I did some research on crestor after I posted my first question and saw that there have been lots of issues with Crestor raising blood sugars in type 2 diabetics. The Crestor site even says that this can happen. If you google Crestor raising blood sugars there are many websites that come up. I am not disputing the fact that diabetes is progressive, but it is just so odd that days after starting these meds my blood sugars started getting out of wack.

However, there is also the risk of liver inflammation due to the medicine Crestor® (rosuvastatin) and it is conceivable that there could be an additive effect of Crestor® (rosuvastatin) and INH. In addition, niacin may increase the risk of muscle disease called myopathy when used with Crestor® (rosuvastatin). Crestor® (rosuvastatin) significantly increases the INR (enhances the effect of Coumadin to make your blood “thinner” than it would be alone.

Not that new; I've been on it for almost a year with good results and no problems.But my best lipid results ( raising HDL, lowering LDL and Lp(a) ) came from taking RX Niacin which I take with the 10 mg Crestor and 325 mg aspirin at bedtime.No problems with Niacin either.I take RX fish oil also as I am in big time prevention mode due to cardiac microvascular dysfunction.

I had a CT Coronary Calcium Score test last week which showed a score of 239 in LAD, 0 in Left Main, 0 in Left Circumflex and 1 in Right Coronary Artery. My GP has immediately put me on a daily low dose asprin and 20mg Crestor and has requested I have a Mycocardial Perfusion Scan and intends for me to see a cardiologist who he says may do an angiogram and possible stent.

My Asthma Dr. said that he would consider changing from Lipitor 5 mg to Crestor (dosage not yet mentioned) after 1 more blood test. 3 years ago another dr. suggested a change, but cardiologist said no need to. Another Dr. (forum) suggested using, in addition to Fish oil for tri-glycerides, niacin. And he said statin users should take CO-enzyme Q 300 mg.

After 7 years of therapy taking Crestor and Tricor (fenofibrate), I, too, started experiencing intense pain in my legs, feet, back, and arms. My Dr. took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day.

My sister in law is newly pregnant and not originally from Australia. I am a new zealander so don't know much about Australian birth care. But are midwives used?? Or do you see the doctor? She is An Australian permanent resident. Here in NZ is it simple, you just contact a midwife and go from there. Is it that simple in Australia?

Hey, Doc~ I'm sure you understand that it isn't just any tick that will produce Lyme disease after having bitten someone. You know that they are deer ticks that have been infected, and hence carry the disease. I'm sorry about the cat. My goodness! But there's no way to tell if the tick that latched onto kitty infected the cat with Lyme or something else. (Not saying it can't have been Lyme!) I found a site that says Lyme was first documented in Australia in 1980.

t have a whole lot of faith in my new doctor. the disaster pap appt was almost the final nail in the coffin. she took over my prior dr's practice (had her from age 13 to 37) was trying to give benefit of the doubt. we'll see how she does with the rx q's. the ob said she was thinking about referring me to an internal specialist at women's hospital - vancouver to manage my meds / dosages so i'll see how it goes.

I have been taking 1000 mg Niaspan for six years to treat genetically high Lipoprotein(a). Now my physician wants to stop the Niaspan and begin a very small dose of Crestor. His reason is due to a recent study indicating Niaspan as a risk of causing bleeding and/or infection problems. I have already had one bad experience with another statin, Advicor, that resulted in me having permanent lymphedema in my ankles and legs. Now I am unsure about Niaspan.

Do you think Australia will eventually use rapid hiv tests to combat the hiv rates in Australia. I know Australia has great resources but read that they have not implemented point of care rapid tests.

cholesterol 233 and LDL 166. They are putting me on Crestor for cholesterol. My concern is the thyroid levels. I just get so tired and put on so much weight when the levels are off. Anyone have any suggestions?

The free clinic I go has switched me from Crestor to Lipitor even though my LDL is very high. It's a thorn in my side and won't budge even with Crestor. The cardiologist was even talking about adding another medicine to fight it. When I mentioned this to the clinic they told me every couple of years they switch drugs. So basically they can't afford to care about exceptions.

I just got my results back for my chloresterol levels and wondered if the numbers are good? I am taking 10m of Crestor...my total is 191 My Hdl is 106 My Ldl is 71, and my triglicerides are 70...what do you think?

I was put on Lipitior and it raised my liver enzymes. Now I am on Crestor and it works great and cholesterol is normal.

I started on crestor, than realized I am ttc and starting not feeling well and am on my ttw...I test for my pregnancy saturday. I took the crestor for 4 days than stopped and its been a little over a week. Should I restart and then stop if pregnant or not bother because of the possibility of there being a fetus? Once you start your medication, your physician will check the levels again and can readjust the medication. Crestor has been shown to increase HDL in some patients but not all. Get your lab work retested after starting to see if there needs to be further adjustments made.
