cymbalta

Avatar m tn Yes, I am gaining weight on Cymbalta and dont understand either. I am waiting to see what the dr. replies. I exercise 5 days a week for an hour and a half and havent lost an ounce.
Avatar f tn Is weight gain the norm for Cymbalta? I excercise regularly, watch my diet and still am not able to loose anything. It is very frustrating. I am on thyroid, but have it checked regularly, am a breast cancer survivor, take fosamax, and prescription Vit. D. Could any of that be associated with being unable to loose weight?
Avatar f tn Ive been on so many things over the years and they just stop working. Any side effects on the Cymbalta? Pristique didnt work for me at all.
1756969 tn?1332437163 i need to find something else to help alleviate my depression soon. I also have issues with weight gain and an eating disorder. the eating disorder is under control but i have a huge fear of any medication that will cause weight gain and an increased appetite. any suggestions?? i heard cymbalta is good! help!
Avatar f tn i have not had any weight gain. Some meds can make you gain weight. Though I think meds act differently on different people. So probably the only way to figure out if it will work for you is to try it out for 6 weeks. That's what my doctor told me to do. Warning about it though... at higher doses, it can make you feel kind of foggy and loopy. Well, some people it can. So the dosage level varies by person as well.
407790 tn?1397761026 Thanks so much for answering. Yes, it is meant to help my ADs work better. I'm on Cymbalta (30 mg) and Wellbutrin (300 mg.) I also take Lamictal (200 mg) and Topamax (200 mg), the latter mostly to help me lose the weight I gained on Pristiq (I quit that a month ago and started taking Cymbalta instead.) I also take Adderall because I have narcolepsy. I know, quite a cocktail. I have been on just about every AD there is for the past 20 years.
Avatar f tn The paroxitine is an SSRI and the weight gain can be a side effect. I just looked on the web for a statistic and it said about 25 percent of people experience weight gain. As with any medication, it should never be stopped suddenly. These medications need to be tapered down slowly so that you don't experience side effects. The best thing to do is to talk to your doctor as soon as you can and tell him/her that you have stopped taking it.
Avatar f tn I was on Zoloft and seemed to gain some weight so i went back to Cymbalta and its right for me.... everyone is different though so I give u the advice to keep trying until you find one thats for you.... im only 24 years old and due to guys screwing me over and depression running in my family ...
Avatar n tn For all it is worth, since I starting Cymbalta 6 months ago, I have gained 30 lbs., and I do not think the weight gain has stopped. I exercise, have tried paid diet programs and so far nothing has helped. The only time I have seen my weight at least stabilize is when I do not eat anything at all. I have been on just about every antidepressant out there and Cymbalta seems to be the only one that has helped my depression and anxiety. Therefore, I am screwed either way....
Avatar f tn Hello what is your diagnosis if you don't mind me asking? I am on Seroquel XR 300mg aswell as Depakote for Bipolar Disorder. I do know that seroquel is used for depression also. Before I was diagnosed they said I had major depressive disorder with pyschotic features and was given Bipolar type meds.. I wonder if this is the case for you..just wondering?
5377229 tn?1367102940 It is safe to take tylenol and other head ache meds while coming off Cymbalta and Abilify. Yes, it is difficult that most psychiatric medications cause weight gain. It isn't the psychiatrist's fault. There just aren't many options available that don't cause weight problems. The only thing you can do is diet and exercise while taking the medications. I gained over the years I have been on psychotrophic drugs and now I am getting it under control.
Avatar f tn Weight gain is one potential side effect of Cymbalta but it would also depend on your other medications and if they have this side effect as well. It would be worthwhile to speak to your psychiatrist about this and they could see how to adjust and/or change your medications as needed and also how this specific side effect could be addressed.
Avatar n tn Hello, I havne't been on any antidepressant because I'm so afraid of the weight gain. I tried Wellbutrin, but even at 50mg, my heart was racing and I couldn't sleep. I'm reading a little about Cymbalta. Does it make you gain weight? I'd love to hear about your experiences with meds and weight gain.
Avatar f tn m so sick of feeling like a lab rat! I also worry about weight gain...I am already aware that people say Lyrica causes weight gain which of course I know if the med works it will be one of those things where you choose alleviation from pain vs weight gain. Hope all of you are having a somewhat pain free day...I hope to say the same for myself in the future!
Avatar f tn I've been struggling with depression and anxiety for awhile, I'm on cymbalta but since starting it I keep gaining weight and I don't sleep at all. Is there any vitamins or other drugs that will help me sleep, not gain weight and decrease depression and anxiety? My friend suggested b3. But I'm unsure.
Avatar f tn I took Cymbalta for two years and I found it to be weight neutral - no weight gain. Your weight problems are more likely because of your thyroid than Cymbalta.
Avatar n tn I have heard rumors that so many anti-anxiety/anti-depressenants can do that.. but i also heard cymbalta usually does not cause weight gain. Did anyone have an experience where they still where able to lose weight on cymbalta? I dont understand why not, considering if you decrease your daily calorie intake and exercise the weight should technically be able to come off. I really hope this is this case because i am so dedicated to losing these few extra pounds haha.
763297 tn?1281379425 I have done research about the side effects from taking Paxil but their website says weight gain is a possibility and mentions nothing about the loss of energy. I feel like I cannot accomplish anything because of all the sleep I require. Im 24 and I went from a size 1 to a size 7. I have decided against my doctor's wishes to stop taking this medication. I am wheaning myself off slowly because of the horrible withdrawl sysmptoms such as severe dizziness and nausea.
Avatar n tn I suggest paxil it works wonders for me i do gain weight though.
Avatar f tn Lamictal can sometimes be more helpful on depression than mania but also is less likely to cause weight gain and sedation than Depakoate but again this is an individual reaction. As for pregnancy there is a concern listed and that should be discussed directly with a doctor and if any of these medications are being used to control seizures as well any change in medication or adjustment in dosage should be discussed directly with a neurologist.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have most anti-depressants cause weight gain unfortunately. I have had to choose between depression and weight gain. Difficult to advise you, but you don't want to suffer depression do you? I stopped Effexor because of weight gain, but after 12 months the depression came back so badly, I had to go on it again. Slowly gaining weight. Doctors always tell you what you want to hear. Difficult for you. Let us know how you get on.
