Avatar n tn Are there any known side effects for Shen Calmer and Liver Happy Capsules? My dog has been taking them for about a week now. He is taking them for anxiety, no signs of relief yet, but no prescriptions have helped him so this is our last resort. The second day he vomited and the vet said she hadn't ever seen that so we have kept going.
Avatar f tn Triamcinolone is a steroid which does have side effects, vomiting being a very common one. San Ren Tang is an herb with only anecdotal info on it's effectiveness. It is generally used for digestive issues (constipation, diarrhea, bloating, etc. Have you gotten back to your vet to tell him about the vomiting? He may be able to prescribe a different steroid or change the dosage to alleviate the vomiting or prescribe an additional medication/diet to alleviate the vomiting.
Avatar m tn Hi there, Weight gain, fluid retention, mood swings, increased blood pressure and osteoporosis are few side effects of steroids. Cyclosporine may cause muscle pain, joint pains, heartburn etc. These two drugs form the mainstay of treatment. These side effects may gradually ware off. A low-salt diet and diuretics may help with swelling in the hands and legs. Low-protein diets may be helpful.
1732853 tn?1366758928 Like most immunosuppressants, the side effects can be pretty severe. I am pretty sure that my diabetes is directly connected to my immunosuppressive use and I also have elevated creatinine levels which long term will be problematic. It is not unusual for long term cyclosporine users to have renal failure. Biggest side effect I've noticed is body hair growth- my has been very noticable on my arms, legs, chest, and back.
Avatar f tn The side effects of these medicines are to be taken into consideration and they are prescribed only when benefits seem more than the side effects.Side effects of cyclosporine include nephro(kidney) toxicity, infections, high BP,seizures,endocrine/metabolic conditions and lymphomas. You are right in saying that the incidence of allergies are rising day be day.
1394098 tn?1385960134 I'm finishing week 42 of a 48 week tx. Do sx get worse the longer you are on tx. In the last few weeks, I've forgotten more, ate less, and am tired all of the time. The fatigue is the worst thing. I sleep all of the time. It's hard for the husband because he is alone all the time. Heck even my cats wait outside my door. I don't let them in often because I want to sleep and they want love. I give them a lot when I'm up.
Avatar m tn 1 mg/kg, 78% of patients attained complete remission. Side effects were generally mild and seen in 35% of patients; all were reversible by dose reduction. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
874521 tn?1424116797 I don't feel comfortable repeating the injection of Depo more often than every three months. I explained this to a client years ago and gave them other options, but due to inability to give pills by mouth, they chose the injection and the patient developed diabetes soon later. What hypoallergenic food are you using? Some work better than others. Eosinophilic granuloma complex is a recurring problem that is related to allergies.
Avatar m tn I think Twobitsmom has hit this on the head. Shih Tzus are one of the breeds in which many individuals are affected with dry eye. The thick, ropy mucus you are describing is the first thing that usually alerts owners to the problem. The vet can do a Schirmer Tear Test, an easy, painless, inexpensive test that can tell him in about two minutes if this is what is affecting your dog.
Avatar m tn I lowered the dose to 300mg once daily but just recently raised it back to 300x 3 daily because right side discomfort an increase in bilirubin. My headaches and fluid in ears have gotten better, still have the vision issues but heart palpitations have also lessened. Is there a correlation between taking less ursodiol and my through cyclosporine levels slightly decreasing? Could my lower cyclosporine levels have contributed to the lessening of my symptoms?
Avatar n tn And I can no longer pet my cats which feels like my hands have been in fiberglass. My bones are so sensitive that it hurts to even sit on a soft chair. It has been a terrible experience which I regret.
Avatar n tn It was a Adenoma...It ruptured in Dec 09..I was in ICU for 3 weeks..when this first happened They did three Embolizations..Then finally in May of this year they had to remove it..I just wasnt sure if all this was normal..Funny they have no idea what might have caused this tumor..they were thinking birth control..But I wasnt on it for years..but they still told me to stay away from any OCP..
Avatar f tn They usually require immunosuppression and medications such as prednisone and cyclosporine may be given. There has been several studies already which have shown effectiveness in using cyclosporine in the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria, who fail to respond to conventional therapy (ref: http://www.e-ijd.org/article.asp?issn=0019-5154;year=2008;volume=53;issue=2;spage=101;epage=102;aulast=Godse).
Avatar f tn It was great, it even allowed me to travel to Europe. The cyclosporine I was taking was a powder in a capsule, apparently this has been taken off the market and instead I took the same medication, but it was in the form of a capsule with alcohol. Unfortunately, after a short time, I was right back to before treatment. And have been avoiding culprit foods ever since.
1054753 tn?1339968724 Before the development of cyclosporine in the 1980s there were few effective immune suppression medications and most organ transplant recipients died of complications of rejection (1 year survival in those days was around 30% for liver transplant).
Avatar m tn I know that you said that your dog has been on cyclosporine in the past for the treatment of KCS, however has she ever used a product called 'Optimmune"? It's a preparation that contains cyclosporine but it's different from the cyclosporine drops. When eyedrop preparations to treat KCS are made up, they have stabilizers put in so that they don't lose their potency too quickly before the whole preparation can be used.

Avatar n tn what is the half life of oxycodone in cats? I've heard it works well for pain in cats. I'm trying to get more information on what may help my 12 year old cat. I'd like to have my questions in order before I pay my/her vet?
Avatar m tn “We have almost three decades worth of experience in cyclosporine chemistry. Drawing upon this experience in structure-activity relationships, we have learned that relatively small and selective changes to the chemical structure of the cyclosporine backbone can have very dramatic consequences in pharmacology,” commented Dr. Foster.
372900 tn?1315512302 Well, I have two cats, right? One of them experienced side effects to flea treatment. The other one was fine all the time. Side effects: Redness, itchy skin, and hair loss. The third month everything was fine. But he did experience side effects. The product is Revolution, but it works beautifully!
Avatar m tn Well, for starters I suggest you study the list of side effects for cyclosporine to see if those help explain your symptoms. Physical fitness is something I urge you to work on improving so far as readily managed, even if it seems bothersome. Your eating / lowered blood pressure suggest to me you could try reducing your meal sizes (perhaps increase the number of meals/day if you're at a healthy weight).
