Cymbalta weight neutral

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta weight neutral

cymbalta

Avatar f tn I took Cymbalta for two years and I found it to be weight neutral - no weight gain. Your weight problems are more likely because of your thyroid than Cymbalta.
Avatar f tn Hopefully someone will be able to help me with this. I've been on celexa for about 3 months started at 20mg now at 40 mg. I have been seeing a lot of benefits. However I used to be on cymbalta and no matter how much I went to the gym I couldn't lose weight. I am fixing to start working out again and trying to eat healthier. Does anyone know if celexa hinders weight loss with proper diet and exercise.
Avatar f tn In the literature of many medications, you will read that studies show it to be weight neutral meaning that as many people on it gained weight as lost weight. But then you HEAR about weight gain because those are the people that are generally upset. Those are the anecdotal stories that then make everyone feel a certain drug will definitely cause weight gain while there are many people who take it that have no weight changes.
Avatar f tn Is weight gain the norm for Cymbalta? I excercise regularly, watch my diet and still am not able to loose anything. It is very frustrating. I am on thyroid, but have it checked regularly, am a breast cancer survivor, take fosamax, and prescription Vit. D. Could any of that be associated with being unable to loose weight?
Avatar m tn Yes, I am gaining weight on Cymbalta and dont understand either. I am waiting to see what the dr. replies. I exercise 5 days a week for an hour and a half and havent lost an ounce.
Avatar n tn I have heard rumors that so many anti-anxiety/anti-depressenants can do that.. but i also heard cymbalta usually does not cause weight gain. Did anyone have an experience where they still where able to lose weight on cymbalta? I dont understand why not, considering if you decrease your daily calorie intake and exercise the weight should technically be able to come off. I really hope this is this case because i am so dedicated to losing these few extra pounds haha.
Avatar f tn I was supposed to start on 10 mg of Abilify, but my doctor decided to start me at 5 mg at night with the Cymbalta and Valium. I haven't noticed any changes except for extreme tiredness. I can't seem to get enough sleep. I know that the Abilify causes you to be sleepy, but most of the medications do that until they get in your system. I'm sure my doctor will increase the Abilify in the next two weeks.
Avatar f tn Cymbalta, Ozempic, and Leflunomide. This combo gave me the most relief I have ever had. But she also had been making charting/medical record inaccuracies for years. Literal. Years. SO MANY THINGS she charted as diagnosed with no supporting evidence or even telling me. Then she made several errors in ordering lab work for me. I had to go have blood drawn 3 times in 2 weeks for the things she said she wanted to look at...AFTER I called 6 times trying to straighten it all out.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Cymbalta and Xanax at the same time for more than a year. In fact, I lost almost 30 lbs. Don't think negative. I think it depends. Some gain and sone lose weight...not sure why... Thanks!
Avatar f tn i have not had any weight gain. Some meds can make you gain weight. Though I think meds act differently on different people. So probably the only way to figure out if it will work for you is to try it out for 6 weeks. That's what my doctor told me to do. Warning about it though... at higher doses, it can make you feel kind of foggy and loopy. Well, some people it can. So the dosage level varies by person as well.
Avatar f tn hi, thanks. today was a little better , I was quite chatty and hyper today but instead of being upset about it and letting it make me anxious (knowing that it isn't normal behavior) i just rolled with it and actually enjoyed it. it felt good to be so interactive and free with my thoughts . i've been depressed and anxious for about 5 years and on the meds for the last 3 years.
Avatar n tn Can anyone tell me what kind of side affects they have experienced with cymbalta?
Avatar f tn I have yet seen any horrible side effects, I have gained weight but that is more than likely due to the lithium I take. Cymbalta is expensive, and a lot of insurance companies won't cover it, so make sure to call your insurance company to see how much of it they will cover.
Avatar f tn Weight gain is one potential side effect of Cymbalta but it would also depend on your other medications and if they have this side effect as well. It would be worthwhile to speak to your psychiatrist about this and they could see how to adjust and/or change your medications as needed and also how this specific side effect could be addressed.
Avatar f tn Lamictal is in a completely different drug class than Abilify, and tends to be very weight neutral. All of the atypical antipsychotics, like Abilify, can cause weight gain, although some are less likely to. That drug class is known for it. Lamictal is an anticonvulsant, and a lot of those (except for depakote) are weight neutral. I don't think you have anything to worry about in the weight department. Make sure to take your Lamictal exactly as prescribed.
Avatar f tn I was put on Cymbalta 30mg for a week then upgraded to 60mg after that about 3 weeks ago for my extream anxiety and depression. I have drop at least 10+ lbs due to not having a normal appetite. I'm a bit over weight so it's definitely making me feel better that I've lost the weight. I'm just worried that it isn't healthy at all. Is this a normal effect of Cymbalta? Should I be worried? Should I contact my doctor? Thank you in advance!
1756969 tn?1332437163 the eating disorder is under control but i have a huge fear of any medication that will cause weight gain and an increased appetite. any suggestions?? i heard cymbalta is good! help!
Avatar n tn I have gained alot of weight taking cymbalta. Is there any way to lose weight while on this medication. I exercise daily and watch what I eat but it has not helped.
Avatar f tn I was on Cymbalta for several (approx. 6-7) months about 2 yrs ago. I never had any weight gain but also never found any pain relief. Like any AD, Cymbalta was tough to come off of....because it is an SSNRI, I found it to be more difficult. However, because it was a capsule with the little "balls" in it, it was easy to taper down as I was instructed to open the capsules and remove "x" amount of "balls" each day by my doctor.
Avatar f tn The paroxitine is an SSRI and the weight gain can be a side effect. I just looked on the web for a statistic and it said about 25 percent of people experience weight gain. As with any medication, it should never be stopped suddenly. These medications need to be tapered down slowly so that you don't experience side effects. The best thing to do is to talk to your doctor as soon as you can and tell him/her that you have stopped taking it.
Avatar f tn Hello there, How long have you been taking Prozac? However it is often reported that people have less emotions and feeling neutral while on this drug so what you are experiencing is normal. If you really don't like your current state you can talk to your doctor about trying a SNRI rather than your current SSRI. It might give you a boost due to the norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor action.
Avatar f tn m so sick of feeling like a lab rat! I also worry about weight gain...I am already aware that people say Lyrica causes weight gain which of course I know if the med works it will be one of those things where you choose alleviation from pain vs weight gain. Hope all of you are having a somewhat pain free day...I hope to say the same for myself in the future!
Avatar n tn Yes it is true that Cymbalta helps with pain, it is often used to help people coming off strong painkillers, I don't know the full details though. It sounds like you have been prescribed the anti depressants to help with the anxiety, as they treat both.
