Avatar m tn My experience has been that massage can be a wonderful complement to Lyme treatment, but it can also cause a temporary increase in symptoms. I had a wonderful chiropractor before I moved and he did a lot of massage techniques on me. It provided excellent relief of pain from the many inflamed bunches of muscles I have developed due to Lyme. However, on a couple of occasions I experienced a notable worsening of symptoms within hours of my treatments.

While massage may provide some temporary relief, it is not considered to be a long-term solution for cellulite. Radiofrequency (RF) therapy: RF therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses radio waves to heat the skin's deeper layers. This heating effect is thought to stimulate collagen production, which can help to tighten and smooth the skin.
Avatar m tn She said that the deep tissue massage can and often does do more harm than good. It can cause tissue damage deep inside and result in even more pain. She says that a good massage will relax you and never cause pain. After my pt exercises, she uses an ultra sound machine, applies heat, then gently but firmly massages my upper shoulders, neck, and base of my skull, then puts Biofreeze on, which is like Icy Hot only better.
Avatar m tn Two years ago I did a deep tissue massage, after 3 days I had hard pain in my back specially in my shoulders and trapezium. I suffered all year 2015 with contractures, I did 45 sessions of phisioterapy. Could this strong massage cause a cancer?

Avatar m tn Passive treatments relax your body and include deep tissue massage, hot and cold therapy, electrical stimulation (eg, TENS), and hydrotherapy. Your physical therapy program will usually begin with passive treatments. But once your body heals, you will start active treatments that strengthen your body and prevent further pain. Your physical therapist will work with you to develop a plan that best suits you.... all the best..
237053 tn?1258828426 Is this true!!??/ Crazy... I know but... I had a massage (deep tissue.. that I must say HURT LIKE HELL), and literally the next day is when I noticed the cognitive problems and weakness. Maybe it is just coincidence, but very strange. I had had the slight numbness in my toes and the stiff painful neck shoulders prior, so I thought a massage would do me good. NO! The next day all everthing got worse! That weekend I ended up in the ER due to weakness, numbness, and dizziness.
Avatar f tn I had a deep tissue massage 4 days ago and the vertigo has not stopped. I never had vertigo before. I am using a walker to move around because I am afraid of falling. Standing up too fast or even changing from side to side in the bed sends me spinning. I hope this goes away. I have an appointment to see my doctor soon. Word to EVERYONE, go easy on the neck.
Avatar m tn Trigger point massage isn't the same thing as deep tissue massage. Deep tissue massage goes very deep into muscles, and it hurts. Trigger point massage also hurts, but not as much. For you, it helped and was relaxing afterward. For others, it doesn't help at all -- there's no medical evidence that shows massage actually does anything, but you can't tell that to anyone who has had one and felt a lot better for a while.
Avatar m tn Hello Dr. Two days before I was in Dubai and I do oil massage With Girl From Thailand Then She do massage for my Penis Until ejaculation I'm afraid.Question Is there a risk, Should Ido test for hiv or For any other disease .
Avatar n tn Hey Toots, You have a wise therapist. I am an LMP (Licensed Massage Therapist)............well, let me amend that. I USE to be one for many years, but I have a fairly sever form of arthritis which has now prevented me from practicing that particular craft. Massage can work miracles for those of us dealing with anxiety and panic. Her suggestion that you have a session once a week is good advice, but they CAN be expensive. Many insurance companies now include theraputic massage in their coverage.

1446980 tn?1286838538 Yep, I do avoid the neck area, and I roll around the neck - usually the shoulders and thoracic spine. I don't have a Chiari Dr yet, I am in Canada so this is a challenge. I may be looking to the Chiari Institute if I have no luck in my home town. I am still waiting on an appointment date with my second neurologist, we'll see how it goes...
764912 tn?1322711843 One of my parents has been getting PT for their neck, which is in horrible shape by x-ray. They have done tens unit, traction, heat, tips on improving posture, and exercises, though I don't think they've been doing deep tissue massage. I had an acupuncturist do some massage on my trapezius and neck area and it was really nice, helped the muscles relax.
Avatar n tn Massage therapists could never penetrate the muscle tissue deep enough to provide any lasting relief. Instead of massage therapy, I do self accupressure with a theracane that provides more relief for a longer amount of time and it's free (after you buy the theracane of course!).
Avatar f tn It is similar to acupressure or a deep-tissue massage where a massage therapist will put pressure onto a knot to release it. Just like with deep bodywork, foam rolling may hurt but you will feel better afterward. Do foam rolling exercises daily and after a workout.
Avatar f tn I'm normally very active and have been for my entire life, I do heavy weight lifting and also have some injuries (ruptured discs in lower back, tailbone pain, and obvious anterior pelvic tilt). All of my muscles are very stiff and inflexible and are very tight and sore deep in the muscle. I sometimes feel spasms all over in my muscles.
