desmopressin renal biopsy

My father had a brain tumor removed and now has to take a nasal spray called Desmopressin. His endocranologist only wants him to use it one time a day, but the problem is he goes to the bathroom sometimes every 15 minutes!!!! He is also on 1/2 mg of Dexamethasone and that's part of the problem. Sometimes he takes two puffs a day but the doctor doesn't want him to do that daily.

There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.

I have seen urologists, done physical therapy, taken desmopressin, set alarms to wake up in the night, cut back my liquid intake in the evenings, had my bladder checked for abnormalities (there are none), used moisture-sensitive alarms, and attempted to train myself to make sure that I am fully awake when I get up in the night to urinate. Sadly, none of these solutions have worked. People say that bedwetting is a problem that people grow out of, but I am starting to believe that I never will.

t mention in your question what medication you were taking. Commonly central DI is treated with desmopressin. Desmopressin works by limiting the amount of water passed in the urine. I don't know why you would suddenly notice a decrease in your symptoms after 34 years. I would recommend making an appointment with your regular doctor to see what might be causing this. Until you can be seen, it is important that you remain aware of your fluid intake and output.

I recently had a ct and they found two renal lesions. One on right side is 1.5cm & one on left side is 3.5cm. Should I be concerned?

My daughter at 11I yrs old was diagnosed with HSP .....no known cause at the beginning symptoms I really thought she was attacked by a virus at the movie theaters because she had sat on the floor way in the back wall and leaving the theater is were her symptoms started quickly. She was never sick of anything before. Its been a horrible thing to live through especially when there is no cure only let ride out for a whole month and aleve.

today the consultant gave me tablets called desmopressin acetate. i understand they reduce urine amounts. will try but cant see them working well. Any new ideas or anyone with same prob please help.

I would suggest that you get a renal biopsy and a cystoscopy done to rule out bladder malignancies and glomerular disease. Is there any accompanying finding like proteinuria, red cell casts etc? Also, a CT scan would rule out renal stones, infections in the tract or in the perineum which could cause microscopic haematuria. Consult a urologist for further assistance. Best.

hello i am 22 year old female i have renal and adnexal cyst on my left kidney i have compensatory enlargement of left kidney.i was born with one kidney. lately i have been haveng left upper side pain constantly and i always feel bloated wether i eat something or not. i always feel nauseated and my back tends to hurt and sometimes it's hard for me to sit up. i have numbness in my hands and my legs are always hurting i had a cat scan and my findings are listed above.

Thanks for the encouragement. I got the biopsy results yesterday, and it was positive for renal cell cancer metastasis. The doctor wants to wait two weeks to see if my voice/swallowing problem gets better as the swelling goes down before sending me to an EENT doctor. I wonder if anyone else has renal cell cancer in their thyroid? It is rare.
