crestor

Avatar n tn I went to the hospital with chest pain. They said I was having a heart attack and gave some medicine, I think called thrombosis to break up the clot. They then put a cathader in my wrist and checked my heart. No damage was found. My ekg is normal. Why do I have to take so many medications if everything is as it was before.
Avatar f tn I have a friend - male- 68 who had a heart attack ~ 6 years ago. He takes a beta blocker - Coreg. I've known him for 3 years. During that time, he's always had, but now it's getting worse, a slow pulse & low Blood Pressure. Last night it was 84/54 pulse - 52. and he was feeling dizzy. Called the Dr. who said to drink fluids & take something salty - like saltine crackers. I just read up on Coreg - - beta blocker, and on low blood pressure.
Avatar n tn My spouse, 44, had a heart attack two years ago. I searched google and found 100s of posting like the one above about night leg cramps. Most of these individuals did not have leg cramps until after a heart attack. Is it the stents that are causing poor circulation in the legs? Is it the standard medications taken after a heart attack (blood thinners, cholesterol lowering drugs, etc? What are your thoughts?
Avatar m tn So, treating enough people to prevent one heart attack costs $500,000 per year. Since about 70% of the heart attacks were not fatal, prevention of a single death from heart attack would cost even more, approximately $1,700,000. Giving the benefit of the doubt, we may allow for a similar reduction in stroke and say that "only" $250,000 is needed to protect one person from a stroke or heart attack. It is hardly surprising that Astra Zeneca's share price increased by $1.
Avatar f tn I am worried that I will wind up with a lung aneurism, heart attack or stroke at some point if the vessel that decides to pop is located in my lung, brain or heart. The last doctor (a rheumatologist) ten years ago was so incensed that he, a prestigious MD from Harvard Medical School didn't know the cause, that he recommended I go to psychiatrist. Needless to say I did not follow Dr.
Avatar f tn I'm on Crestor 5 mg for 4 days now. It is the second attempt trial. The statins always give me muscle pain. This muscle pain occurred in my heart so it looks like "heart attack". One side of my head and neck is in pain now. Not very very pain but very uncomfortable.

Avatar m tn I have 8 stent, 6 in the RCA and 2 in the obtuse marginal, I was 38 when I had my first heart attack, I am now 40. I'm constantly feeling chest pains could the medicine I'm on cause these pains?
Avatar f tn And the statin DOES help prevent heart attack in a diabetic or prediabetic person making a slight elevation worth it. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/high-blood-cholesterol/in-depth/statin-side-effects/art-20046013 I would talk to your doctor about the best course of action. If supplementation will help, medication or a switch in statin.
Avatar f tn Hi! I am a 42 year old female Group Fitness Instructor & runner (5'2" 120 pounds). I have heart disease on my mother and father's side (my father has had a heart attack & a TIA Stroke). No one is obese, just high cholesterol. I eat very healthy (fruits & veggies, oatmeal every morning, almonds and I use Soy milk and take Fish Oil). I had my blood taken the other day and found that it shot up. My results: 233 Total---64 HDL---154 LDL---75 Trigl.
Avatar f tn 150/96 I have seen a cardiologist and was prescribed for atacand 8 mg first. But within one week the cadiologist increase the to 16mg. However after taking crestor 10mg for 2 weeks, it reduce to 4.7x but my doctor stil increase the dose as he said he wanted to reduce it more. Any advise.
Avatar f tn I have had high cholesterol 25 years and refuse to take statins since 1) half of all people who get a heart attack have high cholesterol, and the other haf doesn; 2) high cholesterol is a risk factor, but I know that the most important risk factord are a) herttage, b) tobacco consumption. Nobody, neither in my mother's or my father's side died of a heart attack and I stopped smoking 25 years ago. 3) Statins affect the liver.
Avatar n tn 4 years ago I had a coronary vasospasm which resulted in a heart attack at age 49. My total cholesterol was 165 at the time. I am not overweight, do not smoke, do not drink and exercise at least 6 times a week. Of course I was put on a statin at the time but eventually stopped due to unpleasant side effects. Now my doc wants me to go back on a statin, which I think is not necessary. He said I had a 30% occlusion and made it sound much more ominous than he did when it happened.
Avatar f tn I had a heart attack and stroke 14 months ago. After stent implantation, I recovered fully. I take a lot of maintenance meds. I haven't had one day since when I've felt great or even my old self, but it's tolerable. Three days ago, I had an incidence of lightheadedness and nausea. I had just arrived at an outdoor concert. An usher called the medics and my BP was through the roof (198/98), as was my sugar (204). I had taken my BP and diabetes medicine as prescribed that morning.
8984723 tn?1401014419 Before I had a heart attack on the 2nd May 2014, and a stent fitted, I was fit, strong and able, and had no pain apart from that associated with acid reflux. Since the stent procedure, I have had lots of chest pain, sometimes like a stabbing feeling in the heart, at other times, pain radiating down my arms, shoulder and neck. Most usually this is accompanied by violent burping and indigestion. It can happen at any time, and most usually when I am at rest. It happens a lot throughout each day.
Avatar m tn In May of 2003 I had a stent inserted in my right coronary after I was discovered to have had a minor heart attack in October of 2002. For the past 12 years my cardiologist has had me take 20mg of Crestor daily and two capsules of Seacor 1000mg; additionally I have been taking two capsules of 1200 mg of Omega 3-6-9. My blood pressure is 130/80. My cardiologist has said my condition is stable.
Avatar m tn Obviously this a question you should pose to your cardiologist. You might have stunned heart cells, and no permanent damage as long as you can take the medications, watch your diet and exercise as your doctor prescribes. I had 7 heart stents over a seven year period and always went back to light weight activity as well as walking about 3 miles a day three days a week and swimming a mile two days a week.
4237975 tn?1351595953 I had a heart attack,3 stents now take aspirin, coreg, losinopril, and famotidine.I was prescribed vistaril 25 mg 3 times a day. What amount of time in between doses do they mean?
Avatar n tn s heart attacks and grandmothers heart attack. He then ask me what medications i take which is crestor and over the counter pain relief. So I am worried about this. I am 38 years of age. Dont smoke and hardly drink. I see this specialist soon but the waiting will drive me insane. Please any insight.
Avatar n tn A very elevated cholesterol is very directly linked with risk for heart disease including heart attacks, heart failure, atrial fibrillation and strokes. Also with development of peripheral vascular disease, which interferes with a person's ability to ambulate. Diet and exercise are important first steps, but in his case there is likely to be a very strong genetic component, so medical therapy should be started immediately probably with crestor 20 mg daily.
Avatar n tn 120, which it has been since being on double statins for the past 12 years, it was at 380 when I had my first heart attack, then was in the range of 240 until I was placed on dual statins. My cardiologist and GP are more concerned with my lipid and triglyceride levels than they are about my over-all cholesterol levels. I've been on statins since I was 28, and am now 49. When my insurance, years ago, would not cover Zocor any longer, I was started on Lipitor..
Avatar m tn within the muscle of your heart can not safely beremoved without injuring your heart. This is likely in an area which was irreversibly injured in your heart attack and has been there since that time. I always summarize a discussion with my patients by saying that "I am giving you a lot of information. Some of it may become confusing after you leave and go home and think about it. You may develop some questions and require further explanation.
Avatar f tn I'm on Zocor for high cholesterol. Everyone in my family is on some type of statin drug. We have a family history of high cholesterol that isn't related to diet (according to our doctor). Should I not be taking this drug?
Avatar m tn You already had TIA and next time can be a stroke or heart attack. The Crestor should bring your cholestorol levels down, but the rest of the damage will be there until Surgeon fix it. Taking your age in consideration: if you are otherwise in good health I would go for it and get the Mitral valve replaced and the blocked arteries bypassed. They can replace your valve with Tissue valve, then you don't need Warfarin, etc.
