Swedish massage or deep tissue

Common Questions and Answers about Swedish massage or deep tissue

massage

Avatar f tn Okay. Good. Deep tissue is the type of massage that you will need. Swedish only works on the superficial muscle and tissue. Ice after the massage, if deep tissue. You can be sore (like soreness after a workout) because toxins are being pushed out of the muscle into you body. Also drink lots of water to hydrate you muscles. Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Avatar m tn She said that the deep tissue massage can and often does do more harm than good. It can cause tissue damage deep inside and result in even more pain. She says that a good massage will relax you and never cause pain. After my pt exercises, she uses an ultra sound machine, applies heat, then gently but firmly massages my upper shoulders, neck, and base of my skull, then puts Biofreeze on, which is like Icy Hot only better.
1060976 tn?1258703824 Because it is the easiest of the IVF treatments, I say relax. Get a nice pedi & mani, but mostly, get a good deep tissue (anytime this week) or swedish massage & try to relax. If you can get accu-pressure or puncture treatment a couple days before...even better. I say it's all about the relaxation. ;o) Mounds of RSSBD to ya.
Avatar f tn Dr. Hook, I appreciate your comment. A brief followup, I am curious if you have seen cases with HIV transmitted through massage or similar non-sexual interaction or should I assume that this cannot happen or at least hasn't happen. Thank you.
398059 tn?1447945633 Swedish massage is out for you and me. Deep kneading only aggravates the muscles and often causes spaasms and pain. I found a massage therapist who is excellent with positional release and accupressure. Both are really gentle touch, and extremely beneficial for relaxing those hyper-muscles. You might search in your area for someone who is trained in either of those techniques. If you google positional release you will find a lot of information.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried LaStone Massage Therapy or the use of Bamboo? I have heard that the Bamboo provides a deep tissue massage without the discomfort from the practitioner's hands, arms, or elbows. The LaStone uses smooth stones that are heated and cooled with the balance of a light Swedish massage. There are still more modalities that I am learning to become a Massage Therapist.
237053 tn?1258828426 Is this true!!??/ Crazy... I know but... I had a massage (deep tissue.. that I must say HURT LIKE HELL), and literally the next day is when I noticed the cognitive problems and weakness. Maybe it is just coincidence, but very strange. I had had the slight numbness in my toes and the stiff painful neck shoulders prior, so I thought a massage would do me good. NO! The next day all everthing got worse! That weekend I ended up in the ER due to weakness, numbness, and dizziness.
Avatar m tn Two years ago I did a deep tissue massage, after 3 days I had hard pain in my back specially in my shoulders and trapezium. I suffered all year 2015 with contractures, I did 45 sessions of phisioterapy. Could this strong massage cause a cancer?

Avatar n tn If you hate exercise, then go to a professional massage therapist twice a week, Swedish is the best for deep muscle tissue where toxins are, and then drink lots of water and do your hot bath. Acupuncture helps some people, too, opens up blocked nerve pathways in the body.
Avatar f tn I had a deep tissue massage 4 days ago and the vertigo has not stopped. I never had vertigo before. I am using a walker to move around because I am afraid of falling. Standing up too fast or even changing from side to side in the bed sends me spinning. I hope this goes away. I have an appointment to see my doctor soon. Word to EVERYONE, go easy on the neck.
Avatar f tn Takes all the weight off the spine. Most of the time it makes it stop hurting for a while. Also, massage therapy is helpful, Swedish massage is the best kind for me, breaks up all the tension in the muscles that builds up from pain, for a while anyway.
Avatar m tn Trigger point massage isn't the same thing as deep tissue massage. Deep tissue massage goes very deep into muscles, and it hurts. Trigger point massage also hurts, but not as much. For you, it helped and was relaxing afterward. For others, it doesn't help at all -- there's no medical evidence that shows massage actually does anything, but you can't tell that to anyone who has had one and felt a lot better for a while.
667923 tn?1421462724 I'm still suffering from a DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE that I received last year in May. Suffered all Spring/Summer long and then in the Winter time, it recessed in pain. So, I thought that it went away, but I was WRONG. o.O I have to wrap my elbows and knees in compression socks, just to get some relief and every movement...I yelp out. OF course, They do swell some because got a pic of my left knee swollen right on the side of the knee-cap.
Avatar f tn So, I would suggest perhaps going to a sports injury doc, they deal with things like rotator cuff injuries all the time, and he can evaluate you and perhaps order physical therapy. On your own, you could instead visit a professional massage therapist, deep Swedish massage a few times might break up the pain in there and relieve your headaches. Now, anytime a person is in a lot of pain, they will have your other symptoms of being tired, not able to focus, and emotional problems.
Avatar m tn Some massage techniques that are commonly used for cellulite include lymphatic drainage massage, deep tissue massage, and myofascial release. While massage may provide some temporary relief, it is not considered to be a long-term solution for cellulite. Radiofrequency (RF) therapy: RF therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses radio waves to heat the skin's deeper layers. This heating effect is thought to stimulate collagen production, which can help to tighten and smooth the skin.
Avatar f tn s just migranes but nothing is helping and nothing is going away. He suggested a deep tissue massage but when I was getting on on my head the pain was so bad I was crying, i've never had pains in my head as bad as these nor dizziness. Any idea what this could be?
Avatar n tn Hey Toots, You have a wise therapist. I am an LMP (Licensed Massage Therapist)............well, let me amend that. I USE to be one for many years, but I have a fairly sever form of arthritis which has now prevented me from practicing that particular craft. Massage can work miracles for those of us dealing with anxiety and panic. Her suggestion that you have a session once a week is good advice, but they CAN be expensive. Many insurance companies now include theraputic massage in their coverage.
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, On July 8th, I went to a massage parlour in Delhi,India. She tried to give me an intercourse where my penis went into her vagina and skin got torn slightly so I immediately pulled it out and washed my penis. It was a unprotected I know it is my complete stupidity to have unprotected. Can you please tell me am I in the high risk of HIV being infected? For past two days (20th July) I have a sore throat, runny rose and sneeze are these ARS symptoms?
Avatar m tn About 5 weeks ago I went to a local massage place. I came in for a Swedish massage and I ended up with a prostate massage. The masseuse was being a little to rough and I think that my bowel were not empty. Since then been I having all kind symptoms. At first, for about two weeks I had a burning sensation in my lower left abdominal area and constipation, then I started getting hot flashes and a light pain in my anus , scrotum and lower abdominal area and occasional joint pain.
1415174 tn?1453243103 But I worry they might be too rough. Perhaps a swedish or hot stone massage? What do you think of sports massage that knows trigger points, are they too rough? I haven't gone to them yet.
Avatar f tn My cousin did. As a professional massage therapist I recomended a swedish massage twice a month. It's cheaper than seeing a therapist, or medications and if you need those they'll refer you. But you might as well take the option that just plain feels good, and gives you a moment to focus on you and feel better faster.
Avatar f tn Prenatal massage is usually done with a light pressure so dont expect a deep tissue massage. Also check which oils they use because i think certain oils should be avoided in pregnancy.
764912 tn?1322711843 One of my parents has been getting PT for their neck, which is in horrible shape by x-ray. They have done tens unit, traction, heat, tips on improving posture, and exercises, though I don't think they've been doing deep tissue massage. I had an acupuncturist do some massage on my trapezius and neck area and it was really nice, helped the muscles relax.
