Avatar m tn I am still on 100 mg 2x daily cyclosporine. My cyclosporine through levels have been lower, the last time they were at 79. I Have been on 300 mg ursodiol 3x daily for biliary stricture since tx. I lowered the dose to 300mg once daily but just recently raised it back to 300x 3 daily because right side discomfort an increase in bilirubin. My headaches and fluid in ears have gotten better, still have the vision issues but heart palpitations have also lessened.
Avatar n tn He only gets 1/4 of a 500 mg pill twice a week and he has already dropped the weight and eats less and doesnt drink quite as much. One morning he had green gunk in one of his eyes and it was stuck together. I held him with a warm wet cloth over it and then it seemed OK. But his eyes had a "greenish shine" to them, so I took him to the vet, afraid he had a sudden case of SARDS. She said no, tested him for dry eye and gave me Cyclosporine drops.
Avatar m tn My last cyclosporine through level was 76. My doctors are going to lower cyclo from 100 mg twice daily to 75 mg twice daily . I thought they would lower it gradually 100 mg day 75 mg night. then after sometime and blood work go to 75mg twice daily if every thing checked out. I am scared to lower my rejection meds. I have never had any rejection. Should i be trying to lower my rejection meds with a through level of 76? do you have any patients on rapa? Does rapa affect bile flow? Thank you Dr.
Avatar f tn About 6 months ago, I was finally diagnosed and started taking cyclosporine 100 mg 2x day. After a week, I could eat like a normal person—just about anything I wanted. It was great, it even allowed me to travel to Europe. The cyclosporine I was taking was a powder in a capsule, apparently this has been taken off the market and instead I took the same medication, but it was in the form of a capsule with alcohol. Unfortunately, after a short time, I was right back to before treatment.
Avatar m tn I know that you said that your dog has been on cyclosporine in the past for the treatment of KCS, however has she ever used a product called 'Optimmune"? It's a preparation that contains cyclosporine but it's different from the cyclosporine drops. When eyedrop preparations to treat KCS are made up, they have stabilizers put in so that they don't lose their potency too quickly before the whole preparation can be used.
1627010 tn?1299446388 You can check and see if your vet has any Cyclosporine or if he can write you a script for it.It makes the eye produce more tears.I use it for my peke and he has been on it for years .It is really a good med.and since your baby is use to getting meds in her eyes i am sure she will be fine with it.You can also have it compounded into drops if drops are better then the ointment.I use the compounded drops it seems to last longer than the other.I put 2 drops in twice a day.
Avatar f tn for humans. Restasis is way more expensive and not the proper strength for dogs. My vet advised against it. Dog will need to be on medicine for rest of its life, it's a degenerative disease.
Avatar n tn How iron clad is the expiration date for cyclosporine eye drops for dogs?
Avatar n tn I was switched to cyclosporine and Myfortic. When the Incivek was started my cyclosporine was dropped to 25 mg once per day due to their interaction. Due to my previous non-response and to the multiple variations of the HCV I carry my odds were considered to be about 30%, maybe 40% at best. At the end of week 4 the HCV RNA was not detectable. The only additional side effect is that the anemia came quicker this time. I will start Procrit injections probably sometime this week.
Avatar n tn First of all, you want to stay away from products like Artificial Tears and other over-the-counter eye lubricants, because these products contain a form of soap as a stabilizer, and while they are fine for occasional use in normal eyes that just happen to be in a temporarily drying condition, for the lifelong treatment that will be needed for dry eye, the soap stabilizer will be too irritating. There are special preparations that contain cyclosporine that are used to treat KCS.
Avatar m tn According to a study done, after taking cyclosporine for chronic urticaria at an average dose of 1.8 ± 1.1 mg/kg, 78% of patients attained complete remission. Side effects were generally mild and seen in 35% of patients; all were reversible by dose reduction. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Yes I took Cyclosporine for my aquagenic urticaria, it helped so much but not enough to have a normal life :S but maybe for you its going to be different...
1758616 tn?1326912710 I'm taking 100 mg Zoloft daily for Major depression.. Been on it for 8 weeks and feel much better,, my question is,, Will I feel even better if I ask my dr about increasing the dose??
Avatar f tn The virus was back right away with a vengeance and my enzymes were soaring so I was started on regular interferon which I injected 3 million IU 3 X per week. I also took ribavirin and I believe the dose was 400 or 600 hundred mg per day. My second treatment I was taking Peg-Intron at the right dose 1 X per week and 600 or 800 mg of ribavirin per day. I cleared during this treatment but not until maybe week 30 and stopped at week 53. I relapsed within 2.5 weeks.
Avatar n tn As far as I'm aware, benadry is safe for quite a long time in dogs. The general doggy dosage is 1 mg/ per pound, so that's what your vet has prescribed - most people tend to go too low on the dosage. Using it for only the summer months should be no problem at all. I had a dog who needed it a good 8 months or more of every year and it never caused any trouble. Hope it works well for your Bostie!
Avatar n tn As a result he daily takes 75mg Deramaxx, 2 Glucosamine tablets, 50mg Tramadol, and 100mg Atopica (cyclosporine) with 200mg ketoconazole for an anal fistula problem. He had a yearly checkup 3 weeks ago. Bloodtest, wellness testing, vaccines, nails trimmed. They trimmed one nail too short, it bled alot, but they put a clotting agent on it. All blood levels were fine.
1711940 tn?1308352692 my 24 lb **** tzu/ beagle mix has his own prescription for xanax .5 mg for thunderstorm anxiety. it was prescribed by his cardiologist and his regular vet doses have to be 12 hrs apart as needed...
Avatar n tn It is 1.4 mg per pound once a day for pain. If you are questioning it being too much I would call back your vet (or if you feel funny- call a different vet) and ask. While you have them on the phone ask them about what to watch for as far as side effects go. I gave my Koenig the liquid form twice daily and it worked great for him during his last year as far as pain. Best of wishes.

Avatar n tn The vet prescribed doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 3 weeks. My dog seems fine without any obvious symptoms. Can we just give him the doxycycline 100mg once a day instead because the medication may cause nausea/vomiting. Also after 3 weeks medication, how do you he is treated ? Any advice !
1732853 tn?1366758928 I'm on Cyclosporine following my liver transplant a year ago. What did you want to know about it?
Avatar n tn m taking trazadone 50 mg, but I weight over 230 pounds. I know 100 mg may be too much for me, just this tells me any animal under 20 pounds would OD on 50 mg. Hope this wasn't a guess at home remedy. If it was, Please Stop doing that.

307874 tn?1242755798 The neuro PA put me on Amanadine 100 mg. It seems to be helping with the fatigue. I hope it will continue to do so. I got to not even want to type. My poor dogs was not getting bathed and brushed. I bathed them the 2 day on it. Yay.
Avatar n tn Having worked for a vet dermatologist for years I can tell you that first off dogs cannot get poison ivy they are not affected by the oils but can transmit them to humans. Whenever I hear someone say hives or rash in a dog I chuckle because dogs don't get that either what you ARE seeing is bacterial infection of the skin which means you pup needs to see a vet asap and get some antibiotics to systemically clear things up. Finding the underlying cause is another issue to discuss.
