Avatar f tn Usually they do surgery not a biopsy as the location does not lend itself to a biopsy. So they should keep an eye on the imaging and your blood tests and decide and may increase the frequency until they know you are stable. Keep us posted..
Avatar f tn How do you wean off the medicine DDAVP? I've been taking this medicine for many years only to find out my tests say I don't need it (I had small injury to pituitary in brain). Unfortunately I find it almost impossible to wean off because it makes you go to the bathroom ALOT after the medicine ware's off! since it's an anti diuretic/water retaining pill! Confusing and tricky.
Avatar m tn One of the ways we would try to determine this was by prescribing DDAVP (if there were not any issues that would prevent using it). Desmopressin (trade names: DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men).
Avatar n tn thank you
Avatar f tn is flexible ureteroscopy with possible biopsy. This is where a small flexible camera is used to look from the bladder into the ureter (tube that connects kidney to bladder) and kidney if necessary to inspect by vision for any abnormalities that may be seen on the right RU. If there is a lesion then a biopsy of the tissue can be performed at that time to determine what the lesion is composed of.
Avatar n tn The lining can be thin or thick and many times thick wall lining of the cysts leads to kidney cancer. In such cases, renal biopsy is one of the best method to decide the mode of treatment. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
1014186 tn?1251036546 I recently had a ct and they found two renal lesions. One on right side is 1.5cm & one on left side is 3.5cm. Should I be concerned?
Avatar n tn My question is I have asked her endocrinologist to prescribe DDAVP for her to take during several camps she has this summer. He will not because of a chance she could have a seizure. I can't remember the exact reason but it does have to do with her diabetes and how DDAVP interact in a diabetic's body. He said the chance is very low, but possible. Could you give me your thoughts on a Type 1 diabetic using DDAVP.
1037367 tn?1267134141 My daughter at 11I yrs old was diagnosed with HSP .....no known cause at the beginning symptoms I really thought she was attacked by a virus at the movie theaters because she had sat on the floor way in the back wall and leaving the theater is were her symptoms started quickly. She was never sick of anything before. Its been a horrible thing to live through especially when there is no cure only let ride out for a whole month and aleve.
Avatar f tn I would suggest that you get a renal biopsy and a cystoscopy done to rule out bladder malignancies and glomerular disease. Is there any accompanying finding like proteinuria, red cell casts etc? Also, a CT scan would rule out renal stones, infections in the tract or in the perineum which could cause microscopic haematuria. Consult a urologist for further assistance. Best.

Avatar m tn Renal biopsy confirmed a membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (MPGN). PCR assay of renal tissue was positive for HCV RNA, in contrast to simultaneous serum and cryoprecipitate samples that were negative. The HCV genotype was not determined. In view of the diagnosis of HCV-associated cryoglobulinaemic MPGN, treatment with pegylated interferon-α2a 90 mcg weekly was continued and his condition slowly improved with normalisation of serum creatinine and albumin.
Avatar m tn Kinda of a weird question but I am a week from biopsy and my Doctor has requested both a blood test and 24 hour urine?. Anyone else do this ?
Avatar n tn However, it may be severe enough to cause (as well as be caused by) renal tubular acidosis or even end stage renal failure, due to disruption of the renal tissue by the deposited calcium) are reported, and proteinuria (the presence of an excess of serum proteins in the urine.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the encouragement. I got the biopsy results yesterday, and it was positive for renal cell cancer metastasis. The doctor wants to wait two weeks to see if my voice/swallowing problem gets better as the swelling goes down before sending me to an EENT doctor. I wonder if anyone else has renal cell cancer in their thyroid? It is rare.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma in Mar. 2020. My left kidney was cut out. The doctor said that the cancer did not spread out. In Sep. 2020 the CT found that I was healthy, i.e. no more cancer was found in my body. But the in Dec. 2020 the CT found cancers in my left lung, one about 1cm, another about 1mm, and others of size that the doctor didn't mention. The doctor regard them as spreaded from the kidney cell cancer. I received medicine(chemical) cure from then on.
Avatar f tn Since you were just diagnosed, did you happen to also have a liver biopsy as well and if so what is the condition of your liver? ___________________________________________________________ Pain Management in the Cirrhotic Patient: The Clinical Challenge ".....
Avatar m tn Continued CT follow-up to document the stability of the hepatic and right renal abnormalities. MRI may be useful to better characterize the liver and right kidney anormalities. I don't see the ID folks until the 25th, but I went and picked up my own copies from the hospital. I have been waiting to treat Hepatitis C due to lesions on liver/kidney which were seen during liver biopsy 6 months ago.
