Avatar f tn Swedish only works on the superficial muscle and tissue. Ice after the massage, if deep tissue. You can be sore (like soreness after a workout) because toxins are being pushed out of the muscle into you body. Also drink lots of water to hydrate you muscles. Looking forward to hearing back from you.
237053 tn?1258828426 Is this true!!??/ Crazy... I know but... I had a massage (deep tissue.. that I must say HURT LIKE HELL), and literally the next day is when I noticed the cognitive problems and weakness. Maybe it is just coincidence, but very strange. I had had the slight numbness in my toes and the stiff painful neck shoulders prior, so I thought a massage would do me good. NO! The next day all everthing got worse! That weekend I ended up in the ER due to weakness, numbness, and dizziness.
Avatar f tn I had a very intensive deep tissue massage that was isolating between my shoulder blades and neck area last Friday. Saturday morning I woke up spinning with my eyes going back and forth, making me sick to my stomach and dry heaved. I ended up in the ER for 5 hours! after a Catscan, and hanging on to the bed in a panic they gave me Valuim to help the spinning. It did help some. Its now 6 days later. I am about 80% better but still spin when turning my head certain ways or move to fast.
446049 tn?1649005835 The phrase has also been loosely used for different manual therapy techniques, including soft tissue manipulation work such as connective tissue massage, soft tissue mobilization, foam rolling, structural integration, and strain-counterstrain techniques. However, in current medical terminology, myofascial release refers mainly to the soft tissue manipulation techniques described below.
Avatar f tn I get that too, often actually, because I've had muscle problems since I was 12. If it's the same thing, then you have two options - firstly wait, because it does go away after a long and annoying while. Secondly (and much better) go to a Physio and tell them, they'll do a sweet deep tissue massage or trigger point therapy and do whatever they tell you to do (exercises, take it easy, or whatever) it should get better after that.
Avatar m tn Besides focusing on correcting your posture and strengthening your muscles hire an experienced masseuse/masseur to give you a good deep tissue massage using moist heat and stretching techniques. You will know if the masseuse/masseur has located your active trigger points because when she/he applies pressure to the area it will reproduce your burning sensation. In the meantime you can help yourself by laying on tennis balls.
Avatar m tn I have myofascial pain syndrome as well as a list of other serious back conditions and self accupressure helps much more than a massage. Even a deep tissue massage cannot get the knots out. Only self accupressure can. If you google "Theracane", a lot of good info will pop up on how to order one so that you can start this therapy. Myofascial pain syndrome is caused by tight bands of muscle tissue that send radiating pain throughout the back and into the neck or shoulders.
Avatar m tn My experience has been that massage can be a wonderful complement to Lyme treatment, but it can also cause a temporary increase in symptoms. I had a wonderful chiropractor before I moved and he did a lot of massage techniques on me. It provided excellent relief of pain from the many inflamed bunches of muscles I have developed due to Lyme. However, on a couple of occasions I experienced a notable worsening of symptoms within hours of my treatments.
Avatar f tn ) and then did some adjustment/hard massage. Now my neck is sore like I got a really hard deep tissue massage, much worse pain than normal. Any thoughts? Is this is a completely separate problem or related? Does anyone else have displaced vertebrae? Thank you for any insight!
Avatar f tn m having terrible neck and shoulder pain, only upon bending neck and shoulders backwards. Had deep tissue massage yesterday, and therapist said I had the worst knots and tension she had ever seen. I'm a 28 up female. Said my pain is probably muscular. Could it be arthritis? 424861 tn?1203455151 be sure your mother lets the therapist know before she gets a massage and though sometimes deep tissue feels good to us, it will cause more pain and fatigue for days after the massage and may not show up til the next day or two after the massage. some therapists do not know how to properly address fibro during massage so when youre mom is looking for a therapist she should call before hand and ask the therapist about her knowledge of the disease and treating it with massage techniques.
Avatar f tn Well, I can tell you one thing that you can do that might help him. Get into firmly rubbing out both shoulders real good. No need to go into the neck. Just work on those shoulders. It's possible in addition to the pain from blood pressure, could be he's wrenched up those muscles during this whole thing, and that can make a headache even worse. Also, regular very warm soaks in the tub help that sort of thing, but only temporarily. A good massage will last hours.
Avatar n tn The long term injury though could aggravate and bring about more symptoms from this pre-existing problem. Deep tissue massage or intensive acupuncture can help.Good luck!

While massage may provide some temporary relief, it is not considered to be a long-term solution for cellulite. Radiofrequency (RF) therapy: RF therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses radio waves to heat the skin's deeper layers. This heating effect is thought to stimulate collagen production, which can help to tighten and smooth the skin.
Avatar m tn My doctor has not been quick to want to operate, but has agreed after I have done a few years of PT, deep tissue massage, cortisone shot, nerve block and trigger point injections. Were you able to move your shoulder joint before? I wonder because I have full rom, just pain - the worst pain is in my scapula and neck area and my chest. I have been having what they think are muscle spasms in the chest area - and I am hoping the shoulder surgery will help with those muscles.
Avatar n tn you should get a deep tissue massage, adn tell the therapist where you are hurting. but remember, a deep tissue massage does not have to be extrememly painful. it is supposed to be to your pain tolerance and if the therapist goes to deeply you are supposed to tell them and they lighten up. a lot of people are afraid of deep tissue becasue they think it is supposed to hurt. if it hurts to the point where it makes you tense up even more then it is counter productive.
Avatar m tn I swear by deep tissue massage and chiropractic care for the same issue
Avatar m tn Two years ago I did a deep tissue massage, after 3 days I had hard pain in my back specially in my shoulders and trapezium. I suffered all year 2015 with contractures, I did 45 sessions of phisioterapy. Could this strong massage cause a cancer?

Avatar m tn Hi all, I am hoping to find a professional or someone who has had experience with this - My shoulder has hurt since car accident 4 yrs ago. Have done tons of PT, deep tissue massage, cortisone injection, trigger point injections and nerve block. MRI of brachial plexus a few years ago showed multiple lymph nodes. A more recent MRI of shoulder shows bursitis and some small amount of fraying.
