Cyclobenzaprine compared to soma

Common Questions and Answers about Cyclobenzaprine compared to soma

flexeril

Avatar n tn They are similar to soma - not as strong - flexeril is cyclobenzaprine (check spell)and soma is carisprodol.......
Avatar n tn Out of the muscle relaxant category of pharmaceuticals, such as cyclobenzaprine, mthocarbamol, barclofen, etc. carisoprodol is said to be the most likely to be abused. I have never heard of a soma patch it obviously it does exist. A patch might be little eess likely to be abused since you cant keep taking more and more pills and ti can be controlled as far as the drugs release into the body from the patch.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your quick response to my question. What would these drugs do to interfere with the outcome?
Avatar m tn Like most I have always had general back pain I had several surgeries a few years ago where I was in the hospital 2 weeks with gallstones that dissolved and part of the sludge entered my pancreas that ate a hole through it causing 10 litters of fluid to build up behind my lungs. They basically cut me sternum to spine that & used a rib splitter. it causes pain under my breast still. Then last year was in a car accident that caused bulging discs to hit nerves in my lumbar and cervical.
676302 tn?1237863491 In my experience I have found Soma to be helpful as well as Skelaxin. I would have a talk with your doctor and see what he/she suggests. Good luck to you.
475300 tn?1312423126 I have had muscle and joint pain for at least 8 - 10 years and my Doc always gave me Soma and upon occasion Vicodan. I preferr not to take Vicodan due to the effects on the liver. Now I take Soma and Foirocet (tylenol again) which usually does not touch the pain. A Rheumatoligist diagnosed my Fibro. I am afraid (as are most) to ask for something else as I take all of my soma ect and need another script when the time is due.
Avatar f tn Have been taking 1 soma every night for at least the past 2 months, after back surgeon gave it following fusion 7 months ago. Have been getting wicked headaches for past month, and family doctor said soma was very addictive and wean myself off. How should I wean 1/2 pill for a week then 1/4, then stop? Must admit to being sad not to have the reliable sleep aid that soma has been. But, don't want to be addicted to this drug.
Avatar f tn t bad at all compared to opiate w/d.This is my experience congrats on ur 60days clean.
Avatar f tn I agree that sub would be an inappropriate choice to help you get off Soma. You need to work with a doctor who can formulate a sloe and gradual taper plan, and if need bem have someone give you the pills at home, if you cannot stick to the taper yourself. Sub is not an inherently bad drug, but it IS a strong opiate with its own set of risks and considerations. I would strongly recommend rethinking using it if you are considering it.
237152 tn?1206651036 Well I've never taken soma but have taken flexeril a lot, to help me sleep and to help with back spasms, I have never gotten any type of 'buzz' from it. Upon comparing the two on drugs.com under warning on soma it says not to take it if you have a history of alcohol or other substance abuse or dependence but under flexeril there is nothing of the sort. Hope that helps, Much Luv!!!
Avatar m tn Muscle relaxants like carisoprodol (Soma), cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril), and even diazepam (Valium), and clonazepam (Klonipin) are not narcotic agents, although the last two are benzodiazepines. Ask your doc about dantrolene (Dantrium).
Avatar n tn The only way I was able to get off soma was to just stop! It's a nasty drug. Withdrawal is nothing compared to opiates 3-4 days of craving and some anxiety and its done. I did get night sweats for about 3 days and by 5 you don't really even think about it. I can't see anyway to taper from it.....you can try, but taper just didn't work for me at ALL! I promise after no more than five days you will feel great. That stuff made me look and feel like c rap.......its bad, news..
Avatar n tn , with a short acting hydrocodone for breakthrough (and have been tried on both Cyclobenzaprine and then switched to what Wobby65 mentioned, Zanaflex). But I think both thise pain meds you mentioned are short-acting pain meds. which I've not heard much about taking 2different short acting meds. If your Dr. rx'd, then that what he rx'd... Did he say take those together/within the same day together? Best Wishes!
Avatar f tn So I have no choice but to detox myself next week. I am going to use Soma, 800 ibprohin, bentyl, immodium and klonopin. I am very scared and my bf of 3 months knows nothing about this. I am going to tell him that I am getting off lyrica and that it causes flulike symtoms and insomia, etc. I am so scared about the w/d's b/c of what I went though with fentanyl. People say getting off norco is like a walk in the park compared to fentanyl. Please any advice!!!!Thanks very much!!!!
Avatar f tn Does anyone know of anything(besides muscle relaxers: already on Soma) that will help spasticity? I'm up with my leg crampng, which happens far too often. My rt calf and foot almost always feel like they're on the verge of a Charlie-Horse type leg cramp. They do cramp up terribly a few nights a week. I'm constantly stretching the muscles since they are always sore, which doesnt really help much.
Avatar n tn It makes withdrawal much worse. I would suggest trying to eliminate the soma first. My problem is when I took the soma to try to replace the lortab......I felt sick all the time and it would make me crave the vic's even worse. Its a nasty tail chasing situation. Withdrawal from soma is nothing compared to the opiates. It lasts about a week and you basically just crave really bad, the physical is mostly some anxiety too. After two weeks you wont even think about the soma.......
917815 tn?1377498254 I dont post much (read a lot though)...a little over 3 weeks clean (again, LOL)... My right shoulder has been killing me the last 2-3 weeks, and this weekend, seems to have gotten worse; Doc said on Fri, most likely muscular...went through the weekend with Tylenol and today, pain is even worse. I asked him for something "non-narcotic" (he knows about my addiction) and he suggested Cyclobenzaprine (muscle relaxer).
Avatar f tn Hi. I am wanting to quit taking Cyclobenzaprine. I took 20mg a day off and on, like twice a week for 2 years, and then started taking the 20 mg every day for the last 13 years. I plan to wean off, and am wondering what to expect as of withdrawal symptoms. Also, does anyone know of a natural med I could take in it's place?
Avatar n tn My prayers and best wishes are with you. I wish I had more to offer as advice, but unfortunately soma is easy to obtain and abuse and yes, they are cracking down on it. Good thing because the effects of soma are very serious and I am still surprised that it is so easy to get. I am very sorry you are going through this.......please keep reading and posting. Luv, Nauty..............
Avatar f tn m sure you are an amazing person in every other aspect of your life, but pills change a person and quitting is not just a matter of will-power, it is a spiritual awakening. My kids joke about how I used to act compared to now. Life is so much richer and my heart is open again. Anyway, that's my two cents. Make the decision, open up to the truth, and let this whole thing be behind you. Good luck and keep posting.
Avatar n tn Due to the lack of data in subjects with more severe hepatic insufficiency, the use of Cyclobenzaprine HCl in subjects with moderate to severe impairment is not recommended. http://www.drugs.com/pro/cyclobenzaprine.
Avatar n tn My new doctor prescribed me Cyclobenzaprine for my muscles spams but I take celexa on my regular basis. I remember he told me to be careful in no combining those two. Tonight, I took my celexa around 1am. At 3:55am, I forgot I took the celexa and I took Cyclobenzaprine. Do you think is something I should be worry? I looked online about the drug interaction and they say could be deadly. I am very worry. Any advice of what I can do? Do I gonna be okay?
Avatar m tn How long does it take to get a Doctor to respond to these posts?
Avatar f tn i dont know anything about soma but i just wanted to say that it is awesome that you were able to come off the oxy and are now clean of it because that is a huge task and you made it thru so congrats on that sorry i dont know anything about soma but someone who does will help you tomorrow im sure of that good luck Abritt
Avatar f tn she meant(i think)that her norco is hydro and she is prescribed soma as well. she could have put a comma there to make it easier to understand but nethertheless i think you just misread it a little. nick, and good luck cavalier, sorry you aren't doing too well, i have DDD too.
529159 tn?1224991026 They will actually ebb and flow like a contraction but never stop...just increase in intensity to the point of making you want to pass out. My doctor put checked my postassium, magnesium, etc. levels and they were fine. Has anyone had any experience with these type of cramps?
Avatar m tn ve been taking a lot of caffeine to help study. as a result I have needed the SOMA pretty much every night to help sleep. usually only 1-2, but maybe 3 a few times. I think I did 3 a night for like 5 days in a row once, but other than that its been 1-2 only. I think it is likely that I am suffering from SOMA side effects, as I am having trouble concentrating, and feel tired/foggy/stupid a lot, so I have decided I need to get off of it ASAP.
Avatar m tn im addicted to vicoden and im trying to quit cold turkey. i dont have any valium to help me sleep and was wondering if soma's would help.
