Crestor half life

Common Questions and Answers about Crestor half life

crestor

Avatar m tn I believe crestor has a half life of around 18-19 hours. So, it doesn't take long to be removed from the body. Wasn't crestor the statin that had a petition raised against it and sent to the FDA, who threw the petition out? I agree with the FDA, there was no real basis to have the drug removed.
Avatar n tn My Asthma Dr. said that he would consider changing from Lipitor 5 mg to Crestor (dosage not yet mentioned) after 1 more blood test. 3 years ago another dr. suggested a change, but cardiologist said no need to. Another Dr. (forum) suggested using, in addition to Fish oil for tri-glycerides, niacin. And he said statin users should take CO-enzyme Q 300 mg.
Avatar f tn The half-life of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. Hope that helps.
6298176 tn?1380134459 It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 1000 mg Niaspan for six years to treat genetically high Lipoprotein(a). Now my physician wants to stop the Niaspan and begin a very small dose of Crestor. His reason is due to a recent study indicating Niaspan as a risk of causing bleeding and/or infection problems. I have already had one bad experience with another statin, Advicor, that resulted in me having permanent lymphedema in my ankles and legs. Now I am unsure about Niaspan.
Avatar n tn Remember, your statin has a half life of about 14 hours which means after 14 hours you have eliminated half of the medication. You will then eliminate half of the remaining have after the next 14 hours and so on and so on.
Avatar n tn Is it wise to give in and take the cholesterol lowering medication? Thank you for your response.
Avatar n tn Could my shortness of breath. weakness and aching be cause by Crestor? I have seen a pulmonary doctor and a cardiologist. They say my heart and lungs are fine.
Avatar f tn I have taken Crestor 10 mg for 6 weeks and then my hair started falling out. Anyone experience this? Tests ruled out any other source of problem.
Avatar n tn Yes, indeed! After 7 years of therapy taking Crestor and Tricor (fenofibrate), I, too, started experiencing intense pain in my legs, feet, back, and arms. My Dr. took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day.

Avatar m tn My GP has immediately put me on a daily low dose asprin and 20mg Crestor and has requested I have a Mycocardial Perfusion Scan and intends for me to see a cardiologist who he says may do an angiogram and possible stent. I am male, almost 60, 5'11, 92kgs and have a good diet (losts of fruit and veges with little deep fried) although I do not exercise as much as I should.

535882 tn?1396576685 whats the half life for syntriod. about how much time does it take to build up in you and also leave your system?
329165 tn?1515471990 That's a controversial question, but let me point out that NO studies have been done to prove any long term damage from statins. Remember, statins have been around since 1987 so they have 25 years of data to look at. In fact, as researchers are starting to do meta-analysis which roll up almost 200,000 participants in multiple trials do not show any long term damage or reactions. In fact, statins users are still protected from their use for up to 5 years after stopping their use.
Avatar n tn I have it on my scrotum. I don't feel it's minor, I may as well have brain cancer. It will never go away and the only treatments are a joke. I know people with psoriasis all over their body and it doesn't bother them as bad as eczema. They only get it in the winter and only when they are stressed out. This has been torturing me for over a year and has destroyed my life. Of course I can't get a doctor to say what it is. I even went to a university hospital.
Avatar f tn 150/96 I have seen a cardiologist and was prescribed for atacand 8 mg first. But within one week the cadiologist increase the to 16mg. Despite that I am also takin crestor tab of 10mg at first and was increase to 20mg. My cholestrerol level quite high at 6.7. However after taking crestor 10mg for 2 weeks, it reduce to 4.7x but my doctor stil increase the dose as he said he wanted to reduce it more. Any advise.
Avatar n tn I was on Crestor for a couple of years, and last year I started getting PVC's. I was taken off Crestor because my liver function started showing up with issues, and my cholesterol was VERY low on it. I was only on it because I am diabetic, and they want much lower cholesterol than normal. Regardless, since I have been off the Crestor, my PVC's are now gone. Not reduced, but gone. They slowly tapered away as the Crestor left my system.
Avatar f tn Had been on Augmentin for a sinus infection, just finishing up the script, and take Crestor, Nexium, and Zyrtec on a regular basis. Symptoms started a few days after starting generic Zyrtec, which also caused unbelievable dryness that felt like I was dehydrated (no vomiting, though). A day after the chills, I noticed my urine was dark and my stools were very light, almost gray, and I started getting very itchy but no rash.
Avatar m tn I was getting migraine headaches approx 12-15 times a month for a year and a half. I started taking Bystolic and the headaches are reduced to 2-3 times a month. I am fairly certain, however, that the Bystolic has caused joint and muscle pain especially in my knees. Is anyone else taking Bystolic experiencing this same side effect?
Avatar n tn I thought this would stop when I stopped the Crestor but it most definitely HAS NOT. I have been off of Crestor for approximately five months. I suffer daily with pain, constipation and stomach issues. I also have a bad memory and horrible concentration. Could all of this be related to my thyroid being too low? The muscle issues, stomach issues, constipation, memory? I need help and don't know where to even begin to get it. I feel out of control and I just want my life back !
Avatar f tn hi! My Dr put me on Crestor, 40 mg once a day for high cholesterol and coronary plaque buildup..... Today is my 4th day taking it. Ive seen the commercials...and Ive researched online...It seems ok...Ive tolerated Lipitor in the past with absolutly NO side effects. I just noticed today that i seem to be sore...in my shoulder and neck.... as when I would shrug my shoulders...the muscles there seem sore when I do that. Now, maybe I did something...? Sat the wrong way, slept the wrong way...
Avatar f tn I want to thank everyone for their help and great advice, especially for my husband, he has gotten his life back. Thanks to all!
