dandruff

Avatar f tn I never had dandruff problems before pregnancy, but once I entered my 2nd trimester my scalp is dry and I have lots of dandruff. Anybody else have this problem and a solution? Does it go away after the baby is born?
Avatar n tn I am pretty sure its due to the dandruff which I dont think is normal I am using shampoo every alternate day with a anti dandruff shampoo on every 4th time so its like I am shampooing 4 times a week and I am not using any oil (all these was advised by my doctor but I dont think its right) I think it may be some fungal infection or some other disease which is causing so much flaking off of my scalp skin and causing dandruff please guide me...... I am getting bald at the age of 20!
Avatar f tn m going off of what I vaguely remember lol. There are 3 causes for dandruff dry scalp, oily scalp, and a fungus. The condition of your scalp is what is going to tell u which treatment to use. One remedy is ad easy as shampooing everyday and using less conditioner on your scalp. You should also try using a clarifying shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info! I have tried some of the shampoos with salicylic acid or coal tar - all it did was make my scalp worse- sort of firery sore and super itchy. that's why I think its dry scalp and not dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis - the symptoms just don't fit. my hair and scalp are dry, not greasy - even if i go 3 days between shampoos my hair is not greasy. the flakes are small and white and not oily.
Avatar n tn s happening to me as well, I have flaky stuff around my hairline and scalp, and through my hair. Avatar n tn i recently had some really bad scalp problems . i had patch testing and found out i was allergic to hair dyes. the doctor has prescribed me olux, and several corticsteroids. i was also prescribed derma smooth. it says it is for psoriasis. it worked for a couple of weeks. but once i stopped using it i started getting the same problem. now they have me on another corticsteroid in drops. i just keep using them. that might be what you have to do because it seems that you have sebhorric dermatitis.

2078979 tn?1332206668 Ive and what I thought was dadruff most of my life but I found out that dandruff is actually a scalp condition that is caused by a natural bacteria that grows on ur scalp and u can use oils like tea tree, and eucaliptus to kill it and calm/get rid of dadruff. But u could just have dry scalp which is different. Try drinking more water (even tho we all have to pee more we still need drink lots...
Avatar m tn dry parts on my head that I can feel and scrape off which leaves dead skin cells on my finger tips, therefore I know my scalp is dry. However, head and shoulders and other anti dandruff shampoos have done nothing at all to stop the itch. The only thing that worked was last year when I got a prescription Allegra D. The antihistimine must have stopped the itching for the time being but it did not solve the problem. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
446049 tn?1649005835 t have too many problems other than causing skin irritation, pimples, and things like that. Orally, it can be liver toxic, but you're not taking it orally. You might find success with gentler products that are more natural, but then again, you might not. You might experiment if you're interested and if they don't work, you can return to this medication. If the flaking stops, stop using the shampoo and see what happens.
1885931 tn?1371771436 Yeah. Its ur hormone levels. You cant do much about it. Just use dandruff shampoo..

Avatar n tn Some sort of vitamin deficiency? The rest of my skin (other than face and scalp) is pretty dry, too. I have had my thyroid checked, but never had vitamin levels checked. Any advice? I am so tired of being embarassed.
Avatar n tn http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/understanding-dandruff-treatment)If these do not help, you may need stronger prescription shampoo from your doctor. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn I have noticed that I seem to have scaly skin on my scalp, even though I wash regularly and even use dandruff shampoo, the scales come right back. I don't have dandruff. But I can always gently scrape and lift scaly skin off of my scalp. Honestly, my scalp has always been scaly, but this is the first time I've ever experienced actual hair loss. Growing up and into my early 30's my hair was always extremely thick, but now....well, as I said.
Avatar m tn I also have a dry-skin problem on my face and my doctor gave me Ketoconazole cream which helped, but the same cream does not remedy my scalp problems. Even with lotion on the dry spots in my scalp they still appear. Any help?
Avatar f tn I've had the same problem, I use Moroccan hair oil on my scalp and it helps.
876805 tn?1240185863 s pretty much for scalp issues such as oily scalp, dry scalp dandruff, psoriasis..) and then this conditioner called american classic tea tree conditioner.. it's absolutely amazing, the first time i used it i could FEEL the difference, it was like such a relief to my scalp. The first one whatever is in it soothes my scalp and then the tea tree oil does something else that helps, no idea what but it feels so much better. Hope that helps a little bit!!
Avatar f tn You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help. The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription). If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
Avatar f tn ve experienced extremely dry and flaky scalp. Can you look at these photos and tell me what it is? Dry scalp, dandruff, scalp psoriasis, or seborrheic dermatitis. The bad part is, I just washed my hair on Monday night. I washed it, conditioned it, put a little of olive oil (food-grade), then I braided my hair in about 8 plaits. I have to wash my hair every week b/c of my scalp. I'm unable to wear twist-outs/braid-outs or any hairstyle that requires me to wear my hair out.
Avatar f tn I have to constantly lotion and my face is always peeling.
Avatar m tn I also noticed that sometimes when pulling my hair back, I would feel a bit of pain from what felt like individual hairs which never happened before. Dandruff and dry skin on the scalp also began showing up which was very rare for me. As or now, it feels and looks like I have lost about 50 % of hair volume mostly in the front as well as had my hairline recede at least within 2 months.
Avatar n tn All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out. Dandruff shampoo should be used every few days, and you may need to try several shampoos before you find one which works.
Avatar f tn i always thought it was only a few red bumps it will go away , but recently, my sister was playing with my hair when she told me that i have red bumps, many many red bumps all over my scalp. i am a girl and i am embarrassed and afraid. could it be some kind of disease that could never be cured? please tell me what to do. i also have damaged hair and dandruff, is it because of them?
