ddavp

Avatar f tn When I first started using DDAVP ~9 years ago i had to weigh myself every day and measure my input and urine output to get the "hang" of it. The rule was if I gained more than two pounds in day I was to cut back on my fluid intake and dose. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Mine is partial so it ebbs and flows a bit and I do have to adjust my DDAVP dose sometimes. Without DDAVP my fluid consumption is 4 or more gallons a day. At first, I kept a fluid intake and output diary. Also I weighed myself every morning to see if I was taking to much medication and/or not consuming the right amount of fluids. And yes, for me the best approach has ended up to take DDAVP just at night so that I can sleep without having to get up every 1/2 hour to drink and pee.
Avatar n tn My mom is in the hospital for a GI bleed from cirrhosis and is hallucinating really bad (probably withdrawals from only quitting drinking the night of her GI bleed). They aren't giving her any medication to help her sleep or relax. Is this the right thing to do.

Avatar m tn Approx 1 yr ago, she had an upper GI bleed (dark stool) and required several units of blood. She was taken off Coumadin and stroked; symptoms . She was treated within 30 minutes with intravenous TPA, with near 100% recovery. Coumadin was restarted. 11 months later, Mom experienced trace bright red blood with diarrhea. INR/PT within normal range, and blood count was good. She was admitted and diagnosed with colitis.
Avatar f tn Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! If your stools are dark and you taste blood in mouth and the taste has altered, then your reflux is not under control. Also you have an active GI bleed either in food pipe or stomach or first part of intestine. If neglected, this can turn serious. Omeprazole alone is not helping you. You will need a combination of acid and reflux reducing drugs. Also some life style changes you will need to follow. Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 13 years old and has always & still struggles with bed wetting. She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 1.5 years ago. Her endocrinologist does not believe the wetting has to do with her diabetes. If her blood sugars are high before she goes to bed we can almost be 100% sure she will have a wet bed, but most times her sugars are in range and she might still wet. She has also gone through many test on her bladder and all is normal.
Avatar n tn blood in stools, also known as melaena and indicates the presence of blood (oxidized haemoglobin) from an upper GI bleed. Causes could be infections, inflammation, gastric/ GI ulcers, oesophageal varices, GI growths/ polyps, a-v malformations, varices, diverticulosis, fistulas, fissures, AV malformation, GI ischaemia and necrosis, bleeding disorders etc. Without further evaluation it would be difficult to differentiate between the causes.
Avatar f tn An endoscopy and colonoscopy were performed and both were negative. No further GI studies were done, and I was discharged. While in the hospital, my blood values showed very low WBC and low neutrophils. I was referred to a hemotologist who has monitored me since then. All my blood counts since June 2009 have shown the same results, low wbc and low neutrophils (absolute). Otherwise, I have been healthy with no increase in infections.

Avatar f tn You could have a fissure, bleeding ulcer, polyps or other serious problems. Since you have buring in your stomach it might be a bleeding ulcer so a gastroscopy and/or upper GI may identify the problem.
Avatar f tn It’s more dull and annoying. A little background. Last month I had a kidney stone and a near fatal upper GI bleed. I passed the kidney stone about 2 weeks ago. I recently, in addition to the pelvic pain started feeling fullness in my bladder. In the last month I’ve had 2 X-Rays and 3 CT scans- one with contrast. Aside from the kidney stone everything was normal including the pelvic area(no mass etc).

Avatar n tn Black stool usually means there is some bleeding somewhere in the GI tract. See a GI doc ASAP !!! Drinking alcohol with Hep C can cause cirrhosis which can cause varices that bleed.

Avatar m tn I ADORE collies, they are my breed of choice and I just got a puppy a month or so ago after I lost my sable and white female, Katie, last May. I'd love to see pics!
Avatar f tn Yay!!! I'm so glad to hear he's doing better!.... Wait a minute. Did I just read the last sentence correctly? If so, this improvement will be short lived. I sounds like I was probably worse than your husband considering I had a major GI bleed in addition to the ascites, BUT I am doing FANTASTIC now. This was Jan. 2008 when I was diagnosed and was prepared for the transplant, etc., but my numbers just keep getting better. So, I am a really good example of how one can turn things around..
Avatar m tn My dad was admitted to the hospital Thursday night (9/4/09) for what we believe is a diverticular bleed. He is now in MICU, and has had 3 units of blood. He continues to pass large amounts of blood. The doctors are trying to avoid a colonoscopy because he had a mild heart attack approximately 3-1/2 weeks ago.
Avatar f tn the hospital said that I had a chest contusion, concussion, and strain muscle in my back and neck. Now my abdomen is hurting, and I am bleeding black blood.what does this mean.
Avatar f tn Black and tarry in texture- this indicates a bleed somewhere in the upper GI tract Bright red- small amounts of blood on the outside of the stool can be from hemorrhoids or anal fissures, however if the amount is excessive or its throughouy the stool as well it could be a bleed somewhere in the lower GI tract White or clay colored: small amounts of white spots in stool can just be from a high fat meal, however if more than 50% of the stool is white or clay colored this can be due to a block in
