Ddavp and sodium

Common Questions and Answers about Ddavp and sodium

ddavp

Avatar f tn When I first started using DDAVP ~9 years ago i had to weigh myself every day and measure my input and urine output to get the "hang" of it. The rule was if I gained more than two pounds in day I was to cut back on my fluid intake and dose. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Mine is partial so it ebbs and flows a bit and I do have to adjust my DDAVP dose sometimes. Without DDAVP my fluid consumption is 4 or more gallons a day. At first, I kept a fluid intake and output diary. Also I weighed myself every morning to see if I was taking to much medication and/or not consuming the right amount of fluids. And yes, for me the best approach has ended up to take DDAVP just at night so that I can sleep without having to get up every 1/2 hour to drink and pee.
Avatar m tn Hi, Do not feel embarrassed, such problems are quite common and doctors are there to help you. So, do consult a urologist and get appropriate treatment. Here is a link that gives a lot of details about this problem: http://www.nafc.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 13 years old and has always & still struggles with bed wetting. She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 1.5 years ago. Her endocrinologist does not believe the wetting has to do with her diabetes. If her blood sugars are high before she goes to bed we can almost be 100% sure she will have a wet bed, but most times her sugars are in range and she might still wet. She has also gone through many test on her bladder and all is normal.
Avatar m tn They were all within their normal ranges, although I believe (and I speak under correction) my ACTH levels where on the high end of normal. I had the initial usual high sodium and albumin levels due to the DI and also have low vitamin D levels. My endo is a specialist in neuro-endo and is highly respected so I feel confident in my care. I will request a copy of my results though as it cant hurt to be fully aware of what is going on.
Avatar f tn You should know too that sodium and potassium work hand in hand - that they work in tandem so if sodium goes down, often potassium will spike or it may also go down as well. I know this from my adrenal issues - I have to keep an eye on both - and the sodium issue can be deadly (it is why I wear a medic alert bracelet). Have they thought about bringing in a neuro-endocrinologist to see him - maybe they hit the pituitary?
16141151 tn?1445607578 I am still on 15mg cortef and 1-2 sprays of DDAVP per day. My body has changed- I am gaining weight and it is mostly on the back and at my waist above my ribs. My skin is different (dryer, less elastic), and overall I don't feel quite right. I am still feeling a bit frustrated and surprised by the fact that I have all these deficiencies, despite the fact that my surgeon was very confident prior to the surgery that I would be cured.

Avatar m tn I ADORE collies, they are my breed of choice and I just got a puppy a month or so ago after I lost my sable and white female, Katie, last May. I'd love to see pics!
1485372 tn?1359545131 When I had severe low sodium levels I was placed on fluid restriction. No more than 24 oz of liquid per day. It was terrible but it worked and I.lived that way for 7 yrs until they found what caused it.

Avatar f tn m 17yrs old I had a tumor that was attached to the pituitary gland when I was 12 it was removed partially the rest was removed with chemo and radiation due to being attached to my eyes. when I was 15 it came back I had chemo and radiation and it was gone now I had an MRI done and apperantly my doc sees what can be scar tissue or the tumor again. Can some one explain what scar tissue is and if it's in any way bad for me or it's long term side effects please and thank you!!!
Avatar m tn Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old. According to the Food and Drug Administration, nasal spray formulations of Desmopressin (Noctiva, others) are no longer recommended for treatment of bed-wetting due to the risk of serious side effects. Again, however, I can't stress enough that your friend should be checked by the GP, as an adult , this can signal other issues that need fairly prompt attention.
Avatar f tn I have been having light bleeding since November 8, along with really bad pelvic pain, blood clots, bloating, fatigue, weakness, and feeling like I am getting sick. I have used a nasal spray (DDAVP) for three weeks, but the bleeding did not stop. I tried doubling up on the nasal spray since I was prescribed the wrong strength, but it did not help. I had my second Depo Provera shot on December 7. I thought it would help make the bleeding stop, but I am still bleeding.
Avatar f tn I go through bouts of what seems like diabetes insipidus, but i am having to pee every 20-30 minutes, and my bladder is pretty full---and I'm not drinking fluids. it will last a couple of hours, and then quit. i haven't figured out what is going on---but i do have hypopituitarism.
Avatar n tn You should not feel this way - why are you not seeing your endo or your surgeon for lab tests? It could be a sodium disorder or something - and you really want to take care of this. Of course your hormones are out of balance after the pituitary has been pushed around a bit - so you need the support of medications. Lab testing will show the doctor what you need. Get to the doctor!!!
Avatar f tn she will have 4 packets of oatmeal and a glass of milk in the am. Another possible symptom is nocturnal enuresis. She is on DDAVP at night .05 mg X approx. 4 months. If I remember to wake her up around 2am she may be dry, before the DDAVP she was going through 2 goodnights diapers a night... if I didn't change it midway she and the bed would be completely soaked. Anyway, her Thyroid was hyperactive, and she is allergic to Milk and Eggs (she did have hives when we were at the Dr).
Avatar m tn ive never went this much during the night..i had to go get on some meds called ddavp to slow it down so i can sleep..
Avatar n tn Thyroid, cortisol, DDAVP, and Growth Hormone. Also, for a while, I also used transdermal estrogen/progesterone. I am 46 and opted to just go through menopause since I did not want kids. Pros for me:since the surgery:I've been able to lose 50#, I control my hormones now rather than the cyst.
Avatar n tn My question is if this is necessary to put her right away on such an expensive tablet, if there is any other way to treat incontinence, how can he diagnose a missing hormone(sorry for my poor language) with a simple blood or urine test and can DDAVP be taken along with other drugs, in particular Clavamox.
Avatar f tn how much sodium should be consumed a day while on depakote er? I take 250mg twice a day. morning and night. I don't want to have any issues with my sodium levels and this medication so I'm just wondering because I can't find the answer to this anywhere. also, will staying hydrated and drinking water help with keeping my sodium levels under control? how much should I drink?
Avatar f tn I hate the meds and feel best without them. however, lately I have to urinate constantly and have headaches a lot like I did b4 surgery. I do remember my endo telling me something about frequent urination and giving me shots in the hospital because of frequent trips to the potty. I don't remember why or what caused the urination and am tired of getting up every hour at night to pee. should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn nt nature make a cure or atleast something truly helpful other than just time and sickness? I got the vitamin c pills with sodium ascorbate in them but I am gonna order the powder form tom, I will post on how it works.
