C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is a molecular marker of inflammation. Inflammation could occur because of, for instance, an infection (viral or bacterial). Chronic inflammation has also been correlated with heart disease, diabetes, and some cancer processes (mainly colon cancer).
My quick search of PubMed didn't reveal ANY studies directly linking CRP to thyroid disorders.
Crestor is an atypical statin in that it raises the HDL by 5-10%, but more importantly decreases through pleomorphic effects the crp level, There is some data that increasing HDL with Niaspan and gemfibrozil in men decreases mortallity if their initial HDL is below 35-40. I would probably start a statin, and see what happens to your ldl and hdl. If the hdl remains low, then I would add gemfibrozil to raise it ( since Niaspan did not work).
Now 2 years later I have another heart scan that shows the plaque in my left main has more than doubled to 38.06 and there are other smaller numbers on my RCA and LAD. I was thinking I was doing everything right, diet(I am 10 lbs overweight), vitamins, Crestor,(20mg) fish oil, aspirin. My lipids are Chol(143), LDL(50), HDL(95), Trig(59). My real size pattern is A. My TSH is 1.37, My CRP is zero. I just found out my vitamin D was borderline low.
After 7 years of therapy taking Crestor and Tricor (fenofibrate), I, too, started experiencing intense pain in my legs, feet, back, and arms. My Dr. took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day.
I started on crestor, than realized I am ttc and starting not feeling well and am on my ttw...I test for my pregnancy saturday. I took the crestor for 4 days than stopped and its been a little over a week. Should I restart and then stop if pregnant or not bother because of the possibility of there being a fetus?
I am just worried about my health.
The weakness and aching are signs of rhabdomyalgia which is a side affect of statin drugs. You need to see the doctor that prescribed the meds as he/she needs to check you. I don't know about the shortness of breath. It could be a drug reaction too.
Has anyone gotten worsening of their PVC's from taking a statin drug? I seem to be intolerant of these drugs and have tried Crestor, Lipitor and Lescol. My PVC's go absolutely nuts when I take them. I have done my own tests by going off and on them. I consistently get worse when I'm on them. I take C0Q10 and a whole bunch of supplements including magnesium to no avail. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Im 35yrs old and had CRP since i was 14. I got sick and tired of buying green scratch pads to scrub the dark peels off my body (where i can reach). For YEARS i thought i had Tinea Versicolor so i spent years treating my self the wrong way. I knew there was no cure for Tinea Versicolor so i never bothered to visit a Dermatologist.
Two days ago, i finally decided to see a Dermatologist. I expected him to freak out when he saw my chest and back. Instead he did the opposite.
Also doctor advised to recheck the CRP level after two days. As he said we checked the CRP level again and the report indicates low CRP level(nearly 7). This test had been done by not the previous Lab. After the test we went to the previous lab and inform about the issue. They said again and again their test is not wrong and in some patient, CRP level can be changed in sudden(hour by hour) .This is my problem. Is there any possibility for changing CRP level in sudden?
Had been on Augmentin for a sinus infection, just finishing up the script, and take Crestor, Nexium, and Zyrtec on a regular basis. Symptoms started a few days after starting generic Zyrtec, which also caused unbelievable dryness that felt like I was dehydrated (no vomiting, though). A day after the chills, I noticed my urine was dark and my stools were very light, almost gray, and I started getting very itchy but no rash.
However, there is also the risk of liver inflammation due to the medicine Crestor® (rosuvastatin) and it is conceivable that there could be an additive effect of Crestor® (rosuvastatin) and INH. In addition, niacin may increase the risk of muscle disease called myopathy when used with Crestor® (rosuvastatin). Crestor® (rosuvastatin) significantly increases the INR (enhances the effect of Coumadin to make your blood “thinner” than it would be alone.
so if i got infected with syphilis it should be in Tertiary syphilis or Latent syphilis stage, i had blood test last week but not for syphilis and CRP in blood test was negative and WBC was normal and bacteria in urine test was negative.....i had not and i have not symptoms of syphilis like sore or rash or....so if i have syphilis so wbc in blood should be more than normal and also crp, but crp was negative ...so with these reasons should i be worry about syphilis or not?
But my best lipid results ( raising HDL, lowering LDL and Lp(a) ) came from taking RX Niacin which I take with the 10 mg Crestor and 325 mg aspirin at bedtime.No problems with Niacin either.I take RX fish oil also as I am in big time prevention mode due to cardiac microvascular dysfunction.Fortunately my lipids have never been bad and my larger coronaries are clear but the lipids are only a piece of the total cardiac picture and the possible side effects of meds far outweigh my other risks.
Hello everybody, ESR & CRP are the main markers of infection in most of the countries, and I am trying to formulate a pattern to differentiate if Virus, Bacteria's or fungus or other organisms that will affect the ESR & CRP levels .. This will help lot of others who are still trying to diagnose their issues. If you have come across any STD's and if you know your ESR or CRP levels ( increased, or unaffected ) please mention in the below format.
Hello I have been taking generic Crestor for about two years. It has dropped my LDL to 39-45 range and blood glucose ranges from 105-111 fasting. A1c 5.1 - 5.3. Prior to the statin I was below 100. I am not overweight, exercise consistently and eat very healthy. So the statin is the culprit. I am wondering if being stricter on carb intake and supplementing with Berberine will help? Or has anyone had better outcomes with other statins like livalo or pravastatin?
