restasis

Avatar m tn I know that you said that your dog has been on cyclosporine in the past for the treatment of KCS, however has she ever used a product called 'Optimmune"? It's a preparation that contains cyclosporine but it's different from the cyclosporine drops. When eyedrop preparations to treat KCS are made up, they have stabilizers put in so that they don't lose their potency too quickly before the whole preparation can be used.
1627010 tn?1299446388 You can check and see if your vet has any Cyclosporine or if he can write you a script for it.It makes the eye produce more tears.I use it for my peke and he has been on it for years .It is really a good med.and since your baby is use to getting meds in her eyes i am sure she will be fine with it.You can also have it compounded into drops if drops are better then the ointment.I use the compounded drops it seems to last longer than the other.I put 2 drops in twice a day.
Avatar n tn to them, so I took him to the vet, afraid he had a sudden case of SARDS. She said no, tested him for dry eye and gave me Cyclosporine drops. I have an appointment with an opthmologist who comes to our town once a month on April 2, but now he seems totally blind. Has anyone else dealt with this? Is there any hope for his eyesight? Surgery?? Thanks to anyone who can respond!
Avatar f tn for humans. Restasis is way more expensive and not the proper strength for dogs. My vet advised against it. Dog will need to be on medicine for rest of its life, it's a degenerative disease.
Avatar n tn How iron clad is the expiration date for cyclosporine eye drops for dogs?
Avatar n tn First of all, you want to stay away from products like Artificial Tears and other over-the-counter eye lubricants, because these products contain a form of soap as a stabilizer, and while they are fine for occasional use in normal eyes that just happen to be in a temporarily drying condition, for the lifelong treatment that will be needed for dry eye, the soap stabilizer will be too irritating. There are special preparations that contain cyclosporine that are used to treat KCS.
Avatar n tn You can ask your vet to prescribe an antibiotic like cephalexin and an antifungal like fluconazole both which can be called into a walmart in your area and they are on the $4 generic list so it keeps cost down. As for itching they can have antihistamines WITHOUT DECONGESTANTS in them.
Avatar f tn Yes I took Cyclosporine for my aquagenic urticaria, it helped so much but not enough to have a normal life :S but maybe for you its going to be different...
Avatar f tn Hi, I would like to know why you started taking cyclosporine when it is not the first drug that should be taken for collagenous colitis. Simple antidiarrheals like loperamide or diphenoxylate are to be taken initially for control of symptoms. If there is no response then other medications like mesalamine, budesonide, immunosuppressants may be tried.
Avatar f tn s previous medical records that I like to have titers ran first, before I vaccinate my dogs for other diseases. He told me that I was wise and explained to me that, because of the research and his own personal testing on this, he has started to recommend to patients to check their pet's titer first to make sure that they don't need an unnecessary vaccination. I can only tell you that every time I've done this, my pet's titers were always within normal range.
Avatar m tn Could taking less ursodiol have contributed to my diminishing symptoms. What would be the lest acceptable through cyclosporine level for a patient on mono -therapy four and one half years post transplant with no episodes of rejection? Thank you so very much Dr.
Avatar n tn As a result he daily takes 75mg Deramaxx, 2 Glucosamine tablets, 50mg Tramadol, and 100mg Atopica (cyclosporine) with 200mg ketoconazole for an anal fistula problem. He had a yearly checkup 3 weeks ago. Bloodtest, wellness testing, vaccines, nails trimmed. They trimmed one nail too short, it bled alot, but they put a clotting agent on it. All blood levels were fine.

1732853 tn?1366758928 I'm on Cyclosporine following my liver transplant a year ago. What did you want to know about it?
Avatar m tn I have gotten my dog cold laser therapy for her allergies and auto immune disease. I've also seen it done on dogs for hip dysplasia and arthritis, epilepsy, other allergy dogs, and on dogs post surgery to speed up healing. On every other dog that I either witnessed personally or read the testimonies of (which were about 20 in all) it worked moderate to very well. In my dog, it did not work. She had 4 weeks of treatment. I felt the laser myself and it feels like nothing at all.
Avatar n tn Having worked for a vet dermatologist for years I can tell you that first off dogs cannot get poison ivy they are not affected by the oils but can transmit them to humans. Whenever I hear someone say hives or rash in a dog I chuckle because dogs don't get that either what you ARE seeing is bacterial infection of the skin which means you pup needs to see a vet asap and get some antibiotics to systemically clear things up. Finding the underlying cause is another issue to discuss.
Avatar n tn Eventually that stopped working. I now take 2 cyclosporine daily with 4 of medrol every other day. Medrol dose packs are used for exacerbations, but they are less and less since I started cyclosporine. There is also a new medication based on a humanized mouse anti-body that works for a lot of people with asthma and chronic hives and angioedema. (xolair....they company helps pay the cost, just apply....
Avatar m tn Close to five years post liver transplant. No rejections, cyclosporine mono -therapy .Also take 300 mg ursodiol 3x daily for bile duct stricture. Vascular hyper-tensions are becoming a real concern. ie heart, palpitations . fluid in ears , vision problems that aren't related to my actual eyes, the opthamologist confirmed, Migraines that have actually gotten better lately. kidney function is still adequate. My liver is doing very good especially with hep-c..
Avatar m tn The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus. She also said that because our dog doesn't have a dry, goopy nose, that pilocarpine wouldn't be a first choice. She recommended a mix of tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said sirolimus is new. I have not been able to find anything about this drug on the internet.
97615 tn?1212678589 I would drive as far as needed to get the RIGHT home for any of my rescues. It was well worth it. There was a cost (I had no control over that part). I was the one that went to the Animal Control and had to choose which ones would not die that day. I took them home and had ALL spayed and neutered, all shots and treatments (if needed) were all given. They all got homes that I would have loved to have lived in myself. I had 13 cats, kittens, puppies and dogs all at one time. ALL BY MYSELF.
Avatar f tn WARNING - I was on cyclosporine for 6 months in the year before the study. When I came off of it, I was sick to my stomach every day for two years. I now have three food intolerances, one of which is in EVERYTHING. This medicine ruined my ability to process certain foods, and I now have to follow a very special, strict, and EXPENSIVE diet. As if the CAU weren't enough!
Avatar f tn Hi ! Wow... I had no idea that cyclosporine has been prescribed for various autoimmune diseases and even allergies ! I think it is a shame that many of these wonderful drugs (steriods... Valcyte.... cyclosporine) are immunosuppressants and can have terrible side effects. I'm happy to hear that researchers are working hard to find cures for these conditions and that they are concerned about the rising numbers of people who have these autoimmune problems.
612551 tn?1450022175 Thanks, seems to be the going rate then. I am about 50 miles from NYC, so not directly influenced by those prices. I am in a rural, but somewhat affluent community. The price range I got was $348 to 380, the variable for any needed follow up antibiotics. My vet is very good about itemizing the offer: Fluid IV at $44 and Inhalant anesthesia at $84 X-rays, 2 views at $55 and the work itself at $125...
6669309 tn?1462648142 Yes all dogs love to stop and sniff! But look on the bright side...it's not as bad as walking a CAT!! lol! Tony's idea of having Rusty beside you more as you walk, and keeping the movement going -is quite a good one. That doesn't mean he gets no 'sniff and mark' time, but just that you get moving more, I think. Are there any woods, fields, large grassy areas where he can play frisbee or fetch games? Would he come back to you immediately if whistled or called?
