996946 tn?1503249112 How scary for you, Linda! I can understand your concern. How does Aramis seem? You might give your vet a call with this question since I know inhaling like that could certainly cause a problem. Other than that, the introductions went well? I'm glad you're home and Tommy got to meet everyone. A cat coughing is such a scary sound, isn't it. Jade was coughing way in the backyard a few weeks ago and I could hear her in the house and went running!
2199283 tn?1338585841 Mostly you are asleep, coughing wakes you up, you sit up, you start coughing, coughing, coughing, then suddenly it feels as if your windpipe closes and you breathe, talk, swallow, anything!! This lasts up to 30-35 seconds (which seems like forever). It is very frightening! Eventually you can draw in small breaths and the episode subsides...... Has anyone heard of this? Please, please answer me. I've been looking for the people who wrote in before.
1171933 tn?1263476758 My Chihuahua has severe bouts of Coughing, Wheezing, Choking, & Breathing problems during the night. It seems to be a little bit better in the daytime. I've had him to Vet's, but after spending $1,000 + he has not changed. Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be?

Avatar f tn I experienced a near choking event a week ago in a restaurant from coughing. I hadn't taken a bite yet but began coughing so intensely I could not breathe and was near passing out. When I got a breath it was very difficult and was more of a gasp for air. During the event I experienced severe stinging sensations in my chest. Since then every time I cough or sneeze the burning sensation returns and my ribs are very sore. Wearing anything tight around that area causes an extreme soreness.

I do cough up matter also and I wheeze at times pretty badly.I do have GERD bad too.Do you feel this could be the GERD doing this to me?
Avatar n tn For 4 months I have been constantly coughing, gagging, choking, spitting up mucus and throwing up. I have been to 3 different doctors and each time they have treated me with allergy meds., cortizone shots, and diffent antibiotics to no avail.. I had a CAT scan of my sinus 2 weeks ago and the sinus is clear. They now have me scheduled for allergy testing coming in a week. I am into my 9th day of a 10 day antibiotic for the 4 time.
Avatar f tn Hello, this concerns my life partner (58 years old, male). I've been concerned for a while now. He, quite regularly, gets very bad coughing fits while he sleeps. He snores badly and to me it sounds like he's "forgetting" to swallow his saliva and after some has build up in his mouth he starts choking a little and goes into a very bad coughing fit. He's even thrown up twice because of the violent nature of those coughs.
Avatar n tn I am a male age 60. In the last 6 months I have experienced coughing, choking and mucus for about 30 minutes after eating. I first thought it was related to a food allergy, but I cannot isolate it to any specific food group. I do not experinece and acid reflux or vomiting, just constant choking. This is very irritating and is a bit strange. Does anyone have an idea of the cause or where I should go for resolution.
Avatar f tn I had an endoscopy this morning and I woke up from the anesthesia coughing badly. I was practically choking and it hurt when I coughed. It felt like I had water in my lungs. It seems to be better now and none of the medical staff were concerned. But I have had endoscopes in the past and beer woke up coughing. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn My 8 year old cat recently started coughing, not the ususal hair ball stuff, and I can hear him breath. His lung sound "wet" . I started giving him some over the counter hairball remedy and think he may have aspirated some liquid. Today is Sunday. My vet is not open today but will take him to emergency if I have to. He is drinking and eating, his gums are pink. Should I go to emergency?
Avatar f tn t know that coughing is NOT NORMAL till i took him and found out he had pneumonia. What I was told is unless your cat is coughing up a hairball, coughing is not normal; and the impaired breathing definitely sounds like something is not right-please bring your cat to the vet right away.
Avatar f tn t worry too much about your cat, unless you see some physical symptoms-difficulty swallowing, coughing, or choking. If you don't see any symptoms, then your kitty is just normal. Honestly, nothing to worry about!!
1232362 tn?1333135406 Please know that coughing (unles it's a hairball) or panting is NOT ok in your cat. We had an upper resp, virus go through our house and 2 cats were fine. The 3rd I thought had mucus in his throat or trouble breathing due to stuffy nose like the rest and didn't realise his distress till he coughed up a frightening gob of green phlegm. Bob spent last night @ the vet w/pneumonia. happily (so far-say prayers for my boy) all signs looking good for him and he's coming home tonight.
Avatar n tn When my 3 yr old son is playing he sometimes chokes his stuffed animals, weve caught him a few times choking the cat, or stepping on thier tails on purpose.i was just wondering if this is normal boy behavior he also likes to growl at us when he gets onto trouble and he points his finger into our face while hes growling why would he be doing this.
Avatar f tn t think it was eosinophilic esophagitis because my main symptom is coughing. I have had choking issues but it is not a constant thing. I have had eosinophilc pneumonia and also am hypothyroid and have interstitial cystitis. I am 70 years old and have never had an allergic reaction to food or heart burn. Could my diseases have a connection? Could it be autoimmune disease?
Avatar f tn Also, Do you think an air purifier would help? I ask b/c I put a HEPA furnace filter on the front of one of the fans in the bedroom, within a few days, it became darkened from dust, cat hairs and other things I can't identify. As for the cat, I've had her for 17 years, I have never been allergic or had any kind of reactions to her dander. Could this be a problem, even though I've never had it before?
393685 tn?1425812522 I believe I am coming down with a chest cold again and coughing up a storm. This biopsy is schedule for Monday - will they still do it if I am coughing at the time. Gosh - horrible headache and sleepy. Hey Utah and Dac - Is this how you felt? Sure seems like the symptoms the kids all had at school. Now I AM crabby.
Avatar m tn I have had hoarsness, pain and high pitched coughing from one side of my throat that sometimes causes choking.
Avatar f tn I have a coughing problem. It almost always occurs with liquids or saliva. There's a tickle in my throat; when it happens I am not actually choking, but can't get enough air because the coughing is so constant. What scares me is this: as it's happening, my arms and upper chest area (around the collar bone) get the tight feeling you experience when you're getting your blood pressure checked. It goes away in about 1 minute.
