Avatar f tn How do you wean off the medicine DDAVP? I've been taking this medicine for many years only to find out my tests say I don't need it (I had small injury to pituitary in brain). Unfortunately I find it almost impossible to wean off because it makes you go to the bathroom ALOT after the medicine ware's off! since it's an anti diuretic/water retaining pill! Confusing and tricky.
Avatar f tn Birth control pills do not work to stop the bleeding at this time I am taking two seasonale pills daily and estrogen to try to control bleeding, but I have been bleeding for a month now. Hematologist has done tests to rule out vonwildebrands disease and other bleeding disorders, all sonograms show no gynecological problems., Have had multiple tests to check hormone function-all have showed no problems, currently cannot do any tests.
Avatar m tn DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). Check with your urologist about the possibility of this treatment. Best of luck.

I would like to know if there's more info about this papaya leaf extract.
Avatar n tn My question is I have asked her endocrinologist to prescribe DDAVP for her to take during several camps she has this summer. He will not because of a chance she could have a seizure. I can't remember the exact reason but it does have to do with her diabetes and how DDAVP interact in a diabetic's body. He said the chance is very low, but possible. Could you give me your thoughts on a Type 1 diabetic using DDAVP.
1216899 tn?1288570325 ve already had one surgery for a CSF leak and am going back to California in May for another round of testing to see if it has come back and they can pinpoint it- I dunno if you have this though just throwing it out at you since you are in the process of being diagnosed. Avatar m tn How long did it take for your diabetes insipidus to resolve? how long did it take for your doctor to prescribe testosterone? My endo refuses to prescribed the testosterone as he says that should recover by itself, however I am exhausted all day. I am on ddavp (sublingual pill) and 10mg of prednisone.
Avatar m tn It is a autoimmune disease having an abnormally low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) of unknown origin. It occurs in children as well as adults. Peak prevalence occurs in adults aged 20-50 years. Peak prevalence occurs in children aged 2-4 years. Approximately 40% of all patients are younger than 10 years. as adults. Low platelet count (Thrombocytopenia) can be a side effect of HCV treatment drugs. Especially peg-interferon. Thrombocytopenia is also a complication of cirrhosis of the liver.
1363339 tn?1338771053 I don’t take it regularly because I find it hard for me to balance out between hypo and hyper. I become tired with it. I always try to minimize stress as much as possible, laugh as much as possible, because I know stress make this disease worse and I’ve experienced it quite well if I got stressed out. Is it right that hormone insufficiencies can only be noticeable or come into effect sometime later.
Avatar n tn She was treated initially for both tick borne and Thrombocytopenia with 80 mg. of Predisone and 200mg Doxycline daily. She was on Doxycline for 3 -weeks, now just the Predisone at a dosage of 40mg daily. My vet suspects IMTP, but cannot diagnose the cause. She responded immediately to the predisone and her platelet counts have all been over 200,000 ( we test her weekly).
Avatar m tn We have a 7 year old colllie just diagnosed with Diabetes Insipetes (nephrogenic). Vet recommends treatment with ddavp eye drop. All the information we can find says that this is "very expensive". Can you give us a ballpark of what this actually means for annual cost of care? What are the implications of leaving this untreated if she has on going access to fresh clean water?
Avatar f tn your weakness and weight gain will begin to resolve once you stop receiving IVIG and steroids. These medications will only stop when you stop having episodes of thrombocytopenia. The thrombocytopenia will hopefully resolve once the tumor starts responding to the chemotherapy.
4043517 tn?1374006573 Promacta (eltrombopag) has been available since 2008 for ITP and has used off label by some doctors to treat thrombocytopenia in treating low platelet counts in in hepatitis C patients doing interferon based treatment. The FDA has expanded its use now to include treating hepatitis C patients. NOTE: Safety and efficacy have not been established in combination with direct-acting antiviral agents approved for treatment of chronic hepatitis C genotype 1 infection.
Avatar m tn Complications more often arise from the conditions that cause thrombocytopenia. For example, the kidney failure that accompanies hemolytic uremic syndrome may require lifelong treatment if damage to the kidneys is permanent. Treatment Sometimes, treatment for thrombocytopenia isn't necessary, particularly in children. In these cases, the bone marrow may make up for the shortage of platelets by producing large numbers of new ones until the initiating cause subsides.
Avatar m tn Hello~First, your friend needs to be examined by the GP, there could be some reasons for this such as Diabetes, urinary track issues, infections, or other issues with the kidneys and/or bladder. There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea.
Avatar f tn The tumor was germinoma. Yes u are right it was the optic nerve. Avatar f tn He will see his gastro later this month. We are desperately looking for a chance at re-treatment for the HepC, but anticipating some resistance. Even a maintenance type trial which would reduce viral load would be beneficial, since his Haem thinks the lymphoma may be triggered by an increase in viral load, which of course fluctuates. I would greatly appreciate any info or suggestions regarding my partner’s situation.
