Avatar f tn Hi Starryeyes, thanks for the email/info. I think the Avonex is working well but not totally sure. Dr. needs to compare my recent mri with the 2 previous. It's strange that I don't seem to have any trouble with the Avonex. I'm so lucky. I exercise regularly, eat healthy, & see a chiropractor. I believe this all helps. Any kind of side-effect I get is so nothing really (feeling cold on & off all the time & slightly sore all over body).

Avatar f tn I'm still undecided whether i will bother with these drugs. Just having read Quix's comments that her neuro dislikes Copaxane makes me increasingly skeptical..... 1: How long have these drugs been around? 2: do 'they" know the long term effects of these drugs? By that I mean, do they have long term NEGATIVE side effects? 3: are there any stats showing the % of people who really benefit? Ditto stats showing a lack of benefit?

Avatar f tn BUT, I have to take it or I am in pain. So try not to worry so much about the long term effects when you are trying to survive today. If you are worried about this I would talk to my doctor and let them know what you are experiencing and there may be something they can do differently. Just dont stop any seizure med without a doctors help. Hope you feel better..
Avatar m tn I have no symptoms and feel great; I am 54 and wondering if HEP C would kill me or if the treatment could cause long term effects that could ruin my health. The longest living male in my family was my father 86 and had slow progressive dementia the last 10 years.
Avatar f tn Welcome, I have been on the Copaxone 40 since February 2015. I have been very pleased so far. New scans have showed No new lesions. But I have had a relapse in May. My Neuro suggested that I start with Copaxone 40 three times a week. I have had no problem with the injections. I did not like the Auto Injector and have gone to manual injecting. It for me personally is much easier and I have less sight reactions. Not sure when the Copaxone 40 was first offered for use.
Avatar m tn dont be too scared as said above few people experience sides but one thing is for sure long term use for decades is not healthy and only cirrhosis or severe damaged liver can justify such use so i'd definitely combo with other therapies so that nucs can be used short term from latest easl conference we have now tests for sustained immune control of hbv cccdna equal or less than 5 copies/cell we now need an hbsag level equal to 5copies/cell, mybe hbsag 500iu/ml
Avatar f tn t think I really had RRMS despite getting in this trial somehow. The jury is still out on long-term side effects, but with a couple exceptions on a higher dose than the one the FDA approved, the short-term side effects seem to be reversible if you go off the drug.
Avatar n tn Hi Ali. I can tell you my experience with Copaxone. I was just diagnosed in Dec of 07. I haven't been on any other MS med. I was put on Copaxone. In those 3 months I struggled with depression, sleeplessness, gained 10 lbs and had terrible dark circles under my eyes. It completely changed my personality. I took myself off it and finally after 2 weeks am starting to feel like myself again and have dropped the weight and the circles under my eyes are gone.

Avatar f tn The drug has not been out long enough to know what the long term effects may be. You probably will never need an organ transplant but it does give you an idea the orals are stronger drugs. It is all risk/benefit. As the disease progresses Doctors and patients are willing to take greater risks to slow progression. But like if you have a small cancer they may cut it out and give you no chemotherapy where as if you are stage 4 Cancer you use a drug that may make your heart give out.
Avatar m tn My initial experience with Copaxone was like yours, and it took a while for my system to adjust. Once it did however, I've had no problems. On it nearly five years now and zero to very minimal injection site reactions (usually zero) no more burning when the medicine goes in. When I first started, it hurt like hell and I just couldn't see how I could stay on it long term. However it ddget better, much better, over time.
Avatar f tn What are some possible long term effects of crushing up and snorting adderall mixed with norco?
Avatar f tn i wonder did a doctor tell you you had multiple chemical sensitivites....
Avatar f tn I'm recovering from an abscessed tooth. Mine developed 3 weeks ago and 2 days lator I had to have an Endodonist drain it on an emergency basis because the swelling was already moving up to my eye. I was told to get the tooth extracted because of my medical condition (Type 1 Diabetic). After I got it drained my dentist put me on 4,000mg of Amoxicillin a day becasue I had to get rid of the infection and the swelling had to continue to go down before he extracted the tooth.
