Avatar f tn How do you wean off the medicine DDAVP? I've been taking this medicine for many years only to find out my tests say I don't need it (I had small injury to pituitary in brain). Unfortunately I find it almost impossible to wean off because it makes you go to the bathroom ALOT after the medicine ware's off! since it's an anti diuretic/water retaining pill! Confusing and tricky.
Avatar m tn One of the ways we would try to determine this was by prescribing DDAVP (if there were not any issues that would prevent using it). Desmopressin (trade names: DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men).

Avatar m tn I just wanted to clear few confusions with regards to the Palpitations that occur post CABG... Are these normal. My Father underwent a CABG around 4 months ago, He is doing fine.. His health is also stable, However, He sometimes experience palpitations. but now it happens frequently. The cardiologist diagnosed the situation and concluded it to be normal. So, Please guide whether this is eventually a normal process post CABG.. Thanks... Regards, Mohammed.
Avatar f tn We took a second opinion and the doctor said he could either use a stent or undergo CABG. I have read about the risks involved in CABG and I am confused. Does he have time to make changes to his lifestyle (more exercises and Yoga and vegan food) or is he already at risk? Is CABG the best option? Does he really need a CABG? Or Stent?
Avatar n tn My question is I have asked her endocrinologist to prescribe DDAVP for her to take during several camps she has this summer. He will not because of a chance she could have a seizure. I can't remember the exact reason but it does have to do with her diabetes and how DDAVP interact in a diabetic's body. He said the chance is very low, but possible. Could you give me your thoughts on a Type 1 diabetic using DDAVP.

Avatar m tn Double vessel coronary artery disease with good LV systolic function(on echocardiogram) and recommended for CABG. I want to know whether it needs to be performed immediately or there is any other alternative to CABG for this patient. He is now normal and doctors have prescribed him valsartan, atorvastatin, clopidogrel and aspirin capsules.
Avatar n tn PTCA (angioplasty) with stenting, in addition to aggressive risk factor modification, may significantly limit the need for repeat CABG years later. Repeat CABG surgery is occasionally necessary, but may have a higher risk of complication.
Avatar m tn The question title above lists the order of events that has changed my 57yr YOUNG wife forever. We were advised to pursue open heart double CABG after an angiogram discovered 60% blockage in her upper LADA. The dissection occurred (6 1/2 weeks post CABG surgery) at the point of one of the bypass sutures. My question is simple... What does the research tell us about the rarity or possibility of this particular CABG outcome?
Avatar m tn Can you clarify something? Did you have a CABG? (heart surgery). The CABG area should be located in the area of your sternum. In my opinion, this hernia has nothing to do with the surgery or your car accident.
Avatar m tn I was evaluated by an excellent group of doctors, debating intervention or invasion. The surgeons performed CABG X 3. Quick recovery, but never experienced lack of chest pain when exercising, which was noted for 2 years in my follow ups. Just had a cardiac cath and 3 stents were placed. Original CABG: 1 non performing, 1 compromised, 1 ok. Should I have been consulted before stent placement to evaluate whether another CABG was indicated?
1718548 tn?1309086977 You may want to do a self - analysis before consultation with a doctor. You have had the pain since cabg that would almost rule out broken wires. If there are broken wires, the sternum would be unstable and individuals can feel a movement when coughing, deep breathing, etc. and can be associated with and infected there will be a discharge and fever. Pericarditis may be encountered post-CABG, causing chest pain and discomfort.
Avatar m tn He is normal, feels some chest pain during fast walking or upstairs. After Coronary Angiography diagnosis are DM2/HTN/TMT(+Ve)/LVEF-65%/CAG-TVD.Doctor advised CABG.
Avatar m tn minimally invasive heart surgery, minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass, or MIDCAB, follows the basic premise of conventional coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG), but in a truly minimally invasive fashion. Whereas CABG requires cardioplegia (arrest of contractions) to stop the heart, the use the heart lung machine for cardiopulmonary bypass, and a 30 cm.
Avatar m tn We have a 7 year old colllie just diagnosed with Diabetes Insipetes (nephrogenic). Vet recommends treatment with ddavp eye drop. All the information we can find says that this is "very expensive". Can you give us a ballpark of what this actually means for annual cost of care? What are the implications of leaving this untreated if she has on going access to fresh clean water?
Avatar f tn Very interesting case. I would make another appointment with your cardiologist and ask him this. "If my EF is the same after my CABG as that of before the CABG, doesn't that mean the CABG failed or was a waste of time? I would like you to evaluate my heart for tissue death and tell me if I have suffered an MI. I had not had MI before the CABG so what on earth is going on".
