weeks apart to meet criteria for diagnosis. Just before my mini strokes in August, I had an anticoagulant work up. I had been on Pradaxa rather than the Lovenox for the past year.
Avatar f tn My Endo wants me to do a biopsy, but I am concerned as I have Von Willenbrands Factor VIII deficiency, and had a bleeding problem in July from a deep tooth scaling (which probably was made worse by going to a dental surgeoun after who probably dug deeper) and I ended up on Amacar for 10 days and two rounds of Desmopressin IVs. In the past, I have had a couple of needle biopsies in the breast with no problems. I will contact my hemotologist, but was also looking for another opinion.
Avatar n tn On those days (when he takes two puffs) he only goes to the bathroom 4-5 times the whole day, which is great because I can take him places and get him out of the house. Does anyone know or take Desmopressin more often than one time a day??? If so how many times?? Any information would be helpful!!
Avatar m tn But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
Avatar f tn Usually what happens is when starting meds for AD, you wind up, through trial and error, going through sometimes MAny meds and dosages before you get to the one that "Works for You"..I am starting on my 4th one tomorrow. Hoping it will be the "one". I would certainly give your doc a call tomorrow as you should not have to continue tdeal w/ those symptoms. Is it a Cardio who rx'ed you this?
871965 tn?1241833146 I should think I'm a bit late answering this now but I have Von Willebrands and have two children.
Avatar f tn Second colonoscopy scheduled for last November to finally remove the polyp. Bowel prep was good, and the colon looked good (no inflammation and no nodules), however, the polyp was sessile in nature and therefore they could not remove it. We were referred to general surgery. Surgery scheduled for Feb 2010 - no bowel prep needed, they would cleanse him on the table. Two hours later the surgeon came out and told me they couldn't find the polyp - basically had a sigmoidoscopy.
398059 tn?1447945633 Find a haemophilia centre in your area and get assessed for clotting factor and activities, particularly factor VIII and Von Willebrand factor. Some versions of haemophilia can be relatively mild or even aquired. Von Willebrand Disease springs to mind. You may have had it lifelong and been unaware, or it may be a new development, rare but possible. Haemophilia covers a range of bleeding disorders and conditions and the centres are very experienced in dealing with this kind of problem.
